oldgringo 05-28-2005, 07:45 PM What the ****? If we are talking about competitors then, as far as the NBA goes, you have to include Kevin Garnett and Ben Wallace. Garnett especially gives everything he has EVERY game...McGrady is a joke.
Manny_P 05-28-2005, 07:46 PM McGrady is a ball hog. You stoopid?!
...McGrady is a joke.
1.) An offensive machine who has accounted for the most scoring over the past 5 years next to Allen Iverson.
2.) Can hit any clutch 3 point shot and is the best go to guy in any situation
3.) Is underrated as far as his defensive skills go.
I think I might have titled this thread wrong. I meant to say "the best" in their sport.

When hes trying...
KG gives you EVERY statistical category EVERY game, shoots a high percentage, 20, 10, 5 every game, around 100 steals and blocks a year. Leaves it all out on the floor and carries the sad Timberwolves as far as he can every year in the TOUGH western conference. Oh yeah, he doesn't have the pleasure of a Yao Ming either.

KG is good but Tim Duncan is better i mean KG is a good player
TD is a good teamate

True.
Mcgrady had ZERO luxuries when he was playing with the Magic. They were one of the worst teams in the leauge, but he carried them on his shoulders. He led the leauge in scoring...and relentlessly attacked the basket in crunch time in order to secure them at least a spot in the playoffs. I think I screwed up in titling this thread like I mentioned....because you have a point on KG, Wallace, and even Duncan having a better work ethic.
oldgringo 05-28-2005, 08:00 PM KG is good but Tim Duncan is better i mean KG is a good player

KG is the consumate teammate. Duncan has the luxury of playing on exceptional teams with exceptional coaches. Put Duncan on the T-Wolves and they go nowhere either.

McGrady is very good. I loved him when he was defensive minded and played for the Raptors but hes just rubbed me the wrong way in the last few years. I will give it to him though he is an excellent player.
From a pure hitting and Fielding standpoint: Ichiro Suzuki is the best player I have ever seen play baseball. Im not kidding. He is unmatched when it comes to controlling pitchers and pitches, is as good or better a clutch hitter than anyone, and is so underrated as far as his fielding goes. Most people only know him as that Japanese guy who plays centerfield for the Mariners. Put him on any team, and its a win win situation for the team and fans.
lets also not forget. He has the strongest Arm in the Major Leauges as far as an outfielder goes.

we can make a good argument that Vlad's arm is way way better
we can make a good argument that Vlad's arm is way way better
You have a good point, but it is questionable. Ichiro throws strikes to homeplate. Guererro is a right fielder and has to put more into his throws.
Lets move Ichiro to right field and see what happens. I think he will turn some heads.
The Fix 05-28-2005, 08:49 PM as far as rb's are concerned i wouldnt take anyone over him

oldgringo 05-28-2005, 09:07 PM I'd take Priest Holmes over LT when he's healthy...not for long though. Tomlinson is a monster.
I agree about Guerrero. I'd say that Bobby Abreu is another guy who does everything and is a great fielder.
Shaq is no question.
Face is great but top 5 dead or alive is VERY bold.
Rakim
Big Daddy Kane
These two ^^ are untouched at the top.
LL
Chuck D
Big
Pac
Nas
AZ
Pharoahe
Common
KRS-One
I have all of those guys before Mr. Brad. I'm sure I'm leaving out a few other guys too. I didn't even include KMD or Grandmaster Caz because I have never really SERIOUSLY listened to their music.
oldgringo 05-28-2005, 09:09 PM Nobody will ever convince me that theres a better baseball player than Willie Mays either. No better combination of fielding and hitting ever for my money...
Miguel Tejada is another one of those guys who would be dangerously close to saying is the best fielder and even Player in the big leauges. Im sticking with the ichiro.

Right on the Money about that. Hank AAron is close though......his slugging was a thing in itself. And fielding quite underrated.
Mays base running was impecable as well as his hitting and fielding so basically that makes him the best baseball player of all time in my opinion. I never saw him other than old espn replays or what I read though. I wish I would have seen him actually play the game. Would have been interesting to say the least.

Yeah Tejada is a beast too. He's definitely the best SS right now. I like Jeter more but Tejada is unreal.
If I had the Luxury of picking my own baseball team to play against any other, I think it would consist of:
RF- Sheff
CF- Ichiro
LF- Sammy (Because I would force him to play left field)
1B- Giambi
2B- Sorreano
SS- Tejada
3B- A- Rod
C- Piazza
P- Schilling
Rocket and Willis would be forced to close the show on the mound.
DH could include Chipper, Anderson, or Pujols.
And its no wonder why I hate the Yankees with a passion for so long now.

Not too many backs can do what this guy can do on the field.

No they could not. And its a damn shame he retired. It did not sit well with me to say the least. He had the tools to become the greatest back of all time. Jim Brown said: Ricky ran with more speed than he did, and was as ferocious when it came to the hitting the line.
Pretty damn good for a budsmoker. Where did that instinct come from? Its wierd.

and i think he is the worst Rb in history
for quitting on his team the way he did....
jack_the_rippuh 05-28-2005, 10:14 PM He's playing this year.
He's going to be suspended for the first four games, but he's playing.

He's going back to the 'Phins..
His agent said he's definately going to be in training camp.

in terms of record sales, longevity, impact, classic albums, lyrics, and respect aint too many ahead of the great mr.scarface
out of the guys you listed i could see having rakim, big daddy kane, krs-one and nas ahead of scarface but the others album for album aint close to scarface.

Doe or Die
S.O.S.A.
Pieces of a Man
9 Lives
Aziatic
Final Call
I've already said my peace about AZ. Doe or Die is about as good as they come. AZ is so underrated its sickening.
I say Pharoahe Monch just because he's one of the best emcees lyrically thats ever done it. Internal Affairs was a great CD and his early work in Organized Konfusion was classic. That CD was unreal...
I say Common because he put out arguably the greatest album of all-time in Resurrection with arguably the greatest hip-hop song of all-time in I Used to Love H.E.R. He's one of the most conceptual and soulful emcees in the game too.
Resurrection
Like Water for Chocolate
Can I Borrow a Dollar
One Day It'll All Make Sense
BE
All classic or near-classic albums.

last of a dying breed
my homies

the fix
the diary
mr.scarface is back
the world is yours
grip it on that other level- geto boys
we cant be stopped- geto boys
Az's doe or die was a great album but its arguably his only classic. i like his musci but honestly isnt a better rapper than scarface. az spends too much time in nas's shadow
Pharoahe Monch hasnt been heard from in a while and doesnt have the impact or longevity or catolog to be placed ahead of scarface.
i cant really compare common to scarface, one is one of the greatest gangster rappers of all time the other a cerebral hip-hop artist....its really two different genres
besides name another artist who has three official 5 mic albums
solo or group
*crickets*
oldgringo 05-29-2005, 03:28 PM the source is wack.
face has 2 solo classics imo...diary and loadb. i liked balls and my word more than untouchable.
basically i just like AZ a lot and am tired of him flying under the radar all of the time. ho happy jackie is one of the best songs ive ever heard. it showcases az perfectly...it also doesnt hurt that its a pete rock track.
pharoah has been around for just about as long as face, he just hasn't done as many albums for some unknown reason.
oldgringo 05-29-2005, 03:43 PM Chuck D is/was also better than Face. He's one of the most influential people in hip-hop ever.
