I got the idea from the great thread of rating MAB, Morales, JMM Pac and Hamed, So i thought out all the welters we have seen recently rank this 5.

Oscar De La Hoya
"Sugar" Shane Mosley
Zab Judah
Felix Trinidad
Antonio Margarito

Just some classic ones and i put Margarito to see what everyone thinks of him.

I dont know about those rankings in the welterweight division. If you want to rank the fighters themselves...then I have the list identical to yours.

All those guys are welterweights with the exception of Trinidad. And Trinidad was of course originally a welterweight and that was his natural weight. He beat Oscar De La Hoya via controversial descision at welterweight and Mosely beat De La Hoya twice at welterweight.

So I think as far as welterweights go De La Hoya,Trinidad and Mosely are even, but Trinidad has the most quality wins at welter despite his recent shorfallings in the middlweight. I might rank Trinidad the highest.

Zab Judah and Antonio Margarito are also equal to me but are below the first 3.

My list of welterweights currently in top 5 fashion might be:

1. Judah
2. Margarito
3. Mosley
4. Spinks
5. Bojado

And then all the Urkal's and Riveras and whatnot.

I agree with that except for the placement of Spinks. I think Spinks is officially at Superwelterweight now.

That is ridiculous to rate Zab Judah as all time greater than Felix Trinidad. Did Zab Judah beat Ricardo Mayorga by total destruction, did beat Cherifi by TKO 4,
did he beat William Joppy by TKO 5
did he beat Vargas by TKO 12
did he Thiam by TKO 3
did he beat David Reid by UD 12
did he beat Oscar De La Hoya by MD
did he beat Hugo Peneda in 1999 by KO 4
did he beat Pernell Whitaker by UD 12
did he beat OBA Carr by TKO 8
did he beat Luis Ramon Campos by TKO 4
did he beat Hector Camacho by UD 12
did he beat Maurice Blocker in 1993 by KO 2

No but Trinidad did. Trinidad is easily one of the best Welterweights of all time. Judah is not anywhere near one of hte best Welterweights of all time. Trinidad is just not the fighter now he used to be. Trinidad is better Welterweight all time than De La Hoya or Mosely and way way way way above Judah.

And Trinidad obviously when he was in prime could beat slick boxers. As you see he holds wins over Pernell Whitaker, Hector Camacho, David Reid, Oscar De La Hoya. He just is not the fighter he used to be. Trinidad was undefeated as Welterweight.

Trinidad is not a welterweight unless your talking about him historically. He has not fought at Welterweight since 1999 so he does not really even belong on the list unless your talking about boxing history. Why are you ranking a guy who has not fought at welter since 1999 in the same list as currently active Welterweights.

The Camacho, DeLaHoya, and Sweat Pea fights shouldnt count cuz they were old as **** and DLH was robbed...

He wasnt undefeated as a welterweight he got ****in whooped by DLH **** man...

Trinidad would get owned by hearns duran leonard robinson basilio etc.

Yeah he probably would lose to those guys, and there is no shame in that, he is still the best welterweigh tof the 90's.

For what. What makes De La Hoya the greatest. For barely getting past Quartey? For loosing to Trinidad. For loosing twice to Mosely. Is that what makes him the best?

not twice

You noted De La Hoya has not been at Welterweight in a while but he is indeed returning to that weight class so it is relevant to rate him. However Trinidad has not fought as a Welterweight since 1999and he is Retired. And Zab Judah will never be 1/6 of the fighter Trinidad was at Welterweight in any fascination. Trinidad never defeated at Welterweight, 17 title defences.

Zab Judah already defeated by Cory Spinks.

I realize now...that you merely take the opposition party because you get a kick out of it. I am having second thoughts as to you even watching DLH/Trinidad or DLH/Mosley 2. Because if you did...common sense would tell you the two fights were robberies.

DLH/Mosley 2 was one of the biggest robberies in the history of the sport. The fight was a fix.

Why do think I am bias just because I have different opinion than you. I just think prime Trinidad is better than prime De La Hoya and has more accomplishments. And I have given reasons for that. I think they are pretty close but Trinidad just edges him out by a hair.

Both of them are stratospheres above Judah or Margarito.

Quartey
Chavez
Gonzales
Gatti
Leija
Paez
Molina
Ruelas
Hernandez
Rivera
Camacho

and the god damn list goes on for one of the best fighters in the history of the welterweight division. I think he is five times the fighter Trinidad is personally.

Trinidad was a better Welter than DLH. The DLH/Trinidad fight was close I dont think anyone won I saw it as a draw, DLH addmited it himself he said that if he were to take any risk and fight in the later rounds he thinks he would of gotten hurt or Ko'ed because he felt Tito to strong in the later rounds. DLH/Whitacker was a robbery, no one seems to talk about that fight and Whitacker droped DLH it was quick but it counted as a knock down. Quarty/DLH was even but yes DLH pulled it out at the end that was a great fight. Tito is better that DLH and 147 and 154. DLH was awesome at 135, hands down they are both great fighter I just wish there would of been a rematch with them at 147 then another fight at 154.
DLH has the speed, boxing skills over Tito but Tito has heart, power and stamina over DLH
