How do you think Jones would fare against the 90-94 version of George Foreman?

Do you think he would of been able to avoid the bombs of Foreman and box his way to a decision or would he sucuumb to the power of Big George?

I doubt he could avoid a george foreman hayemaker for a whole 12 rounds.

RJJ is bloody after round 1.

By the end of round 3 his family is preparing a eulogy.

roy would basically do what holyfield did......old fat foreman could not deal with jones speed......

Obviously if George touched him its over, but Roy Jones isnt Holyfield he isnt going to give him much of a chance to land anything. It wouldnt be pretty, but I think Roy could potshot his way to a victory. Against a prime George no way he avoids the big bomb all night and leaves on a stretcher.

Are you comparing a more natural HW in Holyfield to RJJ who is a Middleweight at best?

If Jones ran the whole fight he might win a decision. As long as he did't let the older Foreman to set his feet. If Jones stopped moving it would be over though.

If Jones could keep moving, swick to one or two shots at a time and generally fight cautious as hell he might win, but one shot from George and it's over. Even one of big george's loaded left jabs might end the show.

Interesting fight because Jones would lite him up way worse than Holyfield. We know Foreman ain't going down, question is could Foreman score that KO blow, he was a wily bastard at that point in his career.

Actually a hard pick. I'd pick Jones, but he would need a perfect fight.

If I had to pick.....

I'd trust George to line up that fight ending blow more than I'd bank on Roy to play cat and mouse for 36 minutes.

Roy avoided punchers for a reason.

If he fought Foreman I'd fear for Roys life.

Is nobody taking into account that Moorer was lighting Foreman up until he got caught? Roy was much faster and much more elusive than Moorer and George would have had real trouble catching up to him. At that point Roy was making 160lb fighters look like they were fighting underwater and we're talking about a man who couldnt catch up to Ali 20yrs prior Roy has more than a decent chance in this fight.

I'd like to see them fight 3 times......

RJJ wins 2 out of 3,with Foreman catching him in one of the fights.

I couldn't pick a winner in just one fight.RJJ wins most of the rounds in all 3 fights, but gets caught in one of the fights.

Hard to say. Foreman had a pretty good jab in his comeback. Not quite sure about the 45 year old version that beat Moorer, as Mack said, Michael was winning just about every round of that one. I was thinking more along the lines of the 40 year old that demolished Cooney.

Roy was smart to avoid Lennox, though, and move back down rather than defend against his mandatory, Vitali.

Wrong.

Roy avoided punchers for a reason.

This thread concerns Roy Jones, not Joe frazier.

The older Foreman was so relaxed in the ring. And threw an excellent jab. Had a great chin. Roy would get cut down to size.

No. It would be like trying to fight an elephant with a pea shooter. Foreman would hurt Jones with anything he hit him with including the jab which was a very accurate one for Foreman.. Jones would have nothing to stop or or even slow down Foreman's aggression. It was different with a fighter like Ruiz.
