American_Ninja 03-07-2010, 01:00 AM Great card tonight. Miguel Torres was submitted by guillotine choke in round 2. He was taken down by JOSEPH BENAVIDEZ. Benavidez opened a bad cut on Torres forehead with an elbow, he secured the choke just a few seconds later forcing Torres to tap.
Brian Bowles lost his Bantamweight crown to Dominique Cruz via 2nd round TKO. Bowles was unable to continue due to a broken right hand.
On the under card, Scott Jorgensen needed just 31 seconds to submit Chad George with a brutal guillotine choke that actually lifted "Savage" off his feet

sorry about the font, technical problems. haha
Eric Holder 03-07-2010, 01:30 AM Torres looked gunshy, it was dissapointing to see after working with Miguel Cotto, I thought his striking would look better...credit to Benavidez he's like a mini-Urijah Faber.....
also Cruz has a really akward style
check out Torres' cut http://twitpic.com/178rkp
Sammy J 03-07-2010, 03:41 AM This card was pretty much the underdogs winning. I underestimated Benavidez a lot. I thought Torres was going to use his size advantage to dominate this fight, and instead it turned out being the opposite. Torres doesn't look the same anymore, either that or Benavidez is a ****ing problem! Credit to Benavidez, but Torres needs to go back to the drawing board. Brian Bowles lost as well, so Torres vs Bowles will be a good rematch for both fighters coming off losses.
As far as the main event goes, I was actually also surprised in Cruz' chin. Maybe it was because Bowles didn't have as much power, considering he "broke his hand with his first punch" and so it wasn't as effective. However, Cruz' showed he was the all around great fighter, showing out his kicks and taking Bowles to the ground. I really don't have much to say, but that I was 1-for-5 in my predictions. I was sort of upset in that.
It was sad to see Jens Pulver go out like that. I had to hold back my tears. No joke. Very emotional speech he made at the end. But I think he's done. As much as he loves the sport, he needs to hang it up. He can commentate for now on, because Stephan Bonnar just sounds gay when he commentates. lol.
Looking forward to UFC on VERSUS 1, Dream 13, and Aldo vs Faber. Dope cards coming up for MMA.

Lil Evil said he's not gonna make us cry no more. Sad indeed. Cant help but love the guy.
Bullrush 03-07-2010, 01:48 PM saw torrest the first time when he fought bowles. he looked like ****, had no clue why everyone was drooling over the guy. then of course he gets knocked out. now he gets submitted again. he's average. an average fighter that piled on lots of wins against crappy fighters

Actually Torres is a very good fighter. I think maybe he was too cautious last night. Thats not the fighter I've seen in the past.
Bullrush 03-07-2010, 02:42 PM this was the second time though. and he never had any off days in the past. when he got knocked out by bowles that argument would have worked, maybe he had an off day. but now again? thats two straight losses, a knockout and a submission. those other guys are just better than him, they make him look like he's having an off day. if you put him up against average fighters again he will knock them out
StillUnknown 03-07-2010, 03:17 PM Pettis' headkick KO was sickness, that ref needs to be fired and then shot
jorgenson's guillotine was almost as brutal as one Dan Miller used back in the IFL
Sammy J 03-07-2010, 03:57 PM Torres is a legit fighter. I think Bowles may have ****ed him up mentally, though. He definitely has shown that he's not the same fighter since then. I hate to see him go downhill from this, but he needs to go back to the same Torres. I think him training with himself was actually a good look. I mean, look at how many fights he had won and his whole career? INCREDIBLE. He needs to go back to that, in my opinion. Just cause he got knocked out by Bowles doesn't mean he has to change everything. I just feel he got caught and he get back in there again if he's the same old fighter.
Oh and Jorgeson's guillotone was deadly. He picked dude from the ground. His feet was hanging. lol. Dude is a beast!

Yeah, you're right! I just don't like seeing him in there losing. We'll see what happens.
