Guess they're making sure at least one Chavez gets a 'W' at the farewell fight.

His opponent's last fight was against Jason Smith, who Chavez Jr. TKO'd on the Morales-Hernandez undercard. When he fought Smith, Smith had 3 pro fights. He now has 8. Chavez's opponent has fought three times since 11-26-2002, when he fought a guy who was 6-50-1. Since then, his opponents are 10-6-1.

This is a PPV; they could have at least scheduled him against a full-time boxer.

I dont blame him for fighting bums..he dont really got amateur experience and he's very young and needs to develop first

I like seeing four fights on a PPV; it pisses me off when we only get 3. With Chavez Jr. on the card it's like 3 1/2.

chavez jr. is young no need to have him fight the elite fighters of the division. IMO, they are doing a great job cherry picking his fighters. let him get some experience and then WATCH OUT!!!!!!

Yeah but First off ,this ppv is a sham really,ChavezSr is way past his retirement age,not to mention his prime,as for chavez jr,Its expected, kids like 19,had a weak amateur career,so basicaly he's getting is amateur career under his belt in his early pro years.Mind you, they could just put chavez sr on there and still make it ppv, chavez jr being on there is just an extra smidget,NOBODY should order this fight,I liked chavez too,but damn, how many times can a fighter say "adios" (wait wha?? i can still make some monies?..you'll still buy my ppv? hmmmm.....)

Chavez jr. has NO amateur experience I believe and is still relatively young.

The thing is Julio had like 40 fights before he even became a name in the U.S. I believe they are molding his fathers career around him, it is great that he is getting exposure now unlike his father and should do him well especially if he has potential.

If he is anything like his father when he reaches his prime he will be the sports next superstar, lets just hope the apple has fell VERY close to the tree.

You didn't read what I wrote.

Chavez's OPPONENT'S Last opponent was Jason Smith

I didn't name his opponent; not that it matters, but it's Adam Wynalt.

Wynalt's last fight was in Jan '04 vs. Jason Smith.

So much for being owned...

That's not true either. Chavez last fought Travis Hartman on 4-22, nearly a month after the Maraldo fight.

So much for being owned twice.

Chavez Jr. has shown me nothing that impresses me thus far. I am sure there are alot of fighters that would look good if you threw them in with the very dregs of the sport. Wake me when this kid decides he wants to fight anybody who can walk and chew gum at the same time... It is sad that is dad at 97 years old is still fighting better quality opponents then his son.

Obviously this card shouldnt be PPV. But as far as Chavez' jr career is concerned. He is young and had no amateur career, they are basically just keeping him exposed, while he does his real work in camp sparring.

Gotta give him 2 more years or so, he is young, and short of experience. It would be crazy to start burning him out now.

I can understand that, I always think it is a good idea to put guys in with people they are supposed to beat early in their careers. But by the time you are 20-0 or so, regardless of how old you are, it is time to fight guys who are not like 1-318. I mean, how much skill is Chavez Jr. really picking up fighting these bums? I would say very little when they are all getting KO'ed in five rounds or less, he could hit a heavybag for fifteen minutes if that is what he needed. And in the long run this is not doing him any good- sooner or later he is going to be in there with a game fighter who can take him ten competitive rounds and he will not be able to do it because he will be thirty fights into his career and have gone the distance two or three times. And don't compare Chavez Jr. to Vargas- El Feroz has more talent then Chavez does, he seems a respectable fighter- but nobody would care if he wasnt riding daddy's name and his coat-tails...

You would be pretty correct if a fighter had a large amateur experience like most fighters you are probably thinking about. Chavez Jr however does not.

Don't you think it would be more beneficial for him, though, to fight someone who has also fought in 2005? Even if the guy is 0-10, at least he doesn't have a year and a half of ring rust.

A sparring partner would serve him more appropriately than this guy!

Chavez Jr. also seems to like scheduling white boys from Indiana. If I lose enough weight, I might contact his camp and see if I could get knocked out by him in a 4-rounder. That'd be something to tell the grandkids!

As you said right now a sparring partner would serve him better, and thats where his real work is going on. In sparring, that is where he is fighting the tougher more experienced opposition.
