View Full Version : What if? Naseem vs. JMM
as214 06-03-2005, 07:57 PM This would have been a great matchup.. My gut tells me that JMM would have countered the hell out of Nas.. But then again, I dont think Nas would have been as tentative aginst JMM as he was against Barerra ..for he respected Barerras power more. Is it possible that Nas drops JMM as he would be more free swinging for less fear of getting hurt, or does he easily get outboxed?
.::|ULTIMATE|::. 06-03-2005, 08:01 PM JMM would have taken what Barrera did to another level.
JMM was just as quick if not quicker, bigger pop, and better at the outside game.
Naseem wasnt tentative because he wanted to be, it was because he had no choice Barrera kept popping him with shots he didnt see.
Gsand 06-03-2005, 08:07 PM prime hamed beats them all
hamed at the barrera stage gets owned by marquez-he was long past his best by then, mainly by his own fault-laziness, arrogance, changing trainer, messing with his style.
also we note that the barrera match was by no means a massacre, yes he lost clearly but hamed won 4-5 rounds on the scorecards as i remember???

Prime Hamed would lose to Barerra, Morales, and JMM!! He would always have a punchers chance but to beat those guys would require an accumulation of punches. You will never KO any of them with just one punch from the middle of nowhere.. Hamed was vastly ovverated!!

WHEN HAMED FOUGHT BARRERA HE WAS IN HIS PRIME. AND IF U REALLY WATCHED THE FIGHT HAMED WAS FUSTRATED AND COULDNT DO ANYTHING AND YES WAS DOMINATED
JMM would have made HAmed quit...
MArquez may have the heavist hands of all of the little guys, MAB does not have the power that JMM does without a doubt.
HAmed would have broken ear drums and be forced to quit in the latter rounds...my friend DLT taught me about something that goes like this "styles make fights" and I would give HAmed a better chance with Morales than with HAmed because Erik would allow a brawl to break out every now and then.
JMM would just counter Hamed until he quit.
i think hamed would beat marquez, his power is amazing, n he comes from all angles... hameds power is unheard of
Shaolin Bushido 06-04-2005, 01:47 PM Naz pursues a retrating and counterign JMM but still wins a comfortable decision ... cause he knocks JMM down twice along the way.
Tha Greatest 06-04-2005, 01:53 PM I was reading a interview with Emanuel Steward...
He said Hamed HATED sparring...he said he liked to do boxing workouts and stuff but never wanted to sparr....that he hated sparring for some reason...
so Hamed didnt agree with Emanuel Steward and Manny said, Hameds team would tell him the opposite of what Manny says...so he didnt really wanna work with the prince...
Manny said he only worked with Hamed "5 times" before the fight with Barrera....
Imagine what Hamed could've been if he was actually more disciplined..
Either way my boy Barrera whooped Hamed, and Hamed was a discgrace to Kronk..
SnoopySmurf 06-04-2005, 01:55 PM Naseem was not past his prime when he lost to Barrera. It's rediculous to make such statements in the first place.

IwatchBoxing 06-04-2005, 02:21 PM I think some of the most popular boxers (Trinidad, Tyson, Hammed, DLH, ect...) are popular cause they are fun to watch, cause their personalities, and love of life outside of boxing wont ever let them commet to boxing 100% percent. He was too much of a free spirit, as to Hopkins, who allways has his A game on, cause he lives and breathes boxing.
Gsand 06-04-2005, 02:25 PM how is it ridiculous to say he was past his prime???
of course he was, he wasnt training, he was messing with his original style, he wasnt prepared, motivated and he didnt perform...theres always a risk that success goes to a boxers head and it did. if he had accepted his loss, gone back to ingle and really worked hard he could easily have gone back to his old victorious ways
no disrespect to barrera who is an incredible incredible boxer who was clearly stronger on the night

HAHA u know **** about his life and his career if u think that.
sisforshaq 06-04-2005, 05:27 PM Hamed was good to watch, i never hated him or liked him to much. I always watched his fights to see his ridiclous style and his entrances. I duno about him beating JMM, would be a good fight though I think because its the classic match of a boxer vs a puncher but in this case a very un orthodox puncher.

The answer is simple. JMM chased Naseem for a couiple years, trying to get a fight. Naseem ducked him. This is fact.
Let's say they had met though, at the time JMM wanted that fight. The outcome would have been exactly the way both JMM and Naseem figured it would be ..... a unanimous decision boxing lesson.
