for years roy has been able to get by on technical flaws, thanks to his extreme athletic talents... his speed and quick reflexes, more than made up for keeping for hands low, not using his jab, backing straight up, laying on the ropes, etc....

but now that he's lost a step ot two, he's getting more often than ever and by harder punches.... so the technical flaws are even more glaring now... against johnson in 9 rounds, jones only landed about 6 jabs and only threw about 30... that might be OK for a slugger, but not for a boxer like RJ... When he got KO'd, his left hand was by his knee and he was backing straight up.... a few years ago, RJ would have probably been able to elude it, but not today....

i dont like RJ... for years he fought guys like, clinton woods, richard hall, telesco, kelly, frazier, fireman, police officers, garbage men, etc.... his announcing is annoying, his ego is annoying and the way he managed his career fighting bums was also annoying... but i will give him credit for being P4P the best fighter for a long period of time and for being extremely talented... but i'm also glad to see him get KTFO again....

Roy is done as a fighter because he is mentally weak and can't fight up from the bottom...he is a front running has-been who has no confidence in himself and is addicted to a role playing game that he was very successful at exploiting. He'll always be Roid Jones Jr. the greatest chickenhawkish mediocre boxing showman that ever was....

thanks, jabs..... another point i forgot was RJ's punch output... a friend asked me why roy wasn't being more agressive, punching more, especially since he was losing the fight... roy's never thrown alot of punches, he always been highly accurate with the moderate amount of punches he did throw... part of his safety first approach, i suppose.. and roy for the most part, likes to pot shot his opponents with one punch at a time also... he doesnt put alot of punches together, except for the double and triple left hooks.... johnson didnt give RJ much chance, putting roy on the defensive, and being in his chest most of the fight....

Roy is done because time caught up with him.Either that or he is damaged goods from the Tarver left hook still.I think it's the latter.

when he moved up to heavyweight and fought John Ruiz he looked marvelous. once he lost that 25 pounds to fight tarver it took a toll on his ability. the first tarver fight he was dry when he entered the ring. he also was winded. since then he never was the same. he should have stayed a heavyweight and fought chris byrd. he also doesn't have enough energy at 175 to jab. as a heavyweight he used the jab somewhat more. if he jabs he's unstoppable. he also needs to use his legs. if he can't take a punch flush he can't rope a dope anyone. jab, circle, and double up on the right and hook only when you circle away. in order for him to do that he has to have a respectable jab up and down.thats what saved him in the first tarver fight was the jab to the body. thats all he has to do if he fights again.

Roy Jones is done as a fighter because most fighters are done at 35. You begin deteriorating rapidly.

Yeah hes done. He got smashed by Aussie fighter Danny Green in the first round... that alone should be his queue to retire, hes got nothing else to prove in boxing.
