Anyhow, do you have it on fast forward cause your movement looks very odd. Couldnt really tell cause it was only 17 seconds and only threw a few punches. Any other videos you got?
richn 03-10-2010, 05:14 PM the video of you on the mitts looks like its been speeded up?

Ha I cant tell much from the mitts video the sound was like off from the picture, but not a bad sparring video, and from 4 years ago I can only imagine youve gotten better. You have good foot work it seems like and your punches were lookin snappy to me, sometimes form was a little off, but like I said that was 4 years ago, and im sure youve improved alot! Nice work bro, will have my **** up later

1 think i would point out is that u are kinda stiff loosen up bro relax your hands and punch away, another thing try extending your hands a bit more, and when your throwing your right hand put your shoulder into it like actually moving your body into it with the leverage of your right foot.
and i need a f0ckin camera... i wish i could catch my sparrin ive been doing lately am still in the process of gettin my rythm back on track
am thinkin of purchasing a camera 4 the computer!!
any idea on the prices!!??!

**** man, just keep goin with it and youll be alright, taking losses is part of the game, but its no reason to give up at all, and yeah i dont want to get KTFO either but you just gotta make sure no matter what you gave your all so if you lose you have no excuse, you know you fought your best and thats all that matters. Also about the camera's I dont really have a clue on prices for the computer cams, I used my boys camera for that video lol but i cant imagine them costing too much...
And thanks for the pointers man I appreciate that! And I can tell you know your **** because my trainers tell me the same thing, loosen up, and throw my shoulder into the right, I have been working on that, Im usually alright about it but when I get tired I start to forget to do that, and thats something I need to improve on. Thing is I have power too Ive always had a hard punch but then I started lifting weights and its gotten even better. I dont know if you payed close attention or not but can you tell me how my right hook was lookin? Cuz thats something I want to improve on badly, I think I throw it decent and Ive knocked people down with it before (in street fights and sparring lol) but I want it to be devastating you know? lol I appreciate the advice though man real talk... And btw what's your record?
hateinyaeyes32 03-11-2010, 03:10 AM good stuff man!

Thanks. I have 14 now. Could've had several more but I've had a bunch of fights cancelled last minute and some injuries.
I'm usually around 160 but I drop down to 152lbs for tournaments.
Good work! Great way to start out your am. career!
Thanks! My second fight two weeks later had a better finish but we don't have it on video :(
I haven't stopped anybody else since then because for my first fights I was just trying to kill the guy with every punch. I almost stopped my third fight in about 30 seconds but the guy survived and I ended up losing because I was tired so since then I've fought smarter and more controlled.

Thats good though man, atleast you learned. One loss is no big deal... My trainers told me the same thing about AM. boxing, not to try and go out and knock a dude out, they said if it happens then it happens but not to become dependant on it and look for it, just get the win by outboxing the opponent.

If your being serious and need some help I will help you out because I feel sorry for you man.
Number 1. Join a gym you need to join a boxing gym and get taught the very basics there you will learn what it is really like. If you make excuses for not going to one I will help you look better on the bag at home.
When you jab your right arm comes up to 90 degrees like superman my old trainer would say.
You need to swing into your right hand now its just an arm punch you need to learn the proper basics of pivoting into it.
Getting taught some basic footwork would mean you get a lot more power because you seem to lack any sign of power.
You need to come outside when throwing a hook the body or throw a straight to the body don't just drop your hand and throw it.
Aim higher on the bag you ain't gonna be fighting no midgets.
You lean your hand to the left a lot after every shot. No point in it at all.
You should not be throwing any hooks until you have mastered a jab then a right hand. Your looks well off and a very wild and easily spotted hook. You should move your whole body with it by pivoting but seeing as you have no footwork it is no surprise you have no left hook.
Left hand comes straight down after every shot all you have to do it parry your jab and over the top a right hand will land because yours will always be down.
Punch with your knuckles not the bottom part of your glove as you did in some parts. It does not look quicker if there is nothing behind it.
Do not drop your hands and 'move your head' they should be up at all times you duck with your hands down and move into my left hook your fcuked.
Thats the first 45 seconds. All I saw. Take it or leave it.
1 HitterQuitter 03-11-2010, 10:05 PM nice hat best state

Honestly man I am going to get a membership at this gym in detroit, i live about 4 miles, but i want to wait until june because right now im lifting weights, running, alot of bodyweight exercises, and just getting my body in better shape because I know that boxing is hard work and the work outs are intense, so I just want to be in good physical shape, I started lifting in beginning of September, and running, jumprope, situps, dips, pushups, wall squats, pull ups, you name it, all bodyweight exercises, and I hit the bag pretty much every day... I used to work out for a few years until about a year ago when my uncle moved because I worked out as his house, and did some boxing with him, and would spar with his kids who are boxers, and theyd beat me up, but Id hold my own for not having the kind of training that they get. I didnt have a job and as you know that means no money for a gym... But I have one now and I can afford it, but im just waiting until June... And when I lift I dont do very heavy lifting, or not as much as I used to atleast... Im benching 200 sets of 3, sets of 5 with 180, sets of 10 with 150. Military sets of 10 with 140, curling sets of 10 with 80, squats 240 sets of 10, deadlift sets of 5 with 300.. and various other lifts. Trying to do as many situps as I can it gets tough as hell sometimes but I just keep going til I cant anymore. Weighted situps as well with a 45 plate. I weigh 185. Ive been to the gym that I want to train at, and its legit, the guys who run it, well the ones I met, were both amateur and pro boxers, decent am. careers, decent pro careers, they know their ****. They told me I wasnt as bad as most beginners are but that I still needed to learn alot and they wanted me to keep coming.. I did for like a week but I didnt have the money for a membership (40 a month), and i was too broke to pay be paying daily like that, even if it was only 4 dollars, too much other **** I had to take care of, and I didnt even have a job. But I just got a job about 3 weeks ago doing carpet/tiles with a friend, and Im making decent money, enough to pay for boxing and still take care of everything else atleast, so Im going to go back in june when Im in a little bit better shape, because I think thats a reasonable time frame, and I know theyll make me lose/cut weight anyways and get me into even better shape, so Im not going to over do it. And I dont spar anymore with anyone except people I know that actually box because Im not trying to spar anyone who doesnt know what theyre doing, thats just pointless. I hit the heavybag and I have a speedbag that Ive been meaning to put up for a while, and im about to do it this weekend cuz its been too long, and im alright on that, ill make a video for you to critique if you want. I appreciate your advice though man, I know we got off on the wrong foot but thats whats up that you actually told me what I was doing wrong and didnt talk **** about it. I got respect for the P4P King now! Whats your record/weight class(es)? Pro or Am?

I have watched it. I try generally not to say nothing if i got nothing good to say, but I will be frank with you. If you want to box, firstly, get your ass to a gym. You need a lot of work.
I won't talk technique, P4PKING I see got that covered. But i'll give you some words...
Be patient and start at the beginning. Learn to jab. How to step, how to move, how to throw it. Not in a day, a week, a month. Learn it till you get it right. I was learning a jab for 6 months before moving on to anything else. And even after learning a lot more, slipping, counters, combos etc I still need to revisit and learn the jab. Everyone does.
Don't listen to haters. People trying to hold you down. While you can't help but hear them, never believe them. Believe only in yourself and those on your side.
Be patient. Work hard. Be patient. Your growth will best be measured in "look back moments". Again, not over a day, a week, a month...but over time served in toil and sweat.
You do those things with boxing and you will be rewarded. Not always with wins, medals, trophies, or accolades. But with something else much more important. A sense of accomplishment and pride in yourself.
Do those things in boxing. Do them in life. You'll get back what you put in. And that's about all I got for ya.
And good luck.

decided im going back to the gym a few times a week, ive decided to atleast do that unti i go everyday in june when i get a membership, just to get some fundamental training out of the way, still lifting everyday and running for now though trying to get myself into the best physical and mental shape possible before i start training everyday, i still hit the bags, spar with people who actually know how to box when im not at the gym (and getting beat up a little but am still keeping it competitive), and lots of bodyweight excersises, but i cant wait until i start to train everyday in the summer, im pumped up and am ready to soak everything i can learn up like a sponge and just become a student of the game, **** i already am doing that.. I used to think that basketball was my favorite sport but then when i started to get into boxing nothing else mattered to me much anymore not the bball not football, not baseball, not hockey, nothing matters to me as much as boxing... Guys who noone knows nothing about are putting entertaining fights on, on espn2 friday nights, i sit with my buddys and theyre like who the hell are these guys, and ill tell them what i know about them (sometimes I dont even know them), but then the guys will put on one of the most entertaining fights youll ever watch live... Then you order PPV and watch a boring fight like Pacquiao-Clottey, even though i do appreciate the display of offense pac was putting on from a technical standpoint, and it just shows you how entertaining or boring it a fight can be no matter at what level of the sport. And thats why I love the sport so much.
