Well, I just finished playing this game through a second time on the PC, and like the first time I felt that it was just a shame that Half-Life 2 ever had to end. So I put my mind to it to see what was on the horizon for Valve and Half-Life, with my primary goal being to see if there was any chance Half-Life 3 would come out before 2011. And while I did not discover any promising evidence in that regard here is what I did find, and will share will anybody who actually gets excited about such things (everything is linked):

Black Mesa Source, Half-Life 2 Mod (http://blackmesasource.com)
--This looks like it going to be everything Half-Life: Source should have been. This mod is a reacreation of the original Half-Life with the graphics and physics of the source engine in full glory. God only knows if it will ever come out.
Rouge Threat, Half-Life 2 Mod (http://www.roguethreat.com/)
--Unlike the previous mod this is not a recreation of anything but an entirely original story that involves citizen control and the combine... That's all I am going to give away-- check the site out and see for yourself. Again, I can only wonder if it will ever actually be finished.
Additional "Lost Coast" Level (http://www.hlfallout.net/viewnews.php/7905/)
--This is actually an additional level for the game that Valve is releasing free to all Half-Life 2 owners via Steam... The catch? It is only for the highest of high end systems as it introduces their new lighting system.
Half-Life 2: Aftermath (http://pc.ign.com/objects/740/740555.html)
--This is the mother of them all, this is an expansion pack that Valve is releasing for the game that is an actual continuation of the story (gasp). You are Gordon Freeman again, and you are helping Alyx dealing with events of... well, let's just say after the game concluded. And the best part? It is supposedly close to being released!
Okay, so that is my random and totally uncalled for computer game wrap up. I love it when I am taken by these strange surges of motivation-- if only I could use them to find myself a job!
