View Full Version : IS JULIO CAESAR CHAVEZ the greatest MEXICAN fighter ever? Zab Super Judah 05-29-2005, 10:40 PM http://www.fightreport.net/gifs/chavez_robinson.gif sisforshaq 05-29-2005, 11:02 PM as far as the fans are concered yes, overall for now he is but watch out for Morales/MAB sisforshaq 05-29-2005, 11:04 PM Note on Salvador Sanchez if he didnt get into a car crash and die he would have great and also Finito Lopez was awsome himself but his legend was never as big as Chavez. YoungTurk 05-29-2005, 11:14 PM Salvador Sanchez basically can be considered great I think. Look at all the matches he had by 23. By today's standards, he had already fought a full career. That is one of those rare wrongs with life that I'll never fully be able to get over. Damn, he was on top of the world. Just imagine. Unfortunately, that is all we can do, speculate and imagine. Maybe he'd have been washed up by 25. I doubt that, but who knows right? The man beat Gomez and Nelson then poof, he's gone. Sucks. Chavez really impressed me last night. How does he do it at his age? How can anybody not like JCC? Well, I could understand Meldric Taylor fans being pissed, but it wasn't Chavez's fault on that anyhow. USA4LIFE 05-29-2005, 11:56 PM Yeah sanchez was awsome, too bad for the car crash. JCC right now is considered the best mexican fighter ever, but theirs a whole new generation coming up trying to prove what they are made of. He will deff be a hall of famer, no doubt about that. sisforshaq 05-30-2005, 12:09 AM Chavez really impressed me last night. How does he do it at his age? How can anybody not like JCC? Well, I could understand Meldric Taylor fans being pissed, but it wasn't Chavez's fault on that anyhow. Did you see what he was fighting againest?? sisforshaq 05-30-2005, 12:10 AM (not taking away from his overall greatness) YoungTurk 05-30-2005, 01:09 AM I do not care who Chavez was fighting against. He went 10 strong rounds and looked like an above average fighter. I am not saying he would beat top guys, but I think he could give some of them a very good fight still. Did you watch Roberto Duran and Hector Camacho, either guy, fighting fairly recently? Chavez is definitely better. Especially better than Duran. Duran was horrible the last few years he fought. At least Camacho still had something in the tank. Actually I won't be surprised if Chavez and Camacho fight again. I'd probably pick Camacho to jab and run on the outside for the whole fight. Camacho has definitely lost some speed, but could probably stay away enough for one fight if he really got up for it. The Golden Boy 05-30-2005, 01:36 AM Finito Lopez was awsome himself but his legend was never as big as Chavez. His legend was never as big as Chavez because he wasn't. If Ricardo Lopez wasn't minimum weight he would be considered one of the grestest fighters ever regardless of nationality. He never lost an amateur of professional fight. YoungTurk 05-30-2005, 02:00 AM Wow I did not realize he never lost as an amateur. I knew of him but hardly ever could see him fight. Maybe three times. I would love to get his career collection. Tha Greatest 05-30-2005, 02:07 AM Is Julio Cesar Chavez the greatest mexican fighter ever? Easy answer, the answer is no, Cosme Rivera is:D (sarcasm) xKillingJokex 05-30-2005, 02:55 AM to me..its Salvador Sanchez..no matter his age..his short career speaks for itself..he beat Danny Lopez(2x), Juan LaPorte, Wilfredo Gomez, Asumah Nelson, and some good ones like..Pat Cowdell and Reuben Castillo. And on a fantasy fight note..I think Sanchez would of beaten Alexis Arguello..before Sanchez's untimely death..supposedly there was a fight agreed upon between those two..what a fight that would of been onetwopunch 05-30-2005, 03:07 AM He is the best of this Era, but Sanchez I think was better he fought much better opposition. |
