so what happened to the US's plans to invade iran ?
was it really just an unfounded rumour ?

i know the situation in iraq still requires a military presence
so i suppose they will have to wait before making invasion plans

An invasion of Iran will never happen, at least imo. This has nothing to do with my political leanings. The thing is that despite the general looniness of the Iranian government, the people there are totally against foreign intervention in their problems, especially from the States. At least in Iraq the majority of people were against Saddam's regime.

The insurgents in Iraq are causing so many problems and they make up ony a slim percentage of the population. Can you imagine a whole country of people like this? The U.S. knows that it's up against people that are generally united by a very hardcore ideology. I mean, the U.S. War of Independence was fought under similar circumstances. The British were screwed because the colonists they were fighting were so dedicated to their cause (plus they had considerable help from the French, but that's for another thread :) ).
