neils7147933 09-04-2005, 12:17 PM What are you guys' favorite rap breaks on pop songs?
I like the breaks on Motown Philly on Boyz II Men and Feels Good by Toni Tony Tone and also:
Heavy D on Michael Jackson's "Jam"
Redman on Christina's "Dirrty"
Jay-Z on MJ's "You rock my world"

yes, it is.
I thought I'd need to drop a hint...
I believe it's from "Get Down". I know it is on the "Project Funk Da World" disc for sure...
neils7147933 09-04-2005, 12:42 PM Here's another strange lyric that you might be able to identify. Listing the first part might give it away, but name the artist who says "Straight from Long Beach/where we get more Nadia than Comaneci"

my first guess would be snoop cause he is from long beach but it doesnt sound like something he'd say
Dirt E Gomez 09-04-2005, 02:42 PM Nah, it's not Camron... I still can't figure it out and it's driving me crazy. It's a much more upbeat tempo with some horns in the background.
I recall part of a verse where it's like: There's a whole lot of money to make/ and foundations to build/big hopes big dreams to fill./Put my team on that'll be the next to thrill.

probably by me.
I'm a fan of a lot ofhip-hop but there are some retarded lyrics that get by even by those artists who are respected.
"I use Crest/so don't no cavities creep into my grill..."

If you know that many lyrics, throw them into a search engine and see what comes up....
Dirt E Gomez 09-04-2005, 03:14 PM I have, which is why I turned here. All I get are a bunch of ****ty returns about Dre and Eminem. And I don't think those are word for word the lyrics

Cheap bastard. Its RealPlayers Jukebox.
Seriously I cant imagine being without it now. You pay $9.99 a month and you get access to there entire library of music.
71,838 artists
104,996 albums
1,277,793 tracks
Pretty much every artist and song you can think of. It lets you stream the songs on your computer all you want. If you want to download the song or transfer it to an MP3 player you have to pay .99 cents, but you get 10 free credits a months so its pretty much paying for itself. The burner that comes with it is also good stuff. If your buring a CD you can crossfade the songs and what not so they blend together and what not.
Like I said Im listeing to Ghostface. I type his name into the search and get, Ironman, Supreme Clientele, Bulletproof Wallets, Shaolin's Finest and every song from those albums.
For some reason Def Jam is making you pay for the Pretty Tony album. I dont know why.

Do you have RealPlayer? If you do you can try it for 14 days for free, just make sure you cancel it before the end of the trial.

Im Sir Jose im way to pretty to be upset.
oldgringo 09-05-2005, 06:02 PM Honestly, AZ is to hip hop as Erik Morales is to boxing. This mother****er still gets overlooked even though he's been lyrically superior for 10 years now.
Go to mixtapeone.com and look for his mixtape, "Certified S.O.S.A."...that sums up who's the best outta NY for the last handful of years.
BLOODSHED 09-05-2005, 06:12 PM Those are some cool as pics of Michigan. Hopefully they can do good against Notre Dame.
Yes, rap sleeps on a lot of lyricists.

Thanks mayne...Henne/Hart gonna do all kinds of dirt this year.
AZ brought a new element to lyricism with his flow too. Nobody else has that smooth, triple cadence flow like him.
BLOODSHED 09-05-2005, 06:24 PM His flow is like no other truly. And he flows fluidly and isn't reachin for words like Jadakiss.
mic573 09-05-2005, 06:32 PM That new AZ album is jammin. This will be one of the best albums of 2005. The whole thing is jammin.
So far The Life Of Tommy Burns by Twisted Black and A.W.O.L by AZ are the best I have heard this year. I'm 100% sure Worst Rapper Alive by K-Rino will join them.
MetalVomit 09-05-2005, 06:48 PM I agree that AZ is better than Ghostface
oldgringo 09-05-2005, 07:12 PM Honestly, this dude should be paid off by now. I can't stand to see dudes like Yayo getting their ben franklin on while AZ is still slept on harder than anyone.
BLOODSHED 09-05-2005, 09:04 PM If AZ battled Ghostface, he'd lynch him. Give az a minute give Ghostface 5 minutes and it still woudlnt be close.
I agree that AZ is better than Ghostface
Sir_Jose 09-05-2005, 09:54 PM Wow thats great, hey that and 50 cents will get AZ cup of coffee at Circle K although coming up with the 50 cents might be a problem for AZ.
Dont worry im sure Ghost will loan it to him.

Ghost hasn't even been the biggest presence from that group. RZA and Meth are both more established on the hip hop map.
There is nothing that Ghost does better on the mic than AZ. AZ is superior lyrically and vocally. He has just as much flavor and his flow is really unique to him.
Doe or Die was better than anything Ghost has put out too.
Til this damned day he's slept on harder than anybody.

ghost is the most creative artist rap has seen in a long ass time, no one can duplicate the ghost and iam anticipating his ghost/mf doom album far more than a.w.o.l
in my all time ranks ghost is ahead of your boy az.
pretty toney
ironman

cuban linx( he was just as much a part of it as raekwon was)

Doesn't matter if Meth sold out or not. He was still nicer on the mic when he was doin his thing. Meth could ride a beat with the best of em.

im not arguing with you on the rza thing, rza is one of my fav producers of all time but iam talking about spitting right now
meth was nicer on the mic than ghost, come on man. tical was hot but he has takin a major hit in quality as of late

cuz if it's more than one fella tryin' to get wit her

she's nothin' but a nasty, money hungry, unclass, hoe happy jackie
guy- "yo, son word to mother, let's keep it real, that ***** ain't

now nothin' can stop it, once she in a ***** pocket

that's az from the ********. girl you better work dat ass."
jackie- "is he trickin' boo?"

jackie- "yo **** that i gotta eat his doe thang

Yo! Yo! Yo, **** that, look at all these crab *****z laid back
Lampin like them gray and black Puma's on my man's rack
Codeine was forced in your drink
You had a Navy Green salamander fiend, *****es never heard you scream
You two-faces, scum of the slum, I got your whole body numb
Blowin like Shalamar in eighty-one
Sound convincin, thousand dollar court by convention
Hands, like Sonny Liston, get fly permission
Hold the **** up, I'll unfasten your wig, bad luck
I humiliate, separate the English from the Dutch
it's me, black nobled you Ali
Came in threes we like the Genovese, is that so?
Caesar needs the greens, it's Earth
Ninety-three million miles from the first
Rough turbulence, the waveburst, split the megahertz

by perfect, i meant as a figure of speech. It doesnt deserve the 5 mic rating. There are flaws that keep it from being that 5 mic classic. A few of the songs had below average beats. AZ doesnt fail when it comes to rhymes. I guess I'm being too hard on one of my favorite MC's just because he had a couple wack beats. I change my ranking from 4 to 4.5.

BLOODSHED 09-13-2005, 01:53 AM Daily Hip-Hop News:
Voletta Wallace: "I believe Sean loved my son - after he was dead."
Voletta Wallace, the mother of the late Notorious B.I.G. reportedly bashes Sean "Diddy" Combs and Lil' Kim in Biggie: Voletta Wallace Remembers Her Son, her forthcoming memoir.
In the book slated to be published by Simon & Schuster's Astria books, Wallace accuses both Diddy and Kim of using Biggie's name and image to further their respective careers.
"I'm glad my son does not have to witness that the very people that he thought he could ride and die with wouldn't think twice about using his mother," Wallace writes in regards to Diddy and Kim. "I am glad that he's not here to see how they have used his image and his name."
Wallace also added, "I believe Sean loved my son - after he was dead. I used to tell Christopher all the time not to trust Sean."
Wallace then goes on to note that Diddy has repeatedly been shouting out her son since his death. Only months after Biggie's demise, Diddy, then known as Puff Daddy, released "I'll Be Missing You," a tribute song to the fallen rapper. The single, which also featured BIG's widow, Faith Evans and former Bad Boy R&B quartet 112, quickly became a smash hit and helped launch Diddy's solo rap career. No Way Out, on which "I'll Be Missing You" was featured, went on to sell millions of copies.
Since then, Diddy has constantly been name-dropping Biggie in countless appearances and recordings, recently paying tribute to the Brooklyn emcee at this year's MTV Video Music Awards.
Meanwhile, Lil' Kim has borrowed countless lines from the rapper and even adopted some of his aliases, namely Kim's 2000 album which was titled, Notorious K.I.M. Furthermore, in the book, Wallace alleges that Kim stole from her New Jersey residence after she let Queen Bee use the home for a magazine interview.
"The first picture I saw was Kim wearing my son's mink coat, holding his chain and wearing his hat. I was in shock. I felt violated," Wallace revealed in the book. "I read the entire article and learned that not only was Kim wearing things belonging to my son, but she claimed that the home belonged to her as well. This experience helped me draw my own opinions about Kim. And they weren't good."
Voletta Wallace's Biggie: Voletta Wallace Remembers Her Son is slated to hit stores October 25th.

O.K. I will agree with the tatse thing and taste only applies when you are not talking about a true Hip-Hop pioneer obviously anyone who cares about the music what so ever could agree on those things.I just have this thing to the fact that if I listen to a CD a certain amout of times I find the strenghts and weaknesses of it IMO and decide whether or not I would vouch for it as a thing to even waste your time listening to and I feel this CD is some thing alot of people who are just trying to get by with what is out and wants something at least backed up by legitimacy should check it out.Fair enough.I like you Fix you know that...in a not *** type way.LOL

oldgringo 09-14-2005, 09:24 PM A few gringo inquiries:
1. Anybody cop that new Little Brother? I hear it's hot.
2. I'm convinced that JR Writer is the only person in the dips worth listening to besides Cam.
3. Anybody got some new joints for me to listen to?
4. I just copped DJ Exclusives Ceritified Sosa: Hosted by AZ, and Snoop & Game: Westside Connection mixtapes...both real hot.
JR's rhyming abilities on Honey Dip (one of my favorite songs this year):

MetalVomit 09-14-2005, 09:43 PM I heard that Little Brother album is dope too, but 1. I'm not feelin 9th like everyone else, and 2. Pooh is one of the worst MC's I've ever heard.

I agree with #2...(hes not one of the worst but hes definitely ordinary)
9th gets a bit repetitive but usually he comes with a nice track that saves poohs rhyming.
jack_the_rippuh 09-14-2005, 10:45 PM Your signature is making me laugh for some reason.
blockburna944 09-15-2005, 04:19 AM The little brother album is pretty solid in my opinion. I dont think its really all that different from The Listening (mostly laid back beats, phonte and pooh's content not much different), but its still worth hearing.
It is funny though how much controversy it has caused in mainstream media for an album that isnt particularly controversial.
if you didnt hear, the chief editor for the source quit because he wanted to give the album 4.5 and benzino and dave mays said 4 mics.
http://www.hiphopgame.com/index2.php3?page=benzino
and the first music video off the album got banned by BET for being "too intelligent" http://alerts.sohh.com/article.php/7519
The Fix 09-15-2005, 06:37 PM the minstrel show was alright but its just like the first two litlle brother albums, its kinda boring me and i will not buy it.

they had a little beef, nothing major. just a few lines back and forth. That was when Cage was a "shock rap" MC, then Eminem showed up saying the same ****, but better skilled, and Cage didnt like it. Cage is more hip hop now that he's on def jux. check out the page link and listen to that "Left it to us" track. Cage is the first one to rhyme on that song.

blockburna944 09-18-2005, 05:34 PM Cage definitely makes truer hiphop material than eminem, but i swear hes too high to think straight on some of the tracks he makes.
Agent Orange (with that sick Clockwork Orange beat) and Radiohead are two good tracks i can think of off the top of the head.
boxstarr 09-18-2005, 06:36 PM i knew cage back in the days

unit021 09-20-2005, 12:58 AM anyone ready to pick up that dangerdoom album that's gonna be coming out in about a month? it'll be interesting since MF Doom was saying that it's gonna be cartoon based. oddest thing i've ever heard of in my life.
DefJux has been around for a minute. Mr. Lif, Aesop Rock, Cannibal OX, RJD2, Murs and El-P are all pretty much standards for the "concious, underground" crowd (i hate that ****in term. hip hop is hip hop). anyways, i want another Talib Kweli and Hi-Tek album. even tho Hi-Tek is workin on a new album with Dre's Hit Squad.
oldgringo 09-20-2005, 01:14 AM Yeah you like that ****? AZ and Dre baby workin on that Firm album (too bad it flopped for the most part).

I'm not saying all of the beats are wack. Let me go find the cd and I'll mention which ones I was talking about. Speaking of bonkers, that new Cage-Hell's Winter album is insane, in the best way possible. I expected it to be a solid album, but damn. I've listened to it 3 times today, had to go put it away before I play it out. Let me go find my A.W.O.L.
1.Still Alive-one of the worst beats I've ever heard. The song would have been better acapella. I'm certain I could make a better beat on my MTV Music Generator for PS2.
2.So sincere-Sounds lazy, especially for an album opener, not bad, but not actually good either.
3.Street life-the beats average, amatuerish beat for such an AMAZING MC to have to rhyme on. Half-A-Mil(R.I.P.) comes wack on it too.
4.Bedtime Story-also another amatuerish sounding beat that doesnt deserve to share a track with AZ.
Other than that, every song is basically Flawless. I think A.W.O.L. and Hell's Winter are the only threats as the best hip hop album of the year, as well as that upcoming DangerDOOM album.
