i was watching this documentary that some woman did on priests who abuse little kids.turns out when a priest gets in trouble molesting a kid,you (and most other people) assume they are tried and thrown in jail.not the case,in fact the church actually 'recycles' the same priest and puts them in a different parish,sometimes having some priests travel 6-16 different parishes in just a few years.

also most of the churches,when they receive a priest who they know could be dangerous to children,they let them work there anyways..craziness.also theres some kind of 'church confidentiality' that,when a priest is accused of it,they get off without doing any kind of time and theres no way an outsider can find out of he's a sex offender!(because the church gets involved and gets the guy off)they do some kind of psychiatric crap and get moved to a different parish.i forget the exact numbers but it was something like since year 2000 over 900 priests have been found guilty of doing it,and like 380 or something went as far as penetration.ive never known anyone that happened to,but still its sad.its a shame these ****ers get off scot-free like they do.

THE TORTURE AND DEATH OF SAINT SIMON OF TRENT


The small Simon, a little boy from Trent, was slayed on the 21st March, 1475 A.D., on Maundy-Thursday during Holy Week. And there are many good things that church brought to humanity like literacy and education but...the religion was always a powerful tool of controlling masses, especially uneducated people that were lower classes.
Now back to the issue. I believe there is a movie coming out either on hbo or showtime called "Our Fathers" that focuses on molestation issue amongst catholic priests. I believe that root of this problem is that catholic priests are banned from marriages and sex at all. What would you expect from a person who has a really high hormone level(that otherwise is lowered during sex) that is working amongst little defensless children who consider him to be their authority. He will use his power to get what he want. Sex is in our nature. We need it to be healthy and not having sex for your whole life will only drive you nuts.

Do you understand that religion itself is separate from church. Think about it. Religion is set of rules and ideas that pretty much tell you how to live. Church is the institution that interpretes the religion but church is not a religion. This is mainly why there are so many different types of christianity.

The references you made were all contemporary. WE would know if those parties said something true or not. Because the things they say can be verified by outside sources.

Religious documents are NOT contemporary. Often they have NO verification except the documents themselves.

We know there was a Jesus because he is talked about in ALL of the Gospels and documents which are not in the Bible. As to what he did and said.....that is where our knowledge is a bit hazy. But people can BELIEVE what they want about him. But GIVEN the lack of outside sources to confirm some of the things in the gospels, it may be unwise to label them all as truth. Especially when we consider the Gospels were written a minimum of 50 years AFTER Christ supposedly died. Also those documents were written in Aramaic, THEN translated to Latin, then English. We also must consider how the council of Nicea was selective about what documents went in the bible, alot of EDITING was done on these documents.

There is reason to believe that the bible and other religious documents are dubious in recounting what happened.

However, when the source is contemporary, it is EASY this day and age to confirm whether the information is accurate or not.

I feel so sorry for all the truly good many priests who sacrifice their own lives everyday to help God and His people. And then a little group of bad priests hurt and ruin everything. But, this should not make anything less Holy.

When Judas hurt Jesus, did this make Jesus or the other Apostles any less holier? No, it did not. Also, was it good for the other Apostles to talk constantly about Judas's sin all the time? No, it was not good or productive, it was not helpful.

Wrong. Here is a brief history of the Catholic Church that they did not give you in Sunday school.

First there was Jesus Christ. A revolutionary figure who spoke out against the religious institution he was raised in (Judaism). He was killed by that institution. After he died a movement called Christianity began.

The Christians were loosely knit community that had no doctrine or dogma to speak of, but tried to live in what they felt was the essence of Christ's teachings (love thy neighbor etc.) They had priests but this was determined by whose house they had the meeting at. So in many cases, women would be the priests.

A few hundred years later Roman Emporer Constantine "converted" to Christianity but at the same time used his influence to establish an actual hierarchy. The Catholic Church was born from the council of Nicea in 323 (you have undoubtedly heard of the Nicean creed). It is in the council of Nicea that the Bible was compiled from historical documents obtained in the middle East. They were edited and translated from Aramaic to Latin. It is also here where much of the dogma and power structure (Such as Popes, Bishops, Priests etc.) was established.

So the Catholic Church did not exist until nearly 300 years AFTER Jesus died. And even THAT had little resemblance to the movement that Jesus started. This is why I say they are three seperate entities.

He recalls the Catholic priests would call on their parishoners and if they placed their, for want of a better word, walking stick by the fron door no- one was allowed to enter the house, even the husband of the house. Many Many priests are left without any money, or place to live, or any support from the church and have to defend themselves all by themselves.

Some of these priests have even been found innocent.

The funny thing is that most of you who enjoy denigrating tha bible and Christianity are actually following the most basic tenet og the religion in your everyday lives. That is "treat others as you would like them to treat you". Christianity is not just about praying and giving money to the church. And it certainly isn't about bombing abortion clinics as some ignorant person suggested. It is about how you act in your daily living. When you treat people fairly you are acting in a Christian way. When you are honest in your business dealings you are acting as a Christian should. When you show compassion for the less fortunate you are following the message of the bible. If you meet any of these criteria than whether you call yourself a Christian or not, you are behaving in a manner consistant with the bible's teachings.

I dont know anything about "Pogroms." My mom's dad family are not from that part of Poland Wmute. When they lived there, they were from the Zakopane area in the tatra region. That was actually considered part of Austria. I dont know what the Austrian policy towards Jews was to be honest. They emigrated to the United STates in 1920.

I dont know anything about "Pogroms." My mom's dad family are not from that part of Poland Wmute. When they lived there, they were from the Zakopane area in the tatra region. That was actually considered part of Austria. I dont know what the Austrian policy towards Jews was to be honest. They emigrated to the United STates in 1920.

Yeah thanks your kind words. But my dad is not Polish. My dad is French and I will say British Isles Lineage (Northern Ireland, Scotland, Ireland and a little bit English) basically Scots/Irish. My Mom's Mom is German.
