Are you questioning the great judicial system of Indonesia? The Bali bomber mastermind got 30 months for killing 200 people at a night club.
oldgringo 05-27-2005, 03:40 PM She should have smuggled it into Ann Arbor. Dope is just accepted here. You might get a 15 dollar ticket max for getting caught with a blunt...thats if the cops even bother to write you a ticket.

Is that true? Jesus Christ that place is backwards!!!
I just think its a way harsh penalty. I think 2 years would even be too much.
TheKnifeManconi 05-27-2005, 04:00 PM maybe it was like some kind of drug ring/crackhead club and they were lenient on the guy for blowing that **** up
or he couldve released info about a bigger fish for em to fry if they minimize the sentence on him

Even if he did cooperate it doesnt justify that small of a sentence.

Yes it's true. The mastermind is Sheikh Abu Bakar Bashir, Indonesia's Osama bin Laden, who is the spiritual leader of a terror group aligned with Al Qaeda. He was convicted of giving the order to carry out the Bali nightclub attack and sentenced to 30 months or 900 days in prison. That equates to 4.5 days per victim murdered.
To top it all off, in Indonesia court of law you are guilty unless proven innocent -- literally. So that Aussie girl was screwed from the beginning.
Lesson? Don't go on vacation is ****ed up countries like Indonesia.
the_painless 05-28-2005, 12:28 AM **** indonesia. There was a story about them on the tv going back a couple of years ago and they were complaining about the behaviour of some of the Australian tourists. Thing is- tourism is a big part of their industry and we must help them quite a bit with their economy. It's kinda like biting the hand that feeds you! That story turned me off countries like that! We help em out with foreign aid and all the rest of it and they treat us like ****in ****!
As for the shapelle corby thing- i think a lot of Australians may think twice about going to their ****ty country again! I don't know why Australia couldn't strike up a prisoner exchange deal with Indonesia. Why don't they send schapelle to an Australian prison in exchange for a low life dirty indonesian drug dealer sitting in an Australian prison- assuming there is one of course! I mean schapelle was caught with 4kg of marijuana- if it were something bigger than that and more serious, she could have been sentenced to death! Here in Australia heroin dealers go to jail, while the taxpayers fork out thousands of dollars to help with housing, clothing, feeding and security of the criminal! I say send the ****ers back to their own country and let us deal with schapelle! if they don't like that idea then maybe we should spend our tourism money somewhere else- there is no law to stop us from doing that!
I am sure Australian taxpayers would gladly fork out money to keep schapelle in an Australian prison then they would an indonesian heroin dealer! I realise that taxpayers can't have the say in the courtrooms but keeping other foreign drug dealers in our jails makes it too easy for the dealers- they eventually see Australia and other countries as good drug dealing places cause their punishments are piss weak!
I can see why some countries have got harsh penalties for drugs but i feel sometimes ppl get their priorities completely wrong- i mean we are talking about marijuana here not heroin. Abu Bakar Bashir masterminded the death of 209 ppl in the Bali bombing- he got 3 years jail. Schapelle got 20 years for marijuana
ummmmm.... I think if it wasn't real it would be laughable!
Anyhow i have said my bit and Australians should no longer take it up the ass from these idiots! Maybe it's time to look at cutting back foreign trade with these dickheads aswell as spending our tourism money elsewhere- and again there is no law against that!
By the way i hope kostya tszyu beats hatton next week! it should be a good fight!

I was watching that on tv, her family was going nuts. 9 pounds of pot, and 20 years, that is insane, we have murderers, child molesters, rapists and they get shorter terms than that sometimes. I can't believe that, 20 years, down the train, because of 9 pounds of pot, that is ****ed up.
patto1984 05-28-2005, 01:22 AM yea i saw the trial live. that judge was a real prick, dismissed everything. He saw it as, drugs in her bag = guilty. Shes lucky she didnt get the death sentance for it.

That's what her govt is supposedly negotiating behind the scenes for. I think it will eventually happen if Australia pressures Indonesia by withholding economic aid money. She might have to do a couple years then have a prisoner exchange where the Aussie gov't would give her time served and release her.
Howard wont be able to withstand public pressure to do something to help her.
the_painless 05-28-2005, 02:26 AM funny thing is that the idiot prosecutors said the penalty was too lenient and corby's actions could damage Bali's image as a tourist destination LOL Wait till they see how much tourist money is gonna be lost when no Australians go there because of that sentence.
BrooklynBomber 05-28-2005, 08:35 AM They would never give her death penalty cause that will definately damage their relations with the whole world. And I dont fukin get it. Why dont they just send her back to Australia for a fair trial.

This whole thing seems fishy to me. For one thing nine pounds of pot is alot of marijuana, The most I have ever grown in a season is 4.5 lbs. When I travelled in australia I backpacked pretty much the entire east coast and smoked the ganja in different areas. For the most part, their weed isn't good. Infact its bunk, Some of the stuff grown indoor in Syndey is pretty good, they claim it's the best which is nonsense.
Anyway, Indonesia has a good climate for growing marijauna better then Australia infact. I've spoken to people I met in Australia that just came from indonesia and said it's easier to get weed there. What was this women doing with 9 lbs no less taking it to a place where it's easier to get marijuana. I just don't get it. You can't sell it to the locals because they don't have any money, the tourists can already get it from the locals. The women sounds pretty stupid to me. Maybe they connected her to a major supplier in indonesia, and she ended up taking the bullet.
Isn't there penalties for possession of marijuana that are just as unrealistic in some american staes. I recall seeing a program showing a guy that got 60 years for having 60 little seedlings. **** I'm glad I don't live down there.
