Good luck to Jirov, I hope he gets through this fight and makes it to the top this year. As much crap as I read about Klichkos and other HW, almost everyone on this forum agrees that Jirov has what it takes to become a champ.

Don't get me wrong I love Vassily Jirov, he is probably my favorite fighter too watch, however I hate to break it too you he will fall short of becoming a true heavyweight champ. Could he possibly outpoint Byrd, yeah...maybe even beat Ruiz, maybe but he gets hit by everything even the kitchen sink. His fights with Toney and Mesi have probably dwindled his skills down even more. He is a face first fighter that has zero defense, MEsi was killing him for nearly the entire fight...I have seen Jirov fight twice live, once against Julina LEtterlough(JL had Jirov hurt) and the other against Jorge Castro...I wish he would have stayed a cruiserweight because it is only a matter of time before he takes another serious beating, and another and another at HW.

I love Jirov though, there is no one in the division that I will root for more than him!

Without manipulations and interferance he will end up on top.

Talk about another guy who should have stayed at his weight. I know Morroer became HW Champ breifly but had he been dedicated at least for a few more years he would have been one of the greatest lightheavy weight champs ever...no wonder why he had no chin as a heavyweight...he was lightheavy but a devistating one-if anyone hasn't seen moorer at lightheavy then do that...he was an animal.

I have a sneaky suspicion you may be right, Jirov could not get out of the way of Toney's left how will he get dodge Moorer's...if I was Moorer I would plant that left hand on him as fast and as hard as I could...Jirov does not take a heavyweight shot like he takes a cruiserweight shot. If the money was right I would bet Moorer, I will have to take a look...however I love Jirov-I doubt I could bet against him...but your right-Moorer is being undervalued in this one!

The Moorer Jirov fight i think is a good one to make. Previous post have suggested that Jirov should return to Crusier, i agree. But the post about Moorer, saying he should have stayed at lightheavy! he couldn`t. Moorer was maybe the biggest lightheavy ever. His last fight in that division, he entered the ring at 207 having drained down to 175 the day before, he couldn`t stay there. However, he might have been a decent crusierweight but then he woldn` have made money!

Moorer was an absolute beast at lightheavy for sure, and he had some potential at heavyweight as well, being the first southpaw heavyweight champion of the world is evidence enough of that...I don't think he was ever the same after he started switching trainers though. He never seemed to recapture the will to fight and showed up more and more bulbous at every fight. I think his time has come and gone and Jirov will give him a thorough spanking about his blubbery mid-section.

At any rate he will forever be remembered in the history books as Holyfields personal punching bag. :)

Sloppy Joe Messy hit Jirov with everyhting he had and couldn't knock him out, Jirov hit Messy with everything he had and ended his career ( gave him a subdural hematoma - bleeding on the brain ). True, Jirov takes too many shots, but he's tough, he could easily outpoint Byrd and Ruiz, though i don't think he has the skills to get inside on Vitali - where he needs to be to win that fight, hopefully i'm wrong about this. as long as Jirov isn't facing someone with Toney's skills, i think he'll do alright. i'm looking forward to seeing him make Moorer lean back

Moorer has a chance in this one. It will be entertaining to see. Moorer might be shot but we must consider he was KO'd by Tua on his last fight. I think Tua hits a lot harder than Jirov. This might be the slugfest type of war Moorer always did well fighting in... Meaning he might be able to exchange blows with Jirov and not be ko'd with one punch. It will be a slugfest between Moorer and Jirov no doubt about it.

Are you kidding me? Michael Moorer is a tomato can. He lays down for the 10 count faster than Michael Jackson can fondle an 8 year old.

If Jirov dosn't want to break a sweat he picked the right Michael.

Lets see Moorer has lost to Foreman, Holyfield, and Tua.. Not a bad list of fighters in my opinion. Who has Jirov lost to? Oh yes Jirov will break a sweat faster than Michael's Jackson's defense lawyer.

Moorer is in the best shape he has been in since he defeated Holyfield to win the Heavyweight Championship. In fact he is back with the same trainer that got him into shape for Holyfield.

Jirov is in trouble, he couldn't get past Mesi, and Moorer is a 2x Heavyweight Champion - and have you all forgotten that Moorer knocked out the 1st 29 fighters he faced?!

Yes he could have stayed at Light-Heavyweight and fight for chump change. Remember Roy Jones was the only Light-Heavyweight get paydays of over a million dollars. so it makes sense to got to Heavyweight. His best fight was against Bert Cooper

You are nuts, Jirov has never been KOed, he is a tank, they made him swim in frozen rivers when he was young, that sure didn;t KO him, neither did Toney's 1200 punches, or Mesi's 200 power shots. He ended Mesi's career. And if Moorer comes in as chubby as I have seen him before, Jirov might just give him a really bad stomach ache. :D

Jirov is an out standing boxer though he goes to war. The Moorer fight would be a good boxing match if that's their stratigy, but we know it won't be after Jirov takes a stunning blow. Jirov has skills and is fun to watch even when he prefers not to rely on them. He definately has a shot in the heavy weight division if he boxes a bit more.

You are trying to compare Mesi, who has never been more than a journeyman, and one who has had a VERY sheltered career at that -- to a 2x Heavyweight Champion of the World, a man who knocked out the first 29 fighters he faced, and the 1st ever Lt.Heavy Southpaw Champion. Are you serious?! By the way Mesi beat Jirov didn't he?!
