Drugs. controversial, and they're everywhere

in my high school i hear kids talking about it every freakin day. And i smell the weed everywhere.

i never do drugs, and will never do them...getting high is just not my idea of fun

i want to know what you guys think about drugs, and if you guys think boxing is a good alternative to drugs and the gang life

Wow man I thought you were gay! Lmao jk bro but even though we dont agree on much on these forums im sure thats one common ground we both have! But to the thread starter, yeah boxing is a great alternative, but its your friends that will have the most influence... If your hanging out with people who smoke weed/ do drugs, then youll probably find yourself doing them one day too, I was always the kid sayin ill never try **** but my friends did and I did, I dont anymore, but thats because my friends dont either... I smoke a little weed once in a while that **** aint bad but to be honest dont do it just because it's an advantage to your breathing if you stay smoke free... Im not saying ditch your boys, but choose who you hang with wisely, because they will influence you. If you got any friends that box who dont do drugs either thats the guy you wanna be hangin with all the time

It's very important for a kid to be surrounded by the right enviroment as he's growin up, but ofc in most cases that's a bit far fetched since there are a lot of people out there. So yeah, boxing is a great way for a kid (teen) to have a better outlook on life, I'd say it's a bit better than team sports.

But as said somewhere above in the thread it's best for the kid to have a sense of balance from a young age . I know a lot of dudes that in their youth were performance driven and most of them burned out and took the low road later on in life. Best to have that middle ground, where the kid can better himself and have a good idea on what's right and what's wrong but also have some fun from time to time so later he wont feel he missed out.

On a serious note though i definatley think it's a really good alternative for the youth than living a gang life or wasting their lifes taking drugs. Sport teaches you great things, and in a great way eg. discipline

Talking from personal experience i lived in a bad neighborhood and everyone around me was taking drugs and gettin in trouble everyday. Thats the ghetto life. But i got signed to pro football team at a young age so i never took drugs, smoked, drank alcohol the whole time. Football gave me discipline even me parents cant teach me. Boxing would be an even better way for the youts to divert their positive energy towards as well as most importantly teaching them discipline cos most black kids around here have no dad around so there lawless. I never turned pro but sport taught me more about myself and life then school ever did. True now i bun a lickle weed but i only started when i gave up football at 21. I never drink or smoke cigarettes bkoz i never did when i was young so i can live without it.

MY ADVICE TO THE YOUTH IS GET YOURSELF IN A F'KIN BOXING GYM AND BECOME A REAL MAN!! LIFE IS SHORT ON THESE STREETS, TRUST ME.

Dude, are you on drugs? ***** is better than boxing in many ways.

That said, getting back to the topic. I do agree that it is the best alternative to drugs and street gang, that's what a lot of trainers in many gyms try to do with boxing, and many boxers would say something a long the lines of "If it wasn't for boxing, I would be dead or in jail now."

Ironic how something so positive can come out of something that is perceived by many to be barbaric.

haha dude im the same way, practicly all of my friends smoke weed and more than a quarter of them do some heavy **** like acid and blow but ive never done any of that ****. I'll drink once every like 4 months unless I have a fight coming up.

I seen on the first page someone made a comment that if your friends do drugs then you will most likely to becuase of influence, it is a very true statement however its not always the case. I have enough self control to say no and it has stayed that way. My friends respect me for it and i always get mad props for not blazing and persueing my dream in boxing.

Boxing is agreat alternative to gang life and if you choose to follow it with passion it well take you a long way.
