How long have you been boxing - Did it from 10-16 shattered my collarbone 2 weeks after turning 16 :****block and only started boxing again a month ago.
How much do you weigh - 81kg / 178 lbs
Whats your training routine like -
(All training is after work where I generally do quite a lot of lifting, moving things from 1 place to another and rushing to get too places)
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday in the B.Gym for 2 hours similar to yours obviously except Monday we usually go for a long distance run along the coast. Wed, Thurs and Fri doing general exercises, plyos, calisthenics, pads, shadow boxing, sparring etc etc.
Tuesday the gym isn't open so I usually spend the day shadow boxing, going for a jog and studying different styles of fighters.
Saturday the most exercise I do is walking to the pub.
Sunday same as Tuesday.
Will probably upload fights in time.

Mediocre in my skills but have a decent win/loss ratio, end up boxing dudes half my age because there are never any dudes my age in my weight division.

Undefeated in 12 matches so far, 2 provincial titles, Novice 2008, Open 2009, then just recently 2010 National Middleweight Champ.

I'm 24 years old.
I used to box from 17 to 21.
I started competition at 18 years old and I always was a "middleweight amateur" so 75 KG.
My training routine was like your, mon, wed, fri in the gym,and I was running a lil bit the week end.
Don't know if you already started kid.
But you have to have hard sparring sessions, then you will be ready to war.
Beginners win their fights with balls and stamina more than skills.
It's cool to train but you gotta be ready mentally, focused.
When I say focused,
I mean focused on your fight, you don't care, who is in the crowd,if your opponent look strong,YOU DON'T CARE,but focused on your fight,on what you are doing.

How long have you been boxing? Little over 2 years
How much do you weigh? 141lbs/64kg
Whats your training routine like? im in the gym around 2,5-3 hours a day 5 days a week. shadowboxing 10+ rounds, heavybag 3+ rounds, double end bag 3 rounds, speedbag 15min straight, jumprope 15min straight. sparring is inconsistent, i sparr atleast 3 times a week though (monday, wednesday, friday) sometimes more. usually 3-4 rounds, atleast 2, 6 at most. i try to switch up my groundwork for maximum progress. i run 3 times a week (tuesday, thursday & saturday) i also do groundwork on saturday.
i used to do that anyways, got sick recently and have been out of the gym a while. just started running again like 2 weeks ago, done some basic groundwork too so i wont die once i get back in the gym. hopefully ill be back monday, ill have to build up to my old routine though.

boxing total of 10 years
but took couple off for injuries and having to work.
which slowed me from turning pro years ago. last year i herniated 2 disc in my neck and was out for months for therapy and then getting back
in shape. 2 years before that i broke my hand. then times i had to take breaks to work
full time and pay my bills.

im 5'11 178 turning pro this summer at 168
training starts at 4 or depending when i get in. start off with 5-6 rounds jumping rope no breaks, then i stretch my body. then 4-8 rounds of pad work no rest bell 4-8 rounds on bag then i do whatever extra drills my coach runs for me. end off day with ab work and pull ups pushups dips and other strength training.
sparring days jsut jump rope spar do pad work after or bag work then strength and ab workouts.
when i dont work in morning i run 3-5 miles

I'm not old like most people on boxing scene. I got youth on my side. I just didn't want to waste my time screwin around in the ams. I spent majority of my life with Martial Arts, so fighting isn't something that I am new to.
I could have more am fights but like I said, things happened. And I still don't want to fight 86 ams and then go pro. That **** is gay. I rather go pro, fight some bums, then hopefully get good as I go. Worry about getting golden boy type contracts later. Thats the only benefit of having 203 am fights. You have better opportunity to get signed by the big dogs.

It's just getting in rounds. It's not mandatory. Like I said, it's not like I just up and decided I wanted to fight. I've been doing martial arts since I was 4. The discipline is there, the athleticism is there(i've played every major US sport), the pain threshold is there. Everything that I need for boxing, I already have. I didn't decide to box until 18-19, not started learning to fight at 18-19.
I'm not worried about it. I like boxing because it's the most difficult out of the three. MMA and Kickboxing is easy as ****, it plays right into what I have learned basically my whole life.

Yeah but heres the thing about your whole going pro and fighting bums thing, youre not a promoter, you dont decide who you are going to fight. And what happens if you do fight a "bum" and he kicks your ass? It doesnt matter if you have been "fighting" your whole life, I dont care what martial arts youve trained, they arent the same as boxing. So dont come in here acting like you'll be a great boxer, just because youve taken part in some jui-jitsiu tournaments, karate tournys, or MMA matches... None of that **** is the same as a professional, or amateur boxing match for that matter, if your fighting someone who's atleast halfway decent... And just because youve played every major US sport, does not mean youre athletic either, Ive played every major US sport as well besides Hockey, I played on my high school baseball, basketball, and football teams, and even soccer when I was growing up a few years, and while I excelled in baseball and basketball, I completely SUCKED at soccer, and was decent in football. I knew guys who werent even on the football team in high school who were better than some of my team mates... If you see what im trying to say, it's that just because you play all sports doesnt qualify you as athletic, because you could suck major ass at every one of them, but still be able to play... and again, even if you were Lebron James in basketball, Sydney Crosby in hockey, Albert Pujols in baseball, Ronaldhino of soccer, and the Peyton Manning of football, hell even the George St. Pierre of MMA, that does NOT make you any better of a BOXER than anyone else in the amateurs, which is why you need to test yourself in the amateurs enough first... 3 fights is not enough, and once you go pro and lose, and lose, then you'll get fed to up and comers who were amateur standouts, and they'll have had experiences in the amateurs that you havent encountered, and make light work of you, just because you thought you were better than you actually were... And you dont want to end up like that, cuz of course you know, once you turn pro, you cant go back to the amateurs... Which is why you should want to fight in the amateurs first, and make mistakes there, have MANY different experiences there, and learn there, not learn as you go in the pro, because youll just keep losing, and not end up being able to do anything about it or make it big... And you'll wish you had just took the time to fight in the ams.... I dont mean to bash or hate at all man, as far as I know you could be the next Sugar Ray Leonard, but you must find that out for yourself first, in the amateurs, fight in open tournaments against the best amateurs, and that's where you have your faults and experiences, and perhaps triumphs.. If you fight against the best amateurs, when you turn pro and they feed you with ****-ons, you'll thank yourself for doing it. Because the best amateurs will totally **** on half of the pros... If you can make it close against them, or beat them, then you will most likely be able to make some noise in the pro's....

I disagree. There are some actual fighters in this forum, they don't post as much but they're out there, you can tell when they post. Theres a few good trainers, and some who know a lot about nutrition/supplements/training as well. This forum gets a bit annoying every once in a while that's the reason some of the good posters and experienced guys don't come in here as much.
ntate88 04-10-2010, 08:44 AM my record is 8-0 i aready posted it.
most of the routines people are posting on here are routines that pro's do and is just so unbeleivably unrealistic. im not saying everyone is lying but a high majority are its just fact.
if this many people were training that hard everyday without fail we would have a lot more world champions!!
My routine is hard but its not an all year round routine its a hard intense workout i do weeks before a fight.
amateur boxers dont need to train like pros, im 8-0 so i should kno
ntate88 04-10-2010, 08:46 AM btw i would give a link to a website where my name and record is posted but then you guys dont actually know if its me so its pretty pointless but at least i am willing to prove im genuine.
Thats what we should do!!! take a picture of your boxing card with your records on it and put it on yur sig or something

No, it ain't just getting in rounds bro. That "getting in rounds" develops your skills, awareness, and mental side of your game more than anything else. That's why most pros have a good amateur background.
Sure, you might be athletic, experienced in other forms of fighting, know how to push yourself, but none of that replaces substantial real competition experience.
Good luck anyway, but you know I'm just sayin it's more than just getting in rounds.

Yeah. There's Domey who is clearly an experienced fighter, I take notice of what he says. Plus Punchdrunk the trainer, but unfortunately he isn't around much anymore, I see he logs in every once in a while though.

I ain't reading all that. No paragraphs, it's like a big block of text man.
I just don't like the amateurs, I can't spend all the time in the world on the ams. I'm not 16 years old, I don't have time to rack up 160 am fights. Ya know? I really don't got a problem going to the pros. It's not like I'm one of those guys with videos of shadow boxing like Pacquiao and then claiming to be good enough for the pros. I know what works and what don't work at the stage I'm at. I lead with my jab, i mix it up(top-bottom), I use head movement, then add that to my natural skill. I would just have to take it slow with the pros, don't get ahead of myself, ya know?
danj.lizotte 04-11-2010, 12:46 AM flicker youre the biggest ****in idiot on this forum, i bet you dont have any fights because if you do you wouldnt be such an idiot about the amateur system and how the top amateurs are better than most of the pros.

You can go into boxing with no amateur fights if you want. Ding dong. Who the **** are you to talk huh? You haven't even been on this site long enough to talk about who is the biggest idiot on the forum. What about you, do you box? Huh? You only came in here talking **** but you got nothing yourself. Dont say **** to me about how I do my thing unless you do it yourself dick head.

Whats your training routine like - Train Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday for 2 hours. Mainly just do technique and drill it. Spar every now and then.
Wednesday and Saturday are Circuit Training days. Though I show up an hour & half early and do the punchers circuit.
But most of the time we dont do boxing, its an MMA club, aint nowhere else to train.
Though me and my friend mainly work on boxing:biggthump
