I saw the fight and was thinking to myself that too.. Imagine if a fight of that caliber was on HBO? Everyone always talked about Merchant and Foreman when HBO boxing.. I am convinced that it's Lampley thats makes HBO boxing what it is.. He is underrated.. He consistently brings excitement and passion to the broadcasts.. Merchant is a joke he really provides nothing of substance except trying to make himself sound virtuous with well thought out one liners.. I equate it to All in the Family after Edith died.. Everyone always talked about Archie Bunker, yet after Edith died on the show the show flopped.. Take away Lampley and HBO Boxing may not die, but diminishes greatly!!

Lampley is definately the superstar of the team but a guy like Merchant is more valuable then you give credit for...

He won't let Don King talk anymore because of all of the bull**** that flies out of his mouth and his fight ending analogy are definately muffled but if you listen to the message it always makes some sense in the end, hell my wife loves the guy and can't wait to hear what he says at the end of his broadcasts...plus I love it when he finally finishes his drawn out statement and he says..."Jim"
