Righthandbanger 03-24-2010, 08:47 AM do you train at a boxing gym atm?
maverickuk2 03-24-2010, 11:23 AM nice home gym. but your hands drop when your throwing punches, noticable when throwing combos. it happens to me alot after a long training session aswell. just imo.
YoungJab 03-24-2010, 11:52 AM get ur self to a gym, u suck

hateinyaeyes32 03-24-2010, 11:59 AM do you train at a boxing gym atm?
Ive been going a few times a week for the past month or so, and I used to learn/spar with my uncle and his kids cuz he had a gym, but ive never fought or anything in the ams yet, I am planning too start going daily within the next few months but atm I am trying to put on more muscle so I'll have to lose less fat when its time to cut, and so I can have more power... so Ive just been hitting the weights real hard, hitting the heavybag at home, and sparring with my buddies that are boxers, and getting my ass kicked, but getting better everytime...

Yeah I know, I try not to do that but like you said that **** just happens when training for a long while... Definitely one of many things I need to work on, and I appreciate the input! One question though, how was my power lookin? Ive been trying to improve it alot so I wanna know what you think... It's a 100 lb. bag by the way.
And yeah the home gym is great I dont know what id do without it, got weights, bench, barbell, e-z bar, heavybag, been meaning to put up the speedbag for a while now im gonna do that soon lol.

Hey I never claimed to be a pro lol and Im going to get myself to a gym but I dont think I suck, I know im not very good, but I spar with dudes who box for real and I hang in there with them even if im getting my ass kicked... I see youre from Detroit like me, what gym do you train at dog?
And btw I'll take that respect as a compliment since 90 percent of the *****s on here are all talk and wouldnt post **** up.. I wanna be better yeah but honestly respect is what im all about, without respect talent means nothing
maverickuk2 03-24-2010, 12:09 PM you need to work on your head movement before and after punching, and more leverage on power punched aka- use your body aswell like mike tyson did. and return your hands to your gaurd quicker.

I usually am alright about keepin the hands up... But I do need to work on proper footwork and that's why im having trouble putting leverage into my hooks and power punches.. I used to be alright with that but a few years of not practicing any fundamentals and smoking alot of grass/drinking alot of alcohol has set me back, like I need to learn the basics of footwork and pivoting and even jab all over again... Once I can start hitting a gym regularly in the next few months itll come back to me
alexbr 03-24-2010, 01:40 PM Although I'm light years from being anywhere near good in boxing, I can give you the same advice I got from my coach last week :)
Your punches sometimes "stick" to the bag. Try going back to the guard immediatly after impact.
And keep up the good work man, ignore all the trash talking.
i3raintwo 03-24-2010, 03:00 PM Why do people insist on putting put videos of themselves but also make comments of excuse(s)? Not just you but I've seen many on here who are bad and good.
I totally understand if you want some constructive criticism so you can leave the excuses at the door. Even when you're tired as hell you know you are doing well when your technique is still there.
At our gym we run and do body weight workouts before we hit the mitts and bag to test ourselves like going into the later rounds.
All I have to say is keep it up because its better then nothing. Repetition bud!

Yeah I dont listen to the haters bro, waste of time, and thanks bro! Yeah I know the punches need to be snappy, I need to figure out how to pivot into them properly like be taught by one of the trainers at the gym i go to sometimes, because when i learned before I didnt really learn it if you know what I mean, I was like 17 lol.. So my footwork isnt pretty lol.. I appreciate the positive feedback though dude! Good advice!

Call em excuses if you want lol they arent just excuses cuz I lifted weights for 2 hours and hit the bag four rounds before that, just made the video cuz i was bored.
But, you are right, i know my technique is off, and im trying to improve it, so I appreciate your advice man! And yeah man I train everyday pretty much at home and lift weights at a gym, go to a boxing gym once in a while to hit the speedbags, double end, heavybags, ect. But I havent started learnin much with a trainer yet cuz I only go a few times a week for the past couple months, I learned basics before that when I was a teenager but nothin really stuck with me after i stopped training. Im about to start paying monthly though so I can go everyday because it's only $40 and some pretty solid trainers who were pro and am.. They will help me, and im really ready to start going but im tryin to save up some money right now for things that i need (pay off tickets, late cell phone bills, ect.) and i just got a job a month ago but soon ill have that **** paid off and be able to spend the 40 dollars a month comfortably... Im like pumped for it actually, I know its tough work but I love it
i3raintwo 03-24-2010, 05:56 PM Hey man I hear you on the issues of bills. I've been kept out of the gym before because of bills. Just make sure you get back in when you can though.
Its far more beneficial in my opinion to spend $40 for a month at the gym and sacrifice eating out 4 times at $10 each in a month.
Rich.r 03-24-2010, 09:24 PM Stop tapping your ****ing gloves after you throw a punch.
thatjamaicanguy 03-24-2010, 11:12 PM agreed.
don't tap your gloves, that's a dangerous habit
and it's also a sign that your focus is wandering
try throwing imaginary punches into the bag, don't extend your arms, just practice the pivoting of the hips, and practice the footwork
:banana::banana:
TheTruthIs 03-24-2010, 11:39 PM bend your knees more. put your hands up to your cheeks on either side and feel loose with your hands, knees, but in guard. throw and get back to guard quick. jab (back to guard), jab (back to guard), cross (back to guard). 1,1,2. 1,1,2. 1,2,3, etc but always keep your guard up. these are just simple fundamentals...and with bent knees you should be allowing for more hip movement. you need to really feel the rotation in your hips by the time the cross comes around...and especially leading into a left hook to finish it off. consider always finishing with a left hook on combos greater then 3 punches. this for a few good reasons. 1 it helps you create distance to not get countered easily. 2. it creates a natural block with less target area for your opponent.
if the reason you keep dropping your hands is because you are tired...then dont hit the bag then. for all you are doing is developing bad habits that will stick.
supRa 03-24-2010, 11:59 PM stop snapin your gloves 2gether its corny.

Yeah I know what youre sayin bro, well I dont really eat out much maybe a couple times a month if that, I cook for myself out eat whatever my mother cooked for dinner lol... But yeah man eating out does get expensive as hell.. and yes man im going to get back in there asap because i need this lol..
agreed.

Yeah I know man I shouldnt have been tappin the gloves thats probably why my guard was down half of the time, I didnt realize I was doing that in the video til anyone said anything to be honest.
Im going to do what you said though or atleast try and work on it somewhat before I can head back into thew gym.

I appreciate all the advice man I am going to try all of that out that you told me it sounds like really good advice and makes sense to me..
And I usually always hit the bag for 6rounds after I lift weight everyday for 1 or 1 & 1/2 hours, and I can last, but that day I lifted for longer than i usually do probably like 2 & 1/2 hours, and when i hit the bag after it was only 4 rounds and that wouldve been 5 but i was just so spent.. I will take everything you said and try and use it though man thank you for the positive input

My bad supra i was zoned out man i didnt even realize i was doin it... what you up to brother you have any fights at all lately?
Btw thats a tight sig picture you got I was about to put the same one up my self last night actually lol but I chose this one instead

PhaNToM BRAWL3R 04-13-2010, 07:07 PM OK then honestly not very good tekkers , nd wots this bout fatigue ? lol man up wen ur better yu can say tht. its gud tht ur into it though :). my advice is join a gym , 1st week strength training (knockout power) 2nd week explosive (speed kills) in between 3 times a week go to a boxing class , this shud improve tekkers nd keep your cardio up aswell. but the main thing is eating right nd plenty of sleep, good luck.
F l i c k e r 04-13-2010, 07:14 PM lol, people be mad criticizing on here when alot don't even box themselves.
I like the clapping of the gloves. It's stylish. I don't see much wrong with your stuff. I can see your tired and your arms started falling but at the same time you quickly fixed your technique. So, there isn't really anything for me to say to fix.
I wish I had a video camera though.
DR.ORGYY 04-13-2010, 07:16 PM hit like a prime mike tyson lol...........

tip number 1, moving the bag proves nothing for power. The sound is a better idea, or perhaps a dent in the bag. If you want to move the bag or make it swings, simply push punch it.
One more round 04-14-2010, 12:25 AM Stop tapping your ****ing gloves after you throw a punch.
Agreed, A good opponent usually takes advantage of that.
This one fight, between a very good kid who was still a junior, and a decent senior, was a close fight that ended up with a 10:8 score to the junior. Why? Because the senior had a habit of dropping his hands to adjust his trunks after exchanges or combos. The kid took advantage of it early on and posted 2 easy points. I think I recall the senior stopped doing it and the fight was even from then on, but those two mistakes the senior made in rd 1, leaving him down by two, cost him the fight in the end.
