Manny Pacquiao’s brother Bobby also running for Congress


Bobby Pacquiao, the Frank Stallone/Roger Clinton/Don Swayze of Pinoy boxing families, will follow his brother Manny’s footsteps and go into politics as well. According to a report by the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Bobby is among the nominees of the party list group Puwersa ng Bayaning Atleta. Unfortunately, neither the report nor the group’s website have noted the qualifications of the younger Pacquiao for the office, apart from having had the experience of getting punched in the face for a living.

The nomination comes as no surprise, since the group lists Manny as its chairman, and has pushed hard to include the pound-for-pound king to be its top nominee before he decided to pursue a local congressional seat instead. As it is, we are looking at the possibility of having not one, but two Pacquiao brothers in the House of Representatives.

It’s no guarantee though, because a December survey from Pulse Asia indicates that a political endorsement from Manny Pacquiao is a kiss of death.
