Wow what a game. The Pistons showed why they are the defending champs and pulled that **** out in the 4th.
I can't wait to hear all of the excuses. Don't give me that "well the Heat would have won if Wade was ok" **** because if you can't play then get the **** off the court.
Sheed and Mr. Big Shot came through in the clutch as always.
It's destiny at this point *****es, Spurs better get ready for a thrashing in San Antonio.

The Pistons match up against the spurs much better than they do against Diesel and Wade.
You don't have anyone with sheer strength to kill us down low and you don't have anyone as quick and skilled at D-Wade.
Chauncey matches up well against Parker (however Paker doesn't against Chauncey)
Rip/Bowen/Ginobili/Tayshaun will probably cancel each other out
Sheed matches up well against Duncan because he's very long and Duncan isn't a lot stronger than him. Sheed's also crafty...
Wallace should help with Duncan and will keep Nazr Mohammed in check too.
You don't have anyone for McNice though....

You're just lucky you got to play the Indianapolis Colts in the WCFs. The Pistons are going to repeat, there's nothing your boys can do about it. We are by far the best team, with the best coaching that you are going to have to play. I think your offense will look very anemic against the best defensive team in the league (pistons).
I could give a **** about transition defense because we don't get out and run as much as the Suns. We'll grind you down and beat you like we've done to every other one of these ***** ass teams.

Parker is not as good as Billups you are just trying to salvage whatever you can to make you team look better.
Parker:
Cumulative Playoff Statistics
37 minutes, 45% fg, 67% ft, 20% 3pfg(7-34), 18.7 ppg, 4.8 apg, 3.1 rpg, .94 spg, .06 bpg, 3.06 TO (4.0 in WCF's)
Billups:
39 minutes, 42% fg, 89% ft, 37% 3pfg(33-89), 18 ppg, 6.6 apg, 4.1 rpg, 1.0 spg, .22 bpg, 2.2 TO(1.8 in ECF's)

Allen Iverson was his teams POINT GUARD this year. He's a natural 2 I guess, but if not him, who was their teams PG? He did lead the team in assists, and Iguodala was the SG if I recall correctly.
I could give 2 ****s about what the world thinks. Did anyone besides me and the rest of Detroit think we were going to win it last year? NO...
Again, I could care less about how fast Chauncey is. He has quick handles and isn't an average defender by any means (like Parker is).
Once Tony Parker wins a Finals MVP and/or ices 4 straight free throws to put a game 7 series AWAY to bed then you can come at me with that Parker being on Billups level argument. Until then Billups>>>>>>>Parker.

I can also say that if the brawl incident hadn't have happened earlier this year that Miami wouldn't be a number one seed and they might not even be in the ECF's. I can make a **** load of excuses too but you're the only one doing that.
What do you mean I haven't commented on it. Wade had a strained rib muscle, which is a very minor injury as far as basketball goes. It doesn't have to do with your running and it doesn't affect your shot like you might think it would. I've played basketball my entire life and played at the varsity level for a very good HS team and have played with worse injuries than a strained rib. If Wade were so amazing he would have found a way to make his team win regardless of the injury. Wade was fine and took a game off so that he could come back as close to 100% as he could. I'd say Wade was at least 80% for that game and Shaq had a big time game and they still lost.
Again, do you make this many excuses for everything? Excuses are like *******s...everyones got one and they all stink.
oldgringo 06-07-2005, 05:21 PM good job by detroit...of course if wade was 100%, the final result mightve been different, or maybe not...either way, detroits going back to the finals, and they deserve it.
See this Alpha Male, no excuses here.
PG: Tony Parker is without question much quicker than Billups, and when he's on, he can get into the paint at will. He's also very adept at dishing the outlet pass once in the lane. Billups, on the other hand, is without a doubt much stronger physically and will probably be very effective posting up Parker. He's also a much more reliable free-throw shooter. Slight edge to Billups for his clutch play.
SG: I love the way both these guys play. Rip is the best player in the league at moving without the ball and his spot-up jumper is a thing of beauty. Manu has some of the best body control in the league. Add in the fact that he's left-handed and fearless and one can see why he's a beast on the court. He can be wild at times, but his hustle on both ends of the floor make up for that. Edge to Ginobili.
SF: What's interesting here is that they probably won't face each other all that much. Prince will probably be trying to contain Ginobili, while Bowen will be chasing Hamilton all over the court trying to stick a hand in his face. It is well known that they are two of the premier perimeter defenders in the league, but Prince's more well-rounded offense gives him the edge here.
PF: Tim Duncan is Tim Duncan. He has consistently improved with every series and has had time before the finals to heal his ankles. Sheed, like many have said, has been the x-factor for the Pistons. He has had some success defending Duncan in the past, but he was a little inconsistent offensively against Miami. He needs his A-game every night in order for the Pistons to beat the Spurs. Big edge to Duncan.
C: Nazr is a very nice garbage player who has helped the Spurs tremendously, especially on the offensive boards. (By garbage player, i don't mean he's garbage. Just that most of his points come from missed shots which he simply puts back, etc.) His offensive boards could play a key role. Ben Wallace is the anchor for the Piston's vaunting defense, and he will no doubt give Sheed help defending Duncan. Big edge to Wallace.
Bench: McDyess is a solid bench player and he along with Campbell give Detroit 12 more fouls to give on Duncan. I'm sure the Pistons will rotate Sheed, Wallace, McDyess, and Campbell to muscle and bully Duncan all series long, which could take its toll on Duncan. The Spurs bench is just as formidable with Udrih, who has had some nice moments in the playoffs. However, he has made some costly mistakes (look at the Denver series). He's iffy. Brent Barry has the capability to rain threes all night long and the Pistons have to respect that. When he's on fire, he spreads the offensive for the Spurs. Then ,of course, there's Big Shot Rob. Horry has been there all playoffs long for the Spurs, making key steals, rebounds, and of course, three-pointers. At the end of the game, he along with Parker, Ginobili, Bowen, and Duncan are the Spurs' best starting five. I give the slight edge to the Spurs.
Coach: Both have championship experience and are the two best coaches in the league, imo. Even.
I'm not gonna make an official prediction, but i know i'll be rooting for my Spurs.
oldgringo 06-07-2005, 05:24 PM how bout whoever wins there second championship is the better pg
Absolutely not. Whoever wins another championship is a better team. I don't get how you're still arguing abotu Parker. He really just isn't on Billups level right now. Maybe he could be in a few years but not right now. All you've done is shown those slightly different regular season numbers over and over...I could list a page of reasons and fact why Billups is a better PG right now. It's really easy to look good when you play alongside Duncan you know...
Tha Greatest 06-07-2005, 05:27 PM DETROIT STAND UP!!!!!!!!!!!!

oldgringo 06-07-2005, 05:41 PM Chauncey Billups:
-Defending champ and Finals MVP
-2nd team all defensive NBA. A good perimeter defender as well as good against bigger guards down in the lane.
-Maybe the most clutch player in the league, example is icing 4 free throws against Miami to keep the lead and end the series in game 7. Also makes more off balance, pressure threes than anyone in the league right now. Theres a reason his nickname is Mr. Big Shot.
-6'3, 210 pounds and extremely strong. He's a very hard cover for anyone being that he is quicker than a lot of 2 guards, can shoot 3 pointers with the best, can post up smaller PG's, and gets to the line about 6 times per game in the regular season. He also has very underrated handles.
-Has completely changed his game from being a shoot first point guard to being a pass first, shoot second guy. Of course he can do both because he's that damned good. He is one of the better 3 point shooters in the league and can hit the mid-range jumper very well too.
-Came into a Pistons program which needed a leader and he has now unquestionably become that. He is the field general and play caller for this team. He and Ben Wallace are the heart and soul.
-Has averaged very good numbers in the playoffs (significantly better than in the reg. season) and showed that he could really step up as a big-time PG. Only 1.8 turnovers per game against a Miami Heat team that is excellent defensively.
-39 min, 42% fg, 89% ft, 37%3pfg, 18ppg, 6.6apg, 4.1rpg, 1.0spg, .22bpg, 2.2 TO in the playoffs.
Emphasizing individual matchups in this finals barely scratches the surface on the outcome of the series (yes, i know that statement kind of makes my previous, long post somehwat pointless). These two squads are about the team effort. It will come down to which team can limit turnovers and perform in the fourth quarter, not one-on-one situations.

but all this talk means nothing until the finals begins so ill just leave it at that......

Absolutely. Whoever gets to the line, limits second and third chance oppotunities, limits turnovers, and wants it more will win this.
Damn I said that this exact series will happen, with it going 6 games and the Pistons winning since last summer. It will be very good to watch either way.

The last 2 years Chauncey Billups has probably been the most clutch player in the league.
Horry and Miller USED to be the most clutch, but show me all of those clutch situations where they won games or put **** into overtime last/this season and then you can bring them up.
I know those guys have been incredibly clutch over the span of their careers and are way more clutch all-time, but not recently and thats what im talking about here....I'm talking about in the league right NOW.

well the spurs are beating teams so handily, horry hasnt had an oppurtunity to win a game.
timmy is also very clutch, remember last year when he hit that fade away at the top of the key against the lakers than derek fisher hit the 4 tenths of a second shot. greatest finish to a game ever.

That's true. I wonder how the Spurs would have dealt with the Heat. We know that Shaq and Duncan like to go at it.
Truth 06-07-2005, 07:50 PM Oldgringo you get mad props from me...you said Detroit from the beginning.
THRILLAinmanila 06-07-2005, 07:52 PM I figure that Manu will be giving the Pistons a lot of headache
in the series, especially since he's been having a hell of a season.
Pistons ought not to concentrate solely on Timmy and overlook Manu too much. He will be key for the Spurs (along with Parker).
THRILLAinmanila 06-07-2005, 07:53 PM Oldgringo you get mad props from me...you said Detroit from the beginning.
So did I brother.
Me and OG have been screaming "Back to Back !" since the beginning of the season ;)
THRILLAinmanila 06-07-2005, 07:56 PM This will be a low-scoring, defensive-oriented series.
Pistons have 3 of the top 10 defenders in the league right
now, while the Spurs are a good defensive team too.
I don't see any team going over 100 points in any of the games.

That was, by far, the best finals I've ever seen. The Jazz played their hearts out, but the Bulls just had more talent. Rodman, Jordan, Pippen, Harper. The center sucked. (Longley)
