Just as the title states, we got a few amateurs but unsure about professionals. Anyone? Any amateurs considering turning pro soon?

I'll reply here.

That's really cool if you are trying to get involved with promotion. Thanks for the word.

Realistically I need some more time in the gym and I am finishing my 3rd year in college right now so I want to finish school first but I will be thinking about what I want to do with my life real hard this time next year.

If this next year goes well, I will definitly give you a call.

I know you are fighting alot are you thinking about turning pro soon? You seemed pretty young.

Pro would never be in my agenda, my only purpose was to test my skills and earn an award and see how I could compete. I had a few amateur fights but recently my trainer had passed away and dont have another one. Chances are I wont continue, I am trying to focus on my school as well as that is my overall top priority. Although I am still keeping myself in shape, plus I would like to get certified as a personal trainer.

But if you are interested and have trouble just shoot me a message my way, I know of a few promoters that showcase events in Ohio/West Virginia/Pennsylvania so perhaps that could get you on the right foot. If you are interested the offer would still stand.

I am moving to Detroit in 10 months..
I am going cuz I want to be a boxer, a legend, a icon, a champion...look at my sig...

I will be going to Kronk from there..
That is one of the main reasons I'm going there, wake up every morning, run, go eat breakfast, go to school(not everyday), go train at kronk, hit the bags, sparr, shadowbox, jump rope, etc. in the 100 degree layer of the legendary gym...from there go to work...
then go home and sleep...Then repeat the exact same thing the next day..

Routine of champions..

Spinx, expect to see me pro in 4 years..

I am at a great gym rite now here in Sacramento and my school ends in 1 week..
I'm gonna work every day of summer and save up for Detroit, I train 5 days a week right now..

Hopefully I can get at least 15 amateur fights b4 next April..

I am a force to be reckoned with, and I will one day end up in my sig...when I think of my future, I think of these 3 guys..

I'm 5'8, and have a body similar to them...
I will most likely fight in the 140 pound weight division when I go pro..that is a division that should be HOT as fire when I'm up there..

I dont wanna ruin the talk but it seems that people are taking the professional scene to lightly. Correct me if im wrong but i thought it was a matter of ur ability and ur natural determination that makes u a pro. Also the influences of the people outside of the gym like your trainer and such like which really makes a boxer a pro.

Dont forget u have to be talented and kinda lucky. I wish u all the best ThaGreatest but remember that u have just started and u shouldnt be ignorantly optimistic but at the same time u shouldnt be wrongly pessimistic.

Is it really that easy just to turn pro like what people are saying. All i know is that there is a shortage of amateur boxers in the UK where i live (i think only 5000 proper amateurs that compete etc.) so im guessin if ur the best ur bound to be spotted and have a career ahead of u. I would love to be a pro but i think im i bit more of a "realist" than some of the people on this forum.

That's the thing man...

People that are just "realists" don't end up goin anywhere

You dont have to have natural talents to be a boxer...
It's all about training your heart out n believing in yourself...
Train everyday like you training for a championship fight

Look at Thomas Hearns, maybe the most dangerous welterweight EVER

He didnt have any natural talent...but with heart he overcame all that..

To turn pro is relatively easy if you know someone, while it isnt the best choice a promoter will gladly throw you in with his up and coming meal ticket to make him look good. I have seen that happen many times already and I wouldnt recommend anyone jumping into the pro ranks unless they have a solid amateur background.

If you think you don't need natural talent to be a boxer, you're in for a rude awakening, lol! :D
You have NO fights under your belt, I'm sorry, but you don't know shit about boxing yet. You can train everyday like your training for a championship fight, but there are a lot of dudes with superior talent who do just that as well. And if you don't (not you specifically) have natural talent, they WILL HAND YOUR ASS TO YOU!
As for Hearns, anybody who says he didn't have natural talent is full of it, even if Manny Stewart said it. That's close to being one of the most ridiculous things I ever heard.
But as I said, you'll soon wise up, if not sooner, then when someone with twice your talent hands it to you. :D

There's quite a few good gyms in Michigan. Kronks and Byrd's are the best. You'll get some good amateur experience there.

I agree. People are talking about professional boxing like it is a job at McDonalds or something. If I could go pro, I would, But it's not one of those easy things.

Im not gonna say im the most talented person in the world but I feel I'm getting a looot better

I wasted 9 months ( NINE WHOLE ****IN MONTHS) at another gym...

I just started goin to a new gym like 3 weeks ago, we got 2 national champions...

The first few times I sparred I got whooped, now I feel that Im gettin a LOT better, and now I ain't the ones getting whooped, my hand speed is gettin a lot better, I got good power for my size, gettin a lot sharper with my punches, footwork gettin a LOT better, conditioning is gettin a lot better, and my reflexes got a lot better and my counterpunching, after a few weeks...

I will record my sparring sessions soon and all my fights, I will put all my fights on here, and some sparring sessions(also the first where I took a ass beating)

I just gotta find out how to upload them on to the comp

and everyone thinks I'm ready to fight right now, but I wanna give it another 2-3 weeks first..

I'm training to become an amature fighter right now. If i were lucky enough to be that talented that i could become a pro, i definatally would.

But I would be just as happy fighting as an amature.

We'll see how it turns out for me. :boxing:

I train at the same gym as THAGreatest. He's pretty good, best of luck to you. See you at the gym.

That's cool dude. I'm not saying YOU have no talent, I haven't seen you fight. I'm just saying that you DO need talent to be a good, and especially a great, fighter. The reason I said this is because you said you don't need talent, and that's just wrong.
Looking forward to seeing your fights, and the best of luck to ya' :)
