I had my knee swell up like that as result of falling on it while playing football. I went up to recieve a pass and jumped and came down hard on me knee. It balooned up insane like those guys in those pictures. But it is not that damaging, it is just water. My knee was more or less fine by the next day.

that was a very bad hematoma that rahman had, i'm sure it looks much worse than it actually feels, or maybe it dosn't.

I'd bet they calm down quikly with ice.
