View Full Version : Contender
rocko617 05-23-2005, 02:42 PM Who will win the million dollars and a chance at the title?
El Supremo Sergio is 1/3 odds and Peter Manfriedo is 1/4 odds. I think the #3 will take in KO in round 5. Sergio has a good fast jab, but Manfriedo has better contact and smarter moves.

I haven't watched the contender that much, but I learn't the other day that Jesse got beaten and kicked out.
I'm glad... The episode that I saw, he was trying to start a fight with that ... "**** what's his name???" ... I can't rememberhis name :dunno:
Anyway, he then got the chance to choose who fought, and he picked Sergio to fight the guy he didn't like!... I though "What a ****in' *****!"... And Sergio said, "I'm gonna have to do, what you said you'd do".
Ishe or something like that was the guy's name!...
Anyways... That Jesse lost my vote... Don't talk the talk if you can't walk the walk!
The Pretender 05-23-2005, 04:13 PM Sergio will win because he's mean in the ring and Manfredo just sucks balls.
Tha Greatest 05-23-2005, 04:15 PM Manfredo is ok but if you noticed all his wins were controversial
Sergio is way to slick

Manfredo will get an upset victory, if he returns back to the basics, nothing fancy. Sergio is good, but lacks punch-for-punch power IMO. His speed and agility are his major assets. Manfredo will turn the tide around Round 4 and KO in Round 7.
ottoevans 05-23-2005, 04:21 PM i think Manfredo is the favorite, but i pullign for the latin Snake!

I wouldn't say that at all. We don't know how the fight really went.. Remember, they did doctor it up to make it look more exciting on TV.
The Pretender 05-23-2005, 04:32 PM Compare the two fighters by who is stronger mentally and has the most hunger.
Manfredo lost his first fight to Alfonso, his confidence shaken. He is brought back and has a close win and regains confidence. His next two fights were close matches coming down to the final round. He BARELY beat Alfonso in the rematch. He has too much doubt and relies too much on his dad being there.
Sergio's wins were all convincing and he simply has great confidence in the ring. His fight with Ishe he was the underdog and beat Ishe quite easily using his head and breaking Ishe mentally. His fight with Jesse he completely dominated. He was never even stunned in the ring in any match.
Sergio is hungrier and has great confidence. He'll beat Manfredo for sure.
BadMagick 05-23-2005, 04:38 PM I just want to stress that everyone should remember these fights are edited. We don't know how things REALLY happened.

And the sun shall also rise in the east. We know this. And that doesnt mean you cant tell who is more mentally stronger and getting the better shots in the ring, nor you ultimately won.
tito4life216 05-23-2005, 04:44 PM Going for Sergio, the great thing about this fight is it's LIVE!!! NO EDITING!!!! ABOUT DAMN TIME!!!!

I'm saying that because everyone is talking about who did better than who, and how "contraversial" the Manfredo decisions were. They might have been great decisions, for all we know.

The decisions looked fine, but Manfredo got hit with so many good shots he just wont be able to cope with Sergio's attacks. His defense is weak and his mind isn't very strong on its own. His confidence is directly linked to his dad's presence and he basically admitted as much.

Yeah but its still a lousy 7 rds.
edited doesn't change the fact that peter only beat miguel by a point and joey by split dec...... however, i'm gonna pick peter to win cause he seems like the bigger, stronger, harder, puncher...
oh yeah,
win peter will,
an upset we will not see
rocko617 05-23-2005, 05:54 PM Peter will be the dominant force. Why, you might all ask? Because his boxing is smarter than the "latin snake" Sergio has great fast jabs, but as you watched the fight between sergio and jesse. Once Jesse got a couple hard hits on sergio, he was stunned. Peter will take apart Sergio and remember all, Peter is fast. Peter has the experience in the ring no matter what the decisions have been in the past, his father being there or not, or how he barely beat some of the contender boxers. On any given day, any boxer can beat another boxer. Who thought Mike Tyson could be knocked out or beat?
Peter will need to take what he has learned, study the latin snake, and make sure when he gets the big punches connected, to not let sergio breath and drive him into the corner
My prediction
Peter Ko's Sergio in Round 5
The latin snake will get bit and injected with his own venom!!
Natty Dread 05-23-2005, 06:04 PM i think Manfredo is the favorite, but i pullign for the latin Snake!
I agree... :boxing:

listen, the fights are edited so we will never truely know how convincly sergio won.
He didn't beat ishe smith easily because the match was a close SPLIT decision so u could of given the fight to either man.
Anyway, i think sergio will beat peter if he outboxs him but i will give peter manfredo the edge.
Did u know the actual fight is tommorow on tuesday, man that was unusually quick and ishe smith is fighting brent cooper in the undercard match.
rocko617 05-23-2005, 06:23 PM Ishe is a good fighter whether he has the crowd behind him or not. Why are so many people signing these contender fighters off after one loss. If a fighter lets one loss get to him to actually retire or give up, then boxing is the wrong profession for him or her. The fights are edited, but what has been cut out is not important. Do you actually want to see the dancing of the ring or the hitting?
The_One77 05-23-2005, 06:34 PM sometimes the actual editing is quiet silly, for example.
Ishe smith won easily against ahmed kadour in all five rounds 50-45 to smith, but the fight itself looked very close and competetive. The reality is that they edited the fight to look more competetive than it really was.
rocko617 05-23-2005, 06:39 PM Editing is what TV is best for. The best bet to actually be at the match in person to see if it a close fight ot not. Why do many of them cry like punks at the end? Can't some of them just be grown a$$ men and deal with the loss and try to make it in boxing somewhere else? I laugh everytime one of them punks cry in the locker room because they lost. Most of the time, it was them that talked all the trash before the match (I.e.Anthony vs. Jesse) It shows what a plaster wall they are? Once given the chance, any good boxer can punch through a plaster wall!

You've NEVER been involved with ANY sport, have you?
I haven't really boxed yet, but I have been in other sports. Let me tell you, to lose the biggest event of your life is crushing. You're really down for a long time, because you just blew your chance at winning the only thing that mattered then. Yeah, there will be other opportunities, but it's crushing when you lose.
The true test isn't whether or not they break down after losing, it's if they come back strong after that loss.

What do u expect.
After u lose the fight you're emotionally and physically hurt especially when your family is there watching and depending on u to win. The fighters lost an oppurtunity of a lifetime, and whats worse they ask themselves that very question 'where do i go from here?'. For most of the losers the show itself is their very last shot at glory and fortune, they cry because when they train at their hardest; spending hours in the gym not earning anything to their own physical limits, and eventually losing when they fight there opponent. They get the feeling that the training was worthless and no matter how much they tried or trained, even with the motivation of their own families, they could not win when everything was on the line.
It's exactly how BADMAGICK said it-
everyone gets knocked down in life, what counts is how fast you get up.
You are naive my friend....
rocko617 05-23-2005, 07:42 PM Crying is for babies. Fighters go out there and hit each other into tomorrow. Do you see them crying when they get hit? No! You're on national TV crying. What a crock of you know what. Remember, this is a reality TV show, not real life. If it was real life, none of these boxers would be sparing and practicing around each other. Crying because you miss your kids is something, but crying cause you lost is just being a *****. I am not naive! It is up to them to get back up, but who wants to get up when the floor is wet full of tears. Boo hoo, boo hoo! What's worse is that they're crying in front of Sly. He looks at them and almost laughs, but keeps his composure. I would not cry in front Rambo, Rocky, Demolition Stallone. Sheesh. I think you need to join them in their tears. LMFAO!
