!! Mr. Soprano 06-03-2005, 11:54 AM WoW, Tszyu does not look 35!
Guy looks 21
The Fix 06-03-2005, 11:57 AM hattons face makes him look like a skeleton
jack_the_rippuh 06-03-2005, 12:01 PM Kostya By Vicious Ko In 3!!!
Dr O Strich 06-03-2005, 12:02 PM To me, Hatton looks weight drained. Over training could be a problem.

COming from a "Dr" it's a good thing lol
Martin (Top Knowledge) 06-03-2005, 12:06 PM To me, Hatton looks weight drained. Over training could be a problem.
Hatton did grab a pint of water after he got off the scales!
Super_Lightweight 06-03-2005, 12:09 PM Hatton is like 26 years old and there an't no way he's weight-drained. He's made this weight like 35 times. There is no problem. Fighters always look like that at the weigh-in because they are dehydrated. Tszyu looks just as "weight-drained". Look at his face. Dude needs some gatorade for real.
:boxing: :boxing: :boxing:
jack_the_rippuh 06-03-2005, 12:09 PM Hatton did grab a pint of water after he got off the scales!
Perhaps a sign that he won't be at 140lbs. for too long?
{BrownBomber} 06-03-2005, 12:12 PM Hatton did grab a pint of water after he got off the scales!
DOes that mean hatton will come in at fight night weighing 155?
He is taller than Tzsu and now it seems he is gonna be heavier.
Hmmmmmm......If he can take a world class punch then we are in for a treat.
BrooklynBomber 06-03-2005, 12:12 PM Both fighters look to be inshape and well prepared. Tszyu looks like his usual self. Only he has better definition of abs than usual. Hatton looks ripped but at the same time a bit weight drained. I hope its just his pale skin and he is at his 100 percent. Hope both fighters will give their best.
Go Kostya.
Btw Hatton looked kinda nervous, while Tszyu looked relaxed and calm as usual.
Super_Lightweight 06-03-2005, 12:15 PM Btw Hatton looked kinda nervous, while Tszyu looked relaxed and calm as usual.
Funny how the Brits are all saying just the opposite. Wonder who is really right and who is just wearing rose-colored glasses...

I thought Hatton was the one who look a bit more calm. Either way it doesn't really matter... Hatton has said that he's always more nervous about the weighin than the fight itself. He said, "Once I've made the weighin all the pressure is lifted".
Dr O Strich 06-03-2005, 12:16 PM >>Hatton is like 26 years old and there an't no way he's weight-drained.
It has little to do with age.
And conversely, Tszyu does not look weight drained at all.
It's in the face. The tight skin.
Cletus Funk 06-03-2005, 12:17 PM I'd be surprised if both of them weren't nervous.

are ya surprised hattons nervous.
hes gotta fight arguably the best of the division in his own hometown .
if i wasnt lazy id find some previous hatton weigh in photos
to compare with the current one. & maybe some of tsyzu although
he looks as perfect as a 35 yr olds gonna get. ripped & ready
!! Mr. Soprano 06-03-2005, 12:44 PM How long before the weigh-in do fighters limit themselves from intake of any fluids?
JUYJUY 06-03-2005, 12:55 PM I saw the weigh-in live, and actually seeing them move about you'd have to say that Hatton looked more lively, confident and much bigger.
Photo's are different, they are stills.
Tyszu's photo is taken much closer than Hatton's photo, but when they were next to eachother it was Hatton who looked bigger and more ripped than he does in the photo's.
Oh and Hatton will fill out to 160 come fight time!!
jchavez12345 06-03-2005, 12:59 PM all i know is that i cant wait for this one to go down, hopefully its action packed which it should be
oldgringo 06-03-2005, 01:10 PM I wonder if this will be Spinks/Judah all over agian...with the hometown guy being KO'd in his own backyard.
I think Hatton is going to win. I want Tszyu to win, but I think Hatton will survive a few of his big shots and will get nasty on him in the late rounds.
elveiel 06-03-2005, 01:21 PM To me, Hatton looks weight drained. Over training could be a problem.
Hatton looks exactly the same as he always does, he's probably too big for 140 but at least its nothing new and he'll be fine for fight night.
I wanna know how the **** Scott Harrison makes weight, now thats serious weight drained!!
`STEELHEAD 06-03-2005, 02:01 PM hattons looks like he's in his late thirtys. tszyu looks like he's in his twenties. this will be an easy one for tszyu.hope it goes atleast to middle rounds so tszyu can get a workout.then on to bigger and better fights . tszyu is looking and smiling at his bankbook. smart move taking this tuneup.
tri4ben2 06-03-2005, 02:26 PM Showtime will probably show what their weight was when they were in their locker rooms before the fight.
Right now cutting 15 pounds of weight is not a big deal and every world class fighter has people around them that know exactly what they are doing.
I just hope that Hatton can take a Zoo right hand. I would say that Hatton can win every round against Zoo, but I would not be surprised if Hatton won the first 4 rounds and got KTFO in the 5th or something along those lines.
QueenCity 06-03-2005, 02:33 PM It looks like both guys are in top shape and I think this match-up will bring a lot of excitement, until Tszyu eventully knocks Ricky into next weeek.
Manny_P 06-03-2005, 02:38 PM Hatton looks sexy, but nowhere as sexy as Holyfield. Anyways, go get em Ricky! Arggg!
ELPacman 06-03-2005, 02:41 PM Kostya said it best, somewhere along the lines, the Kostya of 35 could beat the Kostya of 25.
Mick Hucknall 06-03-2005, 02:53 PM I thin Hatton does look more nervous than Tszyu. Its expected Hatton ain't had a fight this tough and this big before so hes bound to be nervous. Where as for Tszyu its like a typical run of the mill fight.
tracylee 06-03-2005, 03:03 PM To me, Hatton looks weight drained. Over training could be a problem.
He does look real skinny!

Yep, I would compare this fight to when Hatton's favorite soccer team Manchester City takes on Manchester United. Man U's already been the best there is for so long they know what it's like on top and there ready for all on-commers no matter how hungery they are. Man U is the team that has everything to lose and little to gain but there experence in these big games allow them to dominate.
Upper Cut 06-03-2005, 03:12 PM Interesting...
Brits are saying Hatton wins..
American's are saying this is an easy fight for Tszyu (someone even called it a tune up)
I say everyone is underestimating the opposition. It will be a tough fight for both and could go either way.
theironone 06-03-2005, 03:14 PM I'm getting really excited about this now, can't weait, i think nearly all fighters look both confident and nervous at weigh ins, usually a world of difference before and after stepping on the scales, they are both bloaters in bewteen fights so do work very hard to make the weight, I watched coverage and Hatton did look bigger as they weighed in, but both look like death warmed up!!!!
Once they've replenished themselves they'll look loads better, Hatton looks too pale anyway, the boy needs a tan of some sort!!! LOL
My head is going with Kostya, I think either Zoo in 9 or 10 or Hatton on points (but my heart is with that prediction :D), I'd be amazed if Zoo chins him early or if Hatton gets the stoppage.
However the fight goes i think both winner and loser will come out with more credit.
Bozo_no no 06-03-2005, 03:16 PM If he can take a world class punch then we are in for a treat.

I agree...although I think KT wins this, I dont think it's gonna be easy for him..not at all!
DR. FREECLOUD 06-03-2005, 03:27 PM this fight is going to be very interesying to see. with hatton moving into the elite level finally and tszyu a veteran in the elites who may be starting to age. the funny thing about tszyu is that he is alot like tito in terms of power. when you see him beside an opponent he sometimes looks smaller. but that doesn't mean ****. once they decide to go toe to toe and feel that power then the canvas....well you get the picture. just because ricky appears to be the stronger of the 2 in the pics doesn't mean he has more power. as much as i want to see hatton accell i feel tszyu may still be a little too much. i predict a deep water stoppage. tszyu wins this one.

If Kostya will land his right like that Hatton will not get up. I would love to see the "Chicken Dance II"
Knicksman20 06-03-2005, 03:43 PM KT is gonna systematically pick Hatton apart & punish him when he misses. Hatton isn't ready for a fighter that has smarts along with the power to hurt you with one punch. I remember when Hatton was caught with a stiff uppercut from Phillips, & he was in trouble. I picture KT landing one of his & nearly decapitating him. Deep down I think Hatton knows he's not ready, but this is a win win situation for him. If he wins he becomes champ & gains notoriety. If he loses, he lost to the undisputed of the division which there's no shame in that.

or you may be totally wrong & this could be similar to mitchell-tsyzu II
simeraksou 06-03-2005, 04:51 PM I believe that based on power, talent, skills and ring experience.. Tszyu blows him out easily! This will be a devastating knockout that silences the crowd

if i was tsyzu i wouldnt even wait for the final verdict when he koes hatton

Who is this unknown fella' beating Hatton to the punch?
Tha Greatest 06-03-2005, 05:11 PM Everytime a fighter weighs in and he gets critised for somethin and from my experience they have usually won...
Everyone thought Barrera looked huge for EM in their 3rd fight
(Barrera won)
Everyone thinks Hopkins looks skinny as hell at his weigh ins
(always wins)
Everyone thought Jesus Chavez looked fat
(Chavez won)
Just sayin....
This fight can go anywhere
BrooklynBomber 06-03-2005, 05:37 PM Who is this unknown fella' beating Hatton to the punch?
Eamon Maggee, I guess
Gsand 06-03-2005, 05:41 PM eamon magee was pretty good at the time though...as far as im aware he was in the top 10 in a number of asociations and was in line to fight sharmba mitchell but he was physically attacked by scumbags and seriously injured...he has just comeback now and won his first fight...it wasnt trash that put hatton down...
magee is no tszyu buts hes no slouch and in fairness to hatton that was a number of years ago and it was no more than a flash kd

EXIGE 06-03-2005, 05:54 PM The crowd wont need to jump into the ring as some1 has mentioned, cos he is gonna get done after 6 rounds.
I have placed 2000000 on Hatton KO/TKO after 6 rounds and i know he is gonna do it. Either that or a UD to Hatton. Trust me
!! Mr. Soprano 06-03-2005, 06:38 PM Who is this unknown fella' beating Hatton to the punch?I think Eamonn Magee
EDIT:
Sorry this was already posted
fazered 06-03-2005, 06:51 PM I watched it live and have to say that Hatton didn't look at drained as he does in the pictures. He also looked a lot more confident and relaxed than he did at the press conference.
I was surprised by Tszyu hainv got take 30 mins to drop the 3 ounces and surprised he was over in the first place. I don't think it will have that much affect but with all his preperation I thought he would be spot on.

its obvious that tszyu is gonna blow him out. the hatton fans excuses should be fairly entertaining though
fazered 06-03-2005, 07:29 PM There won't be any need for excuses. Tsyzu is one of the best best boxers on earth, now or ever. There is no shame in losing to him.

this is a good money tuneup for tszyu. he's smiling all the way to the bank. the ref is going to be scaired by the hatton fans so i hope hatton isnt left in there too long.
m00ks 06-04-2005, 02:13 AM If Hatton does come in at 160 come fight, he wants the size advantage that Phillipps had. The reason Phillipps won that fight was because of all the body punches that Vince invested. And I'm sure being a devastating body puncher, that's where he's betting. Thing is there's really no proven blueprint to beat Tszyu cuz that happened 8 years ago. That's why KT said that the 35 year old Tszyu can crush the 25 year old Tszyu to acknowledge Hatton's plan. I also don't like Hatton's untested chin, and KT's power is not exactly a safe gauge.
And if there's anyone of the two that should be more nervous it should be Tszyu, he's the champ who's a 5:1 favorite.
Also might be a reason Tszyu didnt mind fighting in England, how much more preassure if he was fighting in front of his home crowd facing a dangerous young opponent, and being a 5:1 favorite...

hatton throws those wide european punches. and i think he's stuck at fighting one way. hattons questionable power busy work rate and good bodypunches in previous fights against second tier fighters won't have the same effects on an expierence guy like tszyu who always shows up in the best of shape and always makes intelligent adjustments.
tszyu is the most calmest fighter iv'e ever seen. he's never shown that he gets ruffled fighting away from home. altho i must say no boxer should ever fight in puerto rico or germany.
Thanks for the photos :biggthump

I think you overestimate the pressure there is in being favourite. Believe me, with thousands of Aussies cheering Tszyu on, he would hardly be nervous fighting out of Australia. That kind of adrenalin is worth a lot. That's why Tszyu is taking it to Hatton - he wants to challenge himself and take on all comers.
That, and the money :)

Hehe, Tszyu is very calm, I guess because of his experience. I remember seeing him take a shot from Zab in Round 1 and thinking 'Oh ****!' but even though Zab wanted to go for the kill and the crowd was going ape****, he just worked through it like a pro.
And f*ck fighting in Germany.

About fighting in Germany or withgermans. Tszyu got robbed in olympics by some german fighter, who he dropped twice(I know kd's dont count in am's) and dominated the whole fight. Just a little side information about german boxing. Funny though, Tszyu year later, met that fighter again and ko'ed him.
