I cant believe Valuev is already the #1 contender for the WBA just by beating Entienne. Ruiz hugging tactics would have no effect against Valuev. If Ruiz wins this fight, he is going to have to outbox Valuev to do it. Valuev is a cheater and John is a cheater this fixes to be an interesting wierd fight. It wount be a grapple fest. When Entienne tried to grappe Valuev he got himself in nothing but hurt. John is alot more skilled boxer than Valuev and faster and he hits pretty hard, I think Ruiz could take Valuev.

Very interesting fight for both fighters, we will get to see Ruiz against a tall opponent and see how he handles it. Valuev will be tested against a world class champion.

Tough fight to pick, ugly as hell though.

I am a bit disappointed that this fight is happening instead of against Lamon.

Nothing will ever get accomplished in the heavyweight division.

Ruiz is a bum and will lose. Naturally. He should move to wrestling if he wants to save his brain cells or be a VW mechanic and try to move it with his left hook as someone once said.

Whenever I see Valuev fight I'm reminded of an old joke you hear a lot up here in Canada about hockey. People like to say that if you took the biggest, fattest guy and stuck him in as goalie he would be the best goalie in history because he would take up the entire area of the net and would just have to stand there and block pucks.

Valuev is the boxing equivalent of this idea...take a guy who looks and fights like a brown bear and see if he can overwhelm all the opposition with nothing but pure mass.

But Nicolai side stepped to his right and threw a huge downward right punch to the top of Cliff's head. Cliff wasn't KO'd but he did grab the top of his head and stayed down. He was clearly hurt.

This drew a lot of boos as well as approving roars from the crowed. Plenty of fans knew it was an illegal punch and made it known. Ref didn't seem to care it was an illegal hit.

I hope this big russian fouls Johnny Reez to death and the ref looks the other way every damn time. We all have to face facts though, no matter what happens Johnny is not going away, he may never go away.

This guys is his mandatory but i think Ruiz is entitled to one vounutary before fighting Valuev. One would hope this is Brewster but Lamon has a mandatory. My hope is that Lamon vacates the WBO title and fights Ruiz for the WBA.

It might actually prove to be an interesting fight. Klitchko tends to have more trouble with someone his own height. Valuev is, what....6" taller? I wonder how Klitchko would handle it, or if he would. Sometimes size is all that matters, if the difference is great enough.

ducking a punch is protecting yourself. Its complete bull**** if you or somebody duck a punch and then a guy Like Valuev hits in the back the head while your ducking there is no defence to that. That is what Valuev did to Entienne. Taking a serious rabbit punch can cause brain damage like nothing else.

And you can get such good leverage hitting somebody in the back of the head while their head is ducked and below you. Especially if you are 7 feet tall. Valuev should have ben DQ'd vs Entinee. I am going to upload the fight. The introduction is at least very entertaining.

It was probably torn further by the tape on a glove, or an unintentional headbutt. I've analyzed it many times, and it's just not completely clear where or when it was torn wider after the punch initially opened it.

Ruiz, however, I have seen him clinch and rabbit punch while the ref is on the other side of the foul. That's intentional.

I had the same opinion as you before the Etienne fight. Granted, Etienne is no champion but he is an above average fighter. And the way he fought, he was doing quit well. Now as for Valuev, believe me, this big guy can move. He's not fast but those long legs of his had Etienne swatting at nothing but air. Also, his jabs are a force to reckon with. Yes, they are slow but they will make contact because of the reach. He also has a sneaky right upper cut.

He can definitely beat a lot of top ten heavies. He won't beat Chris Byrd or maybe the Klitchkos but he'll definitely beat Ruiz.

Here we go with this **** again, "If Valuev was normal height", "If the Klits weren't so tall", "If B-Hop weighed 215", this **** means nothing! The fighters are what they are! That's like a 5'6 guy telling a 6'4 guy "If I was bigger, I'd kick your ass!" Means nothing!

Valuev is a very large, cumbersome fighter with skills which are fairly impressive given his size, but that's about it. But if you've seen him fight, then you've seen him get hit, he almost always does. Have you ever even seen him stunned? Of course not!

The damn knockout punch was a flagrant intentionale rabbit punch. That should have not been called a knockdown. A point should have been taken from Valuev and Entienne given 5 mineutes to recover.

I think what is going to do Valuev in is the fact is I dont think a guy of that size can stand to go at any kind of a high intensive rate of activity for 12 rounds. He would have to get tired by the 6th round at the latest....dead tired.

I have seen Valuev vs. Levin, Dominguez, Nobles, and Etienne, and have no reason to believe he should be ranked in the Top 15. There's that one "he's a giant" shot that could make a fight interesting, but any ranked heavyweight should be able to outbox this guy, including Ruiz. Chris Byrd would win 120-108...

Ruiz might get a DQ win over him as well; he tends to bait guys into fouling (Golota, Johnson)
