I knew Mir would get caught, he was fine with standing up and mixing it with Carwin, it was only a matter of time.

It's a shame tho, I like Mir and I never was a big believer of Carwin but.. a win is a win, no excuses..

Hopefully Mir will bounce back soon.

I was actually suprised Mir wanted to stand with carwin. Figured he would take him down where he actually would have a good chance. I thought he was just standing against carwin to try and show Brock that his standup is improved lol

I think ever since he knocked out Kongo, he got a bit too ****y/confident with his stand up.

Indeed, very ****y guy. Mir is very well rounded and talented but even as a fan I sometimes get tired of his constant b.s. talking.

I wonder what he will do next since Lesnar will be fighting Carwin and the winner of that fight will fight Cain Velasquez. He is out of the mix it seems.

Carwin kept the fight where he wanted it, which was basically in the clinch. Mir lacked both the strength and the technique to get Carwin to the ground. When Mir did impose the clinch on Carwin he was promptly reversed.

That's how I saw it at least. Haven't rewatched the fight yet.

Yeah he did horribly in the clinch. Probably would have done better in the stand up...

Carwin is the real deal. I knew his power would be too much for Mir. Brock is gonna get his swock knocked off....

hmmmmm... did the ref let it go a little too long??? But at least no one will complain about an early stoppage.

Nice. I didn't want to see Lesnar-Mir III. Lesnar-Carwin will be interesting.

Yeah, I think Miragliotta was waiting for Mir to be beaten into a coma...

It's Mir's fault. He should have been the first one to go for the take down, he looked conferable standing and mixing it with Carwin. Mir has the faster hands and is more accurate but you shouldn't do that with someone who is 11-0 with all 11 ko's in the first round. Like GSP said, every time you fight, you have to neutralize your opponent's strength and go for his weakness.

Congrats to Carwin for the win but I wish the fight would have gone longer and see Carwin in deep water, see what he's really made of. Oh well...

Mir couldn't have taken Carwin down. The closest thing he possibly could've done would be to pull guard (which I couldn't imagine going too well) or get taken down himself (which I think Cawin avoided). He seemed to have a chance when there was distance, but he had no chance in the clinch.

On a side note, this was the best Carwin we have ever seen.

And for the record, Carwin doesn't have all of his wins by knockout, he has submissions by guillotine as well. The 100% kayos was just UFC propaganda. Just saying for the sake of accuracy.
