View Full Version : Another bad decision, or more biased announcing?
SacTown1 05-21-2005, 12:57 PM What do you think about last night's events? Was Dale Brown the victim of horrible judging from Florida's finest? Or was Joe Tessitore's biased opinion a poor reflection of the actual events of the fight?
IMO 115-113 Bell was the correct scorecard, 117-111 is atrocious but either way I had Bell winning the fight (I don't listen to the announcers during fights anymore, so when I went back to watch a 2nd time I was shocked that the announce squad had Brown ahead in the fight)
{BrownBomber} 05-21-2005, 01:25 PM I dont know but some how some way the commentaters make you see it a little their way. When I rewatched the Chavez - Taylor on mute it was a whole different story,Taylor was winning no doubt but the made it see like it was a total domination. The way the judges had the fight scored was correct in my opinion. They had Taylor by SP D.

I watched the last six rounds of the fight and Brown appeared to be beating Bell rather easily, I was shocked that, that was the oneill bell I have been hearing about. Like I said I only watched the last 6 rounds and bell only would through one or two haymakers that was missing while brown was peppering him with combos spinning and counterpunching. It was the best I have ever see brown fight, and I think brown is a bum...It was a clear robbery...Brown should have got the nod.

Lol, this is the third thread about this, anyway..I scored it:
Brown: 1,2,3,7,8,9,11 & 12 (the 3rd could have been a 10-8)
I gave Bell the remaining 4 rd's. It was a terrible decision...all Bell had to do was go in behind his jab and straighten his punches up a bit..but he blew it.

BELL BLEW IT?? uhhhh he's the brand new IBF cruiserweight champion....
I hope I blow it!
Seriously, Bell's legs were shot, but he piled up a huge lead in the early rounds and didn't have to win rounds 10-12 to get the title
Truth 05-21-2005, 01:55 PM The commentators do kind of brain wash you to see the fight their way.
Konstantin 05-21-2005, 01:57 PM The may have exagerated a bit on the fight but I think Brown clearly won. Even Shane had Brown up.

Yeah, he's the new IBF champ..gift decisions have a way of doing that. Keep in mind that I was seriously rooting for Bell the whole fight. I kept yelling at him to stop following Brown around and to cut him off..to establish his jab so he could set his shots up better and not miss so often. Oh, and to stop just standing there so much waiting on Brown to do something. And straightening his punches up some would have helped too.

I put it on mute after rd one started, and left it that way til the decision was read. I know better than to listen to any of them if I'm trying to score it..and I was rooting for Bell so I was worried about being biased.

less rooting + less listening + more watching = better perspective on the actual events
Bell wasn't Captain America or anything last night, in fact it was one of his worst showings, but when you win 7 of the 1st 8 rounds easily, you'll NEVER lose the decision!
It reminded me a whole lot of Castillo-Floyd 1, the brotha gets the early lead then puts it on cruise control, while the biased announcers begin to praise the fighter whose trying to come from behind and they proclaim the verdict as biased or fixed, sorry people the bias of the announcers these days is ludicrous, not the judges!

No way he won the first 3 rds...no way in hell! Since you DONT have a clue exactly what I was doing, I'll be glad to tell you since you think I scored it wrong because of outside influences...TRY no volume (talking) therefore no listening. I score them on my own. Considering youre badly in the minority as to who thought Bell won, maybe you should take your own advice when trying to score a fight. Just a thought

Maybe you were biased, because the announcers were right. Floyd was doing pretty crappily from the get-go. He began to run a lot in the EARLY rounds. Floyd lost that fight, the end.

Actually, Floyd won, and Bell won, end of story
IwatchBoxing 05-21-2005, 02:20 PM Look at some examples:
They say Chavez beat Taylor first time(didnt), Castillo beat Floyd(dont know), DLH beat Trinidad (didnt), Castillo beat Casamayor (didnt).. fact is almost everybody has a biased, thats boxings problem, it wasnt Floridas evil judges, they were just judges, all boxing is corrupt.
tracylee 05-21-2005, 02:22 PM Actually, Floyd won, and Bell won, end of story
Actually, it's not the end of the story..cause everyone will always remember the gift that Bell recieved. Blatant robberies like that stick in peoples memories for a long, long time. And as much as I like Bell, if he fights like that against Mormeck, he's gonna need another gift.

I'm badly in the minority of the know-it-all's on this site, but I was in agreement with the 3 people whose opinion COUNTS. Our opinions don't count for anything, so I'm not concerned with all of the biased haters who bad-mouth the officials....if Brown would've taken Bell out, like a CHAMPION should do, we wouldn't be having this conversation anyhow, so I can't feel sorry for a guy who is breathing hard from round 2 on, both guys were in awful shape last night and both should be embarassed for their performances, but BELL WON and he's the new title-holder.

no question about it, Bell has no shot vs. Mormeck....but would Brown do any better? Doubtful, plus it doesn't matter because Bell has the belt

good call, this post has a lot of truth to it, the whole sport is corrupt, from the judges to the refs to the promoters to the announcers, we always feel the need to point the finger at everyone other than the 2 combatants, whether there is actually corruption or not.... however, KO's solve all wrongs, Brown didn't KO Bell, so why is everyone feeling sorry for the guy?
All you ever try to do....is act like a member of the opposition party, and its evident in your hating posts. 9/10 posts are centered around disagreeing with people....or hating on fighters you dont like. You start ridiculous threads, and for the most part are an annoying ****.
like the "Castillo was drugged" after Wlad knocked his ass out.
"Most disgraceful performances" and then when given a chance...all you do is hate on people.
Somebody give Sactown1 a sip of Haterade......cuz he needs it.
Super_Lightweight 05-21-2005, 02:28 PM Actually, Floyd won, and Bell won, end of story
You are wrong, buddy. Floyd ran like a ***** in that fight. He ususally doesn't but n that fight he did and he lost.
I don't care if you share an opinion with 3 old geezers who can't see the fighters because of the ropes and the ref and have to look up at everything. If you share their op that says something about your eyesight.

you just spend 2 minutes of your Saturday crying about my posts, you lead a most interesting and rewarding life...
The "Castillo was drugged" post was blatantly sarcastic, you're just not sharp enough to see thru the sarcasm....
and yes, I disagree with many people on this site, but what's the fun of trash-talk if you can't play devil's advocate here and there? Don't take this stuff so seriously youngsta...
and FYI, the judges gave Bell a UD, and I agreed, so how am I the hater?

Fact of the matter is. I contribute to this site, and you take away from it. You have a negative symbol in front of the words Sactown1.....you just cant see it.

I honestly dont know or care how Brown would do against Mormeck...I'm not a fan of his. I do like Bell, so of course after seeing his performance last night, and the very lucky break he got, I'm a bit concerned about him taking on Mormeck. But, then again, it would have it's own justice, wouldnt it?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, he's got the belt, FOR NOW. Unless he goes back to fighting the way he's always done, he's gonna lose that belt soon. Not all judges are so impressed with a few landed power punches that they give the entire fight to a guy that clearly lost.

Contribute to the site? This is a trash-talk website, not a special-ed class, opposing opinions are what MAKES this site, agreeing with everyone else's thread and piggy-backing their opinions is a waste of space, YOU NEED guys like me and Mckay/The Pretender and Anorak to play devil's advocate, otherwise this would be one big sissy-fest with everyone lovin' each other, it's BOXING, we need FRICTION, and I provide it in a big way, so in essence, YOU provide nothing to this website...
and once again, O'Niel Bell, the NEW cruiserweight champ, deal wit it!
YOU provide nothing to this website...
Not true. I help seed fights and post downloads in the lounge in miscellaneous threads.
