Zab Super Judah 06-03-2005, 08:50 PM hopkins has said that he wants to end his career by beating the last person to beat him........its going to be jermain taylor then winner of tarver/johnson then roy jones jr at 175..he could very well end his career going 1-2 or even 0-3

I dont think Roy would ever fight Hopkins now, and I dont even think the fight would be competitive but it would be nice to see

i dont think roy jones gains anythign frmo beating hopkins at 175 becuase if he wins poeple will just say hes too big and hopkins is moving up..he may gain financially though
Super_Lightweight 06-03-2005, 08:56 PM It would be competitive, because Hopkins has no power, is much less willing to use what power he has, and is old as hell. Roy is also old and has been fighting bigger guys his whole career.
I don't think they should fight though. I mean, I would watch, but afterwards have to listen to babbling idiots who think the result actually means something. It doesn't mean much if anything. They should have fought 3-5 years ago.

That means we will have Hopkins-Taylor II... :D
Manny_P 06-03-2005, 09:01 PM Nuthin is betta than two fightas fightin their best at their primes, so Idunno what to say bout this one.
Hopkins vs Jones will be a big fight no doubt bout that, but I dont think either of em will get big credit of beatin the other.

actaully i believe hopkins gains becuase when poeple look at his career they will see that he moved up and even beat the top guys at 175
as214 06-03-2005, 09:12 PM If Hopkins wins against Taylor and then moves up to 175 and beats Johnson/Tarver winner, I feel boxing PURISTS and HISTORIANS will rank him equal to Roy Jones!! However, it is a very dangerous fight for Roy to take against Hopkins from the perspective of legacy.. If Hopkins beats one of the two men that knocked Jones out and then beats Roy at 175..that may be enough to thrust Hopkins ahead of Jones as far as all time who was greater.. Whatever the sport, history tends to be kinder to longevity.. Take Nolan Ryan .. A mediocre to slighty above average pitcher who did it for so long that he is put on a pedestal and talked with the likes of Sandy Koufax and Louis Tiant.. Hopkins 20 plus potential defenses make this possible for him as well!!
TheGreat1 06-03-2005, 09:21 PM RJJ would beat hopkins worse now then he did before. RJJ has no fear of BHOP's power, and would be able to fight his fight, RJJ is still quicker, and stronger than hopkins, easy fight for roy. both of them should stay away from tarver.

I disagree with the last statement. Roy should get his spark, and take Tarver on again.

yea I said that, but I said he wont get big credit fo doin so.
WHY?: 1, becuz Hopkins shoulda moved up years ago. Peeps already disrespect him fo stayin at 160lbs fo eva!
2, What the hell would B-Hop gain fo beatin a fighta he's beaten before? Im talkin bout Johnson.
3. Beating Jones would be coo bcuz he would avenge his loss. But, shiznite, would Hopkins get a tons of credit fo beating a fighta Tarver and Johnson KOed?
You gotta also look at the scenerios homie. This fight schedule Hopkins is talkin is a good 2 year time span. Lots of shiznites can happen. Like the one Im talkin that Taylor whoops him.
LOL. Take it eazy homie and keep em rims spinnin like ice be gleamin!
The Fix 06-03-2005, 09:29 PM i doubt it happens but it would be nice to see.
i know both fighters hate each other but you can sence the mutual respect between the two.
Manny_P 06-03-2005, 09:30 PM I disagree with the last statement. Roy should get his spark, and take Tarver on again.
I think Tarver would whoop Jones again.
BadMagick 06-03-2005, 09:32 PM I think Tarver would whoop Jones again.
Jones would fight a much smarter fight. He won the first time, and got caught the second. He wouldn't make the same mistakes he made in the second fight. The first was close, but I gave it to Jones, maybe because I'm biased, but I don't think so. Jones might fight a boring fight, but he'd UD him.

i think most had it 7-5 for jones
honestly iam biased, i had it 8-4

Yeah, I really don't see why so many people said it was "contraversial." I thought it was a pretty fair call. He was looking great in the second fight, too, then he got caught. (I thought he really had Tarver in round 1, round 2 was pretty even)

Maybe. I jest dont like what Jones did versus Tarver and Johnson. Why was he choosin to get stuck in the ropes/corner like that? Was he tryin the "Muhammad Ali"?! If he dont do that, I guess he can win gainst Tarver.
Johnson is harder fight fo Jones becuz Johnson dont stop firing. The fact alone that Jones wont hurt Johnson is enough fo Johnson to be confident to pummel Jones, AGAIN.
Tarver runs out o gas in the end, Johnson dont stop. But sumtimes, I feel that Tarver jest has the magic (Magic Man), to destroy Roy's style.
snipes12 06-03-2005, 09:41 PM b-hop i think will win and avenge to rjj loss

Roy was tired from weight loss in the first fight. The Johnson fight, he didn't even look like he wanted to be there. That wasn't Roy in that fight.
I'm off to do a project, though. If I remember about this, I'll come back tomorrow.
shemmue 06-03-2005, 09:53 PM this fight should of happened years ago by the time they fight rjj would be like 37-38 bhop like 41-42 ..
realheavyhands 06-03-2005, 11:29 PM hopkins is technically perfect and walks around at about 180 in shape
trinidadpr87 06-03-2005, 11:31 PM He shouldn't fight RJJ unless he wants to leave boxing with a loss. :boxing:
realheavyhands 06-03-2005, 11:39 PM if he won he would go down in history as the greatest middle weight who ever lived if he beat jones and tarver johnson winner.. it never been done 160 straight to 175...ray robinson tried but couldnt
jack_the_rippuh 06-03-2005, 11:59 PM If he beats Taylor and beats his convincingly, then takes on Tarver, beats him and then takes on Roy Jones Jr. and beats him, he'll be the greatest fighter of this era.
