well the way i see it is this, kids who are brought up under a certain religion chose that religion because their parents are that religion, so in effect it's not a choice, it's what you are brought up with

and what about those who discover religion later in life ?
i was forced to be a christian by going to a church of england school.
but my mum is non religious + im way too skeptical & cynical
to believe all i was taught as i got older.
i remember being the only pupil at high (secondary) school
who refused to study christianity & instead did general RE.

well there's no problem with people who discover a certain religious belief later in life, because they have made their own mind up, without being forced into it by their parents.
My personal view is that ''a'' god might exist, but not the god that most religous people believe in,ie not the god that made man in his own image, i just think it's man made nonsence.

Q1: what do you admire most about religious people in general
Some sects encourage their followers to selflessly help their fellow man. This is to be admired and encouraged. Religion often inspires people to fight against oppression and against enormous odds.
Q2: what annoys you the most about religious people in general.
Many tend not to question teachings/dogma in their faith and are therefore EASILY manipulated by those in power. Most have trouble separating GOD and the religion they subscribe to. Instead of just believing what they believe, they believe that theirs is the only way.
Q3: have you ever been abused for your lack of religious beliefs & what happened
Sunday school. I was always the one who asked questions, and was chastised for my lack of faith/told I was going to hell etc. Instead of asking WHY I thought the way I did, I was dismissed as the voice of the devil.
Q4: for you what is the most beneficial aspect of being non religious
person.
Being spiritual instead of being religious. Being able to get a clearer view of the world. It is like when you are in a religion, you see the world from a 4th story window. When you are spiritual instead and look at religions from a scholastic standpoint, then I feel like I am looking out the window of a plane going above the clouds.

thanks LuKahnLi
i asked to many questions too but never had to do sunday school.
i too wish that some religious people would at least consider some
of the stuff they believe. how much longer are humans going to use
religion as a way to power & wealth when they preach about helping
thier fellow man .
