WTF? I'm watching the McLaughlin Group on PBS right now and there are 4 stupid women talking about banning boxing because of head, spine, and brain injuries occuring from the sport. They point out the latest casualty being that amateur female boxer that died recently. And they aren't just talking about women either, but men as well!

They said there's no place for this "barbaric sport" in society and they have no idea why "sick people" like to go watch the sport. I say put these women in a ring and have them get KTFO! I can't believe a pretty widely viewed news program like this is talking about banning boxing. It'll never happen.

people like that are extremists, they are stupid and never get what they want. imo they do it for the attention and try to do there part in making the world better but there are far worse things than boxing to focus on. they could be spending there time trying to feed children or teaching people how to read but instead they feel boxing is the problem

I never looked at boxing as barberic and you know what? These people obviously have no understanding of the sport because theres alot more to boxing than two guys beating each other up. :boxing: Long live boxing, these people are rediculous...

Those curmudgeons are political analysts not sporting commentators so what they say means squat. I won't be losing sleep knowing they favour boxings banishment.

Thats so true, i've never really been hurt boxing, all i've ever had is cuts, bruises and broken hand. I've done worst playing Soccer and Basketball.

Some people are so ****ing dumb, boxing has taken so many people off the street and teaches valuable life lessons like respect.

Boxing saves more lives that it takes.

theres plenty of brain injuries, spine injuries, and deaths in football too.its just big news when it happens in boxing because its 1v1 combat, makes it look more brutal(especially to a group of feminist right after a woman dies in the ring)

How silly! If all the safety regulations, etc. are followed to the letter than the sport is quite safe all things considered. And as pointed out, the sport has saved many people from a life of crime, prison and death. How rediculous..only people that dont understand the sport say crap like that!

I haven't fought professionally and I personally would not advise it to anybody. I agree with Chris Eubank in that respect. But some of us are born to fight, born to be winners, and have boxing flowing through our vains... so for us boxing nuts I'm sure that every headache, cut, fracture, bruise, stitch etc is well well worth it because nothing can beat the feeling of winning and the enjoyment of boxing.

I wish I did turn pro, and I was going to before I got put inside. I am absolutely distraught to this day, I was willing to risk my life to get hold of championship belts and fulfill my dreams - and that would of been MY choice.

For those looking to get into boxing or those whose hearts are not fully in boxing, I would advise them not to turn pro though - because if they need advise wether to one day turn pro or not then they are not made for boxing, because you won't need any advise if you are made for boxing, you will go straight ahead and do it.

Here's a nice little quote from Eubank:
"If I was to advertise boxing to people, I would tell them that it forms you into the best shape ever and is the best of confidence builders. I would inform that there are very, very few injuries compared to other sports when you have headgear to protect your heads, facesaver cages to protect your nose, mouthguards to protect your teeth, handwraps to protect your hands, and boxing gloves to protect eachother. It is a sport that develops your hands and feet. What it can do is keep you off the streets, give you a nice hobby, allow you to perform an art in the gymnasium and bring the competitive edge out of you in the amateur tournaments. But there is only pain involved in professional boxing and I wouldn't advise that to anyone."

As long as men roam this earth, boxing will remain. It is the only sport in my opinion that truly demonstrates the fighting heart of man. As for women's boxing i don't care. I don't care for it but i wouldn't be self righteous enough to attempt to rob another person of their livelihood. Imagine if the world had never seen the skills of Ali? Boxing has provided some of the greatest sports personalities in history. Fighting is what mankind is all about at the end of the day. To deny it is to deny an inegral part of all of us. Man, don't you just love boxing? what other sport provides such GENUINE excitement? In football, the defining moment is a ball going through posts. In boxing, a man gets punched to the floor. Pride and livelihood is at stake. The stakes are higher in no other sport. God Bless Boxing.

It's only common sense that more people die from being shot than being punched, the ammount of kids that boxing has taken from the streets and given a purpose to is unreal.

IMO women boxing SHOULD be banned. It just doesn't seem natural.

When u watch men compete in the sweet science it can be so graceful, have so much finess, and be so technical that it can be anywhere from boring to extremely exciting to watch.

In women boxing, one usually clobbers the **** out of the other. I mean it can be fun to watch in all, but I think more women are gonna continue to suffer more injuries and have a higher chance of death because their skills are usually pretty weak.

If they're worried about people being injured and what not..ban driving automobiles for gods sake..then..im sure more people get injured and die from that..then boxing
