View Full Version : Toney best HW out there
TheGreat1 09-18-2004, 10:20 PM Just wanted to remind everyone out there that Toney is still the best HW out there and will take over the Div in the very near future. his skills speak for it self. Hopefully he will get a chance to KO VK soon. THE GREAT ONE HAS SPOKEN

So I guess you're the Toney version of "christistheanswer"?
My turd is the best HW out there and I doubt anyone could beat it.
:p
PacKillsMorales 09-18-2004, 10:26 PM so whos he beat at heavyweight

You forget, in this day and age where the majority of sports fans have mental handicaps, they think that a great fighter is someone who beats an old, past his prime fighter and some B level fighters.
Plus Toney's just a fat ****, so he could in theory beat VK simply by sitting on him or jumping on him. :p

no its the fat toney motherf*cking turd eater
Marjoh 09-18-2004, 10:42 PM Well, it's only five more days till we see Toney back in action. But then again, he's win won't really prove much.
Dr Cynical 09-18-2004, 10:45 PM Well, it's only five more days till we see Toney back in action. But then again, he's win won't really prove much.
Got that right.
He should just quit boxing and go into training for that hot dog eating contest and see if he can beat that little asian guy.
PacKillsMorales 09-18-2004, 10:48 PM or maybe petition for a super heavy division for them super lardy bad ass mofos whod look better as rappers than boxers
Dr Cynical 09-18-2004, 10:52 PM or maybe petition for a super heavy division for them super lardy bad ass mofos whod look better as rappers than boxers
Or just do what we all know is going to happen sooner or later.
Three "hard fought" matches with Butterbean.
The first one is a pants trying on match, the second is an eating contest, and the third is either a "boxing" match or a let's see who has a heart attack first match.
Jiggaman6810 09-19-2004, 02:33 AM U guys are haters as simple as that. Yes, holyfield was old but he still is no chump. Toney made him look like one though. As far as counterpunching, speed, and ring awarness Toney is by far the best guy at heavyweight. He lacks the size to dominate a guy like Vitali but that doesnt mean he cant win. (i think Toney will TKO him late) Oh, and dont forget he has an iron jaw as well.

Toney is just a black Butterbean, it's as simple as that.
hollister 09-19-2004, 03:06 AM You forget that Jirov stunned him a couple of times, shame the whole fight isn't in the downloads section. He hasn't been hit yet by a hard, clean punch by a HW with a punch, and with the reach handicap, VK can pick his shots all night lol.

I don't know if VK can beat Toney in picking.
Toney has years of experience in picking.
You know, all those buffets and ****. :P
hollister 09-19-2004, 03:09 AM Lol tha's funny ****, you're on a roll tonight lol
hollister 09-19-2004, 03:11 AM Roy Clark might give him a run for his money though, he's got years of "pickin' and grinnin'" experience under his belt lol.
Dr Cynical 09-19-2004, 03:17 AM Lol tha's funny ****, you're on a roll tonight lol
lol Thanks.
Marjoh 09-19-2004, 02:40 PM Yeah, but the thing is, every body nowadays can make Holyfield look like a chump. Even the most hated heavyweight beat him, what was that bum's name again? Oh yeah, Ruiz.
But I think I remember reading an article a few weeks ago, Freddy claims that Toney is currently about 230lb. Which I really doubt.
Also, is it just me or those guys from DBSSP don't know a lot about boxing?
neils7147933 09-19-2004, 04:06 PM James Toney can not be considered the best heavyweight for the same reason Roy Jones can't - they have but one fight in that division!
Toney fights a guy with a perfect record but no credible opponents on Thursday. Anything less than a total domination and Toney isn't even in the Top 10.
realheavyhands 09-19-2004, 04:07 PM i dont know if vk will hit toney clean i never seen toney hit real clean ..but i just wanna know why vk wouldnt figh golota afta the bryd fight
TheGreat1 09-19-2004, 09:24 PM You forget that Jirov stunned him a couple of times, shame the whole fight isn't in the downloads section. He hasn't been hit yet by a hard, clean punch by a HW with a punch, and with the reach handicap, VK can pick his shots all night lol.
u r right, but don't you forget that Jirov hits very hard, look at what he did to Mesi, he could do that to the smaller Toney, he does have a iron chin.
TheGreat1 09-19-2004, 09:27 PM i dont know if vk will hit toney clean i never seen toney hit real clean ..but i just wanna know why vk wouldnt figh golota afta the bryd fight
VK wouldn't want to fight some one where he didn't have a reach advantage. he remembers what happen to his face when he fought LL.
Dr Cynical 09-19-2004, 09:31 PM VK wouldn't want to fight some one where he didn't have a reach advantage. he remembers what happen to his face when he fought LL.
I think VK doesn't want to fight Golota because he wants to keep his balls intact and still be able to get an erection and have kids.
If he fights Golota we are going to see some classic ball beating.

I think Golota is over that phase. I don't know if he can beat VK, i will have to wait and she how he does against Ruiz. he may snap in that fight.
Winter 09-19-2004, 09:34 PM I don't think Toney is best heavyweight. I think only a fan of Toney would say he is best heavyweight.
Dr Cynical 09-19-2004, 09:36 PM I don't think Toney is best heavyweight. I think only a fan of Toney would say he is best heavyweight.
Only someone who buys into the bull**** being said by other morons and can't think for themselves, or likes bald apes would say that Toney is the best heavyweight.

Golota will never be over that phase.
He loves beating on the balls of other boxers.
He just can't keep it together.

Untrue, I give credit where it's due.
I don't think Toney has done a damn thing to have all these idiots' tongues up his ass.
All he has done is run his mouth and stuff his mouth.
If that's what gains a boxer respect in your eyes then I suppose Butterbean is a god to you.
ChrististheAnswer 09-19-2004, 10:45 PM James Toney is a tremendous fighter, but he does have weight issues. However he has gotten down to about 220-225 for the Booker fight. He is also a talker but he brings personality and excitement to the sport. Plus I met him and he was very personable and nice to me.
James Toney is the second most talented HW in the division.

Could someone please tell me what makes him a good fighter?
Cause I just see a overweight boxer who by gluttony, got into the heavyweight division and beat up an old, past his prime cruiserweight.

The man has tremendous defense, quick hands, and he throws great combinations. Now granted he did beat an old Holyfield, he also beat Vassily Jirov in his fight previous to that. Jirov is a great fighter and Toney beat him. Toney went to heavyweight because the money is there and the division is average.
doomeddisciple 09-19-2004, 11:07 PM He's at least SOMETHING to look at in the HW division.
Its so devoid of thrills, skills or anything else "ill" except "Spills" becuase every fight I find myself spilling my beer or bongwater in disgust at the frustrating bollocks that passes for a HW fight these days!
Toney brings spark, some much needed personality - The rest of the division could surely use some of his personality - But in general he at least brings a few questions to the table that are actually COMPELLING in a division that needs some fire breathing to wake it up.
I mean who cares about the possible match ups of Golota Ruiz Klistcko and Brewster? Vitali is the most exciting of those 4, and god damn its a sad day when you measure excitement on a guy who's style was learned from watching Ali do Frankenstein impersonations of George Foreman...
NichtGeflechten 09-19-2004, 11:19 PM I really love James Tubby. I think every bad situation comedy should have a character that resembles him......either that or the orangutan from the Clint Eastwood flicks.
Neuraxis 09-20-2004, 12:30 AM No fighting Booker speaks for itself.
hollister 09-20-2004, 12:40 AM I'll bet Eastwood's orangutan would knock him out.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Jirov have problems with Mesi and lose to Mesi?
Dr Cynical 09-20-2004, 01:09 AM I'll bet Eastwood's orangutan would knock him out.
He could but won't.
Toney's face would scare it away and if it didn't Toney would eventually eat the poor thing.
grayfist 09-20-2004, 02:32 AM It's exciting to see "Lights Out!" having come out of the dark lit up like an ambulatory neon sign! The scowl has not frequented his face that much since 2003 when he was awarded by THE RING two principal awards: BOXER OF THE YEAR and COMEBACK FIGHTER OF THE YEAR-- the first in the magazine's long, long history! Promoter Dan Goosen has been credited for Toney's second coming, but, I'd say the credit goes to James himself. His problem had always been mental; it looks like he's gone past that for good. What he faces now is his physical, aka, weight problems, but if he stays in the right frame of mind, he'll be able to surmount that as well. It's difficult to see how James can miss if he keeps that mental thing going. His defense is a must-see for students of the boxing art and his victims could sign testimonials on how much power he packs. A Roy Jones, at his peak, taught Toney a lesson or two, lessons that James appears to have parlayed to his advantage. He may not be the best Heavy there is out there (it's tough for me to categorically say he is or not at this time), but I would neiter turn the lights off on a Toney fight in the foreseeable future nor bet against him. Byrd vs. Toney? Roy vs. Toney II at Heavy somewhere down the road? Won't those be really, really  ?! Now, that's looking past Booker. Hope Toney isn't.
TheGreat1 09-20-2004, 04:32 AM Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Jirov have problems with Mesi and lose to Mesi?
y you people continue to harp on that fight. mesi is undeafted, and a good fighter. jirov was robbed in that fight, he damn near killed mesi in the ring. how could you use that as ammo against toney. toney put jirov on his ass. something big strong mesi couldn't do

Jirov hit Mesi in the back of the head, didn't he?
Isn't that what you're referring to when you say he nearly killed Mesi?
Well ****.. If that's what you think wins fights and/or makes fighters.
I'll happily go up to Toney's fat ass and punch him in the back of head over and over.
Will you then say I'm a great fighter because I "nearly killed" Toney's fat ass?

In my opinion, Byrd is nothing and should leave boxing.
If it takes Toney to do it, then so be it.
I'd even cheer for Toney if they were to go at it.
Mesi will be a non-issue soon in the sport, he should retire. Thank Jirov for this.

u should always cheer for Toney. you can start Thursday. By the way who is your favorite HW? as you know i like Toney. but i love to watch Brewster fight, he is amazing to watch. I have never seen someone take as much punishment as this guy since Ali took on foreman.

lol I always cheer for Toney in eating contests.
I know no one can beat that mouth and gut combination.
Eh.. I don't really care for the Heavyweight Division.
But, if you really need an answer, I'll just say VK.
The guy has more class than any other HW today.

I know VK is tough, but do you think he can handle Brewster? think about it. that guy is tough as nails. I'm sure he could take VK best shots, and we know that the Refs will not stop his fights, he has earned that.
bigdlb12 09-20-2004, 07:46 PM Toney? you mean "Dark Gable"? That his new nick name, he made it himself, word has it that if he wins his next fight, sometime in March of 05 he will face off vs Vitali K.

doesn't matter, VK quit.

Byrd was being beaten by an injured man.

so who won??? you tell me, who got the W and who got the L?
Neuraxis 09-20-2004, 09:17 PM Are you listening to anything he says? Byrd won because Vitali was feeling like he was ready to pass out from the pain of his torn rotator cuff which he was torn in the 2nd round so he decided to stop the fight. That still doesn't explain how a one armed Vitali could still be beating Byrd 88-83, 88-83, 89-82 at the time of the stoppage.

ghostbear 09-20-2004, 11:25 PM I was a fan of Toney, but lately he has been talking too much noise for my taste. Seeing him get KO'd will be enjoyable. Toney was able to survive Holyfield for 2 rounds. After that all he had to do was wait for him to collapse from exhaustion. Toney has superior skills to Vitali. Vitali's size advantage will prove to be too much however. Toney hasn't proven he has the chin to take a heavyweight punch, and I'm betting when he takes one it hurts him. Vitali will stop Toney.

Toney will not have to take a HW punch, VK would not be able to hit Toney clean. his defense is too good

His gut blocks everything.
That or his mouth sucks in the fists of his opponents.

Dr Cynical 09-21-2004, 03:13 AM so r you telling me that you honestly beleive Toney has NO skills?
No, I believe he has skills.
We all know of his eating and **** talking skills.
I just think he lacks boxing skills.
I'm telling you, he's the black Butterbean.

Ok for 1 min, lets forget Toney puts on weight between fights. How you say that he has no skills after seeing his fights? He showed alot of heart and skill in the Jirov&holyfield&Nunn fight. hasn't lost in about 7years. and has been successful in every weightclass he has been in. where has he shown to be a unclassful fighter?

By fighting old boxers and b & c level boxers and acting like he's the greatest because of it.

so you don't like him because he talks more **** than you?
Dr Cynical 09-21-2004, 03:52 AM so you don't like him because he talks more **** than you?
He hasn't beat anyone that would warrant the **** he talks.
As I said before, he should give up boxing and go into competitive eating.
In that "sport" he'd actually be a champ.

I put it in the bank.
You should do the same otherwise your points will be stolen.
The "thief" system is up and running again.
semjasa 09-21-2004, 09:01 AM Just wanted to remind everyone out there that Toney is still the best HW out there and will take over the Div in the very near future. his skills speak for it self. Hopefully he will get a chance to KO VK soon. THE GREAT ONE HAS SPOKEN
AHAAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAA man good joke dude im still laughing.............
When Toney beats the likes of Danny Williams, Brewster, Tua and such likes I will maybe start to think he is a decent HW.
Simply beating a shot Holyfield does not cut the mustard dude.
ghostbear 09-21-2004, 02:46 PM Toney is best at fighting and slipping punches on the inside. I believe Vitali's size and strength advantage will allow him to not let Toney get inside. From the outside he will have a great advantage and should be able to land some straight hard punches. Toney is starting to get up there in age too. This combined with his weight problems and recent injury won't help either.
GranTorino 09-21-2004, 02:58 PM Toney is a thug with a big mouth that is gonna get his clock cleaned by the first real name he fights. Hell this kid Booker may even pop him to the canvas. I know I would love to see the mumble mouthed gorilla go down. You should get a new favorite boxer. Really.

Holy ****.....you think he lacks boxing skills ?
Damn, you are as boxing-blind as you are redundantly unfunny.
Please...after you tell me what skills he lacks, make me yawn again with another reference to his weight/appetite. Thanks !
Neuraxis 09-22-2004, 02:55 PM I don't think he lacks skills, I just think that he lacks the ability to be able to take a heavyweight punch. Maybe we'll find out when he decides to fight a natural heavyweight.

so if Holyfield doesn't have a HW punch why did he put so many HW on there ass? How did Jirov put Mesi down, the guy can take a punch

good point, but no one can really argue Toneys skill so they can only make jokes about his weight.
Neuraxis 09-23-2004, 05:45 PM Let's examine Toney's three most recent fights including his fight with Booker. Holyfield started off as a light heavyweight, Booker cruiserweight, Jirov cruiserweight. So I guess that means that Toney has yet to fight a natural heavyweight. Now let's move on Holyfield. Who was the last person Holyfield KO'd? Buster Douglas in 1990. Who was the last person Holyfield TKO'd? Michael Moorer in 1997. What year did Holyfield fight Toney? 2003. Face it Holyfield with 38 wins of which 25 are by KO is not a power puncher. Toney does not have a granite chin at heavyweight. Just look at how much Holyfield moves Toney with his soft hook that he throws with 2:43 left in the first round. Jirov is hardly a power puncher just because he was able KD Joe Mesi. By those standards wouldn't Barrett also have to be a power puncher because he was also able to KD Mesi. Barrett is one of the softest if not the softest hitting heavyweight contender. No wonder there are rumors that Toney is looking to fight him in Decemember.

38 wins and 25 ko's is great when you at the Compitition Holyfield has faced. No has ever face as many good fighters as Holyfield other than Ali. so lets not question Holyfields power if you are not going to look at who he fought. He was the 1st guy to KD Bowe, he KO'd tyson. face it the man was great. he was robbed in the last fight with ruiz. Jirov won 29 of his 33 fights by KO. So continue to examine Toney's career, and you will see greatness. thats y he is a 3 time world champ. Just because he makes his fights look so easy doesn't take away from his his level of compitition.

maybe
I would not count him out. He certailny has more skill than anyone, but the thing that might keep him down is just his size
Neuraxis 09-23-2004, 06:47 PM I guess you failing to address my points means that you agree with me. But you are right in saying that Holyfield WAS great.
GranTorino 09-27-2004, 01:48 PM If you know anything about boxing, it's that physique does not make a boxer. You could built like a bodybuilder but if you ain't got the skills or chin, you're going down. Appearance, should never be a consideration. Look at Jirov, he looks like regular guy without his shirt on, but he can sure as **** pummel the fawk out of most any boxers out there. And I think that if he rematched Toney, he would put him down.

Dynamite Kid 11-15-2009, 04:03 PM I wonder if VK could beat Oquendo decisively and avoid getting owned by Sam Peter, oh wait.
