Another leg of the Super 6 is taking place this w/e featuring the undefeated Carl Froch and the viking warrior Mikkel Kessler.

My main interest in this fight is seeing where Kessler is at mentally following his heavy defeat to Andre Ward. Stylistically, Froch is a much easier match for him and I expect him to bounce back. It'll make the tournament much more interesting too if Kessler wins.

It'll be tough for Froch to win a decision against the more technically sound Kessler especially in Denmark. Froch is going to need a knockout to win this one.

I'm taking Kessler by decision.

Your thoughts?

Gotta go with Kessler here.

I'm pretty garbage at picking fights, but I would be absolutely shocked if Kessler lost to Froch. It would pretty much signal the end of Kessler to me.

No way I can see Kessler stopping Froch though. Kessler by relatively wide UD for mine.

Brutal KO or or at least a UD...Froch will have to stop Kessler im sure but look anything can happen...who knows where Kesslers head is right now...When you really look at it the pressure is all on him if he loses it could spell the end for him although im sure he will finish the tournament hopefully.
I know Kessler lost to ward but he is still right up there IMO in the SMW division I mean Miranda takes loss after loss yet is still heaped with praise yet Kessler takes a couple of losses and is bagged...im really over it.

Mate, while I agree that Kessler is right up there with the top few at 168, I can assure you that Miranda is no longer being "heaped with praise". Maybe he was after he destroyed AA's jaw in Germany, but pretty much everyone thinks he is an average fighter now. B-level at the very best.

I think Mikkel will come out with fire in his belly and turn his career around with a win. They are 50/50 imo but its just a feeling ive got that im going to trust!

Froch needs to stop the Dane. He won't win a decision in Denmark, he doesn't have the technical ability to persuade the judges in a hostile enviroment, which will favour Kess.

Froch will have to break Kessler down, physically and mentally. I have no doubts that the Cobra will be the man pressuring in this fight, but psycing Kessler out will only better Froch. Knocking the confidence of Mikkel early, and Froch will land more and more. He can't let the Dane get into his rhythm, and i'm sure Kessler will lead the early rounds, but if Froch can land plenty to make Kessler respect him then it's a good sign to really put the pressure on from the mid rounds.

Getting Kessler to trade, in my opinion, will still give a 50/50 fight, and Kessler most definitely has the power to shake Carl. A flush shot from a counter could put Froch on his back. We've seen him shook from such shots from Taylor and Dirrell. Kessler has accuracy on his side. Froch really needs to hold up his arms more, but we've seen it time and time again, that he prefers not to.

Thinking with my heart, i say Froch by TKO. My head says Kessler UD.

I'm saying Kessler all the way, but look for a mid-ring explosion as the ultra tough and superbly conditioned Carl Froch comes with the goods. Shame we're not getting it here in Australia... been saying that a bit lately.

Kessler via KO. Only because I think as a person Froch is a prick.

Kessler will do exactly what he did to Andrade. Seriously with frochs punching style how the hell is he suppose to catch kessler. Kessler by wide UD only because froch has a granite chin

Kessler's going to stand with Froch, bad idea.

Even if these guys did stand toe to toe, I'd favor Kessler to get the better of the exchanges. Froch is a solid puncher with a good chin, but I expect Kessler to beat him to the punch.

I see some people are not Carl Froch fans. He's not the most talented guy, but when he wins it's good for the sport for this very reason. I'm sure he won't mind being the underdog for this one. Still, I think his unbeaten run comes to an end.

Just watched the fight, and it was a lot closer than I anticipated. I feel bad for Froch because the official scorecards did not do him justice at all. Good arguments could be made for both fighters to get the win, but the bottom line is that Kessler got the official nod in an evenly matched fight.

My thoughts:

I'll be honest and say that Froch impressed me more than Kessler did. One thing that was obvious (and the commentators touched on as well) is that Kessler seems to have changed his fight style. He used to have one of the best 1-2's in the game, a great jab followed closely by a crisp straight right hand. The straight right just didn't seem to be there anymore, he threw an awful lot of looping rights instead.

Carl Froch seems to do a lot of subtle things that make life difficult for his opponents. He creates an illusion that he is easy to hit with the reality being quite different. I think he has a keen sense of distance. Also, even though he still boxes with his hands low, he manages to bob and slip punches rather well. I know it might sound stupid, but I think his defensive skills are underrated.

This result makes the Super 6 even more interesting now. It goes to show just how competitive this division is. I do think Andre Ward is the best of the lot though.

that fight was really hard to score, just as I said before the fight,it was going to be close, and it turned out to be exactly that.
I gave 5 rounds to kessler, and 5 rounds to froch. The other 2 I just couldn't pick, it was that close and watching on TV doesn't help.

Is it me or was the arena really quiet..It sounded as though there was absolutely no atmosphere, especially in the early rounds.
I wouldn't say it was 1 of the best fights of the tourny, it got better as the fight went on.
My fav were Abraham Direll, direll froch, and taylor abraham.

And froch must be one of the clumsiest boxers I've seen. His technique seriously is so pathetic.
