Golota To Be Given Another Chance, against Valuev

By Rick Reeno

The Chicago Tribune reports that Andrew Golota will be given the opportunity to gain another title shot. Don King has apparently said that he will not give up on Andrew Golota and plans to put him in a WBA elimination bout on August 13th. The bout will take place in the United Center, located in Golota's hometown of Chicago. King said that Golota's opponent is slated to be the 7 foot Nicolay Valuev of Russia. Valuev became the WBA's number one contender upon knocking out Clifford Ettiene on May 14th, 2005.

"I'm not going to give up on Golota, and I hope the Polish people don't. We're going to revitalize Golota's career. He got caught (by Brewster). It could happen to anyone." said King

The bout will be the first televised showcase of Valuev in the United States. The Golota-Valuev encounter will land on the undercard of the WBC eliminator between Monte Barrett and Hasim Rahman, welterweight king Zab Judah is also slated for the show.

Golota needs to just go into hiding somewhere.

Sigh...is right. King maybe just wants to avoid putting Ruiz in with Valuev like he's supposed to cause his hugging won't work against a giant like that.

thats bull****, he gets all these chances and yet fighters like monte barrett get nothing.

Yeah apparently Golota gets yet ANOTHER chance according to Rick's front page article. After his humiliating shut out last week King says he won't give up on him for the 4th time! Instead, he's going to match him up against another giant Euro, Valuev.

I think Golota would win this and strangely I think it may actually be entertaining to watch, but King is really pissing me off. He never lets ANYONE fight for unification! ****!

I think Golota and King share something special.

Golota probably deflowered waaaaaaay back in the day...

...and well, you know how that goes.

This Is Sad And Pathetic At The Same Time. **** Like This Puts Boxing In The State That Is At.

Don King Should Be Embarrassed To Do This.

And Andrew Golota, What Ever Happend To Having Some Pride, Dignity And Knowing When To Quit.

He didn't directly do it...whoever merged it did it...he just made another thread so I'm using him as a scapegoat.

Anyway, has anyone ever gotten more undeserved chances at the title than Golota? Jesus he's lucky for no reason...

His title sounds angrier than yours. I think it better fits the way people feel about this.

Yeah I agree, if that ****er won't retire, at least let him fight a couple bums to make it look at least somewhat justifiable, and let one of these guys that are making some progress a shot at it. This coming from a Golota fan lol

It's a title eliminator...hence, another shot at the title should he beat Valuev.

I hope Don King makes Golota go back to being trained by Lou Duva and/or Roger Bloodworth. If he stays with Colonna and the fights the way he has fought the last 3 or 4 fights he is gonna be KO'd in the 1st round again.

Colonna is to Golota what Alan Snowell is to Mike Tyson, IMO.

And what Cryptonite is to Superman lol

Lou Duva is an overrated trainer, he has nothing on Mayweather Sr.

He trained EVander Holyfield and alot of other good fighters. He is a good trainer for Golota I know that. Duva has trained more Champion fighters than Mayweather Sr has.

Wow...what the hell are complaining for? You all are acting like a nuch of babies. Barrett is getting a hell of a chance by fighting Rahman (a Don King fighter) and if he wins he gets Klitschko.

Golota is facing Valuev. No one cares about this giant monkey. Anyway, Golota was thought to have beaten Ruiz and Byrd by many, so he is just as legit as anyone else at heavyweight.

Stop the cryin' already.

this is fight already listed by Boxrec.

"Scheduled Bout date opponent wld last 6 location ticket number
2005-08-13 Andrew Golota 38-6-1
United Center, Chicago, IL, USA

So in fact another title shot for Golota.

Andrew Golota

"Scheduled Bout date opponent wld last 6 location ticket number

this sounds like a pretty good card.

Ross purrity is getting pretty old maybe Golota can replace him.

Why does Don King have so much love for Andrew Golota ? What did Andrew Golota ever do in the ring to deserve so many title shots? After the Ruiz-Toney match, King was ready to dump Ruiz! Is Golota so much more entertaining than Ruiz? I think not; at least Ruiz doesn't have emotional meltdowns like Golota and he does find a way to win. I personally would rather see a Ruiz-Valuev matchup.

King is realy pissing me off, why is there never unification bouts?

valuev is ruiz mandatory so why the hell would he fight golota.

golota had his chance.

id much rather se ruiz-valuv, i would be so much nicer watching ruiz get beaten to a bloddy pulp.

NO the WBA has no mandatory listed Valuev is listed as number 2 and the number 1 position in the WBA rankings is vacant.

Why does it say on Boxrec the fight between Valuev-Golota is for the "WBA international heavyweight title?" I thought Ruiz was the WBA title holder? WTF?

Are you kidding???

He is fighting on Monte Barrett's undercard for the WBC interim belt, which is much more important and a better opportunity than a fight with Valuev for nothing.

I can't believe Golota is going to be ready to fight again that fast.

He must have gone straight back into training.

hahahhahahahhahahahahahh

(this is funny because he didn't train for Brewster and he won't be trained for this fight either)

I wouldn't mind seeing Golota get broke up one more time.

Maybe he was thinking that it took a long time for Monte to a shot at a title. Of course he lost to Lance Whitaker and still got to fight Wlad, so there still isn't much to complain about.

he shoulda quit don king must be taking all his money or 95% of it cause no one even mike tyson doesnt deserve that much title shots.if he won those shots he probably would have all the belts available to heavyweights. not cause hes good cause don is on his dick.
