Who do you think would win this Heavyweight battle?
Patterson 55-8-1 (40ko's) average weight 185 height 6'0" reach 71"
Jones Jr 49-3-0 (38ko's) average weight 180 height 5'11" reach 74"
Now that you know the stats lets see what you all think about this fight.
My opinion would be that due to Jones's speed and counter punching he would be at the advantage against the slower Patterson, Patterson though had a pretty good chin but he cut real bad his trouble came against fighters that were much larger than him. He could fight with heart and he was a pretty good attacker but Jones Jr due to his skills all around would probably KO Patterson late in the fight unless it was stopped due to cuts. This would be a bloody battle that lasted a while but in the end Jones would be victorious.
Jones by KO in round 11 or TKO because Patterson was too cut up.

Yes. Jones Jr would win this one, I believe. He was faster and had a longer reach. Patterson could probably match his handspeed, but had less mobility than did Jones.

I agree, in fact, i think Jones can get Patterson out of there even quicker. Floyd would be suckered in with those lead left hooks and straight rights: Jones KO 5

jones is faster but its close patts hand speed was right behind ali and tyson in his prime. but he never had a good chin hed give jones probs and had power to ko him. jones knows this so he will stick and move like ali did to a old patterson. jones by UD or tko if pats back gives out

patterson never would get KO'd by jones at 180 Liston KO'd him out and weigh alot more and had more strength.

Paterson would win probably by KO...Roy wasnt all that great at light Heavy or Heavy. He only fought 1 guy at Heavy (Ruiz). Patterson was a great was a good Heavy and a great Light Heavy.

Not sure how anyone can disparage Patterson's chin vs. Jones. Both are chinny, but Patterson can get up off the canvas to win a fight. Jones can't. Floyd's hands are just as fast as Jones and he hits a little harder too. Floyd was use to fighter guys bigger than him, Jones is not. Hmmm, I'm failing to see an edge for Jones here. A rather boring UD for Patterson.
