Re: Vera-Jones

I'm confused. I see up-kicks all the time. Why was that particular up-kick illegal ??

Not if the other guy is considered to be "down"

One knee on the ground = down

Its a stupid rule anyway. Vera landed that kick solid and we see how much damage it did compared to Jones elbow.

I'd rather get rid of elbows and allow kicks to downed opponents...

The Ring is classier, but nah, the cage is aight with me, Elbows tend to cut fighters more often and I hate fights that get stopped on cuts and head kicks to downed opponents neutralizes wrestling a little more......

The up-kick Vera landed, I think should be legal. He was on his back, and how many fighters would even be able to land an up-kick from that position. Jones was pretty close to him. Watch it again.

Upkicks like the one Fitch landed on Alves are perfectly legal.

I thought the second upkick that Vera went for was legal as it looked like Jones had both knees off the floor, but the first one was illegal no doubt. Legalising upkicks would arguably make it more exciting and could encourage people to stand a bit more rather then lay n pray.
