Thought of this in another thread, but if you could pick any TWO fighters of any era and somehow merge them into one, who would you pick to become the greatest fighter of all time?

Generally speaking, assume that if you overlap strengths like a power puncher with another puncher, you'd end up with one seriously one dimensional fighter...which means someone else with a complete ultimate fighter should beat yours. So aim for complimentary strengths to build the most complete fighter of all time.

Ok, I'm serious here and I think Ruiz and Tua merged would be devastating.

Ruiz/Tua = 250 lb fighting weight, great KO power, great heart, fearless, master clincher, and uncanny luck.

Who can beat my ultimate fighter?

There are way too many fighters for this but 2 that come to mind would be Sugar Ray Robinson with Sweet Pea. Best fighter ever and another one of the best with probally the best defense ever. Fight at 147 I guess since that was Sugar's lowest and Sweet Pea fought there also but he was better lower

Whos sweet pea? Sugar was awesome though I love watching his fights. Talk about skills.

Damn you have got to be kidding me. When i 1st read this topic the thought of Foreman and RJJ. This is weird. WIth all the boxers out there what are the chances of two people picking the same 2 fighters. Boy that would be a combo.

What if we were to merge two boxingscene posters together. Would one be a Golota fan and other a Ruiz fan, posting all over and wouldn`t it be funny if this poster criticized himself!

Pernell Whitaker with Ray Robinson would be the most unfair mother****er ever.

KO power in both hands...

Quicker than anyone...

Unbelievable hand speed...

Unreal defense...

Complete attack upstairs and down...

Insane ability to take a punch (not like it'd matter with Pernells defense)...

Seriously, just Whitaker with punching power would have been out of this world.

James Toney and Gerald McClellan would be interesting. A fighter with Toney's throwback style, natural skills, and polished boxing knowledge with McClellans imposing punching power and ability to jump on his opponents while throwing multiple devastating punches at a time. He'd have an incredible chin, defense, and counter-punching skills all while being able to blow you out or KO you with 1 punch.

Mayweather and Morales.

Nevermind I just found the gamebreaker...

Thomas Hearns and Marvin Hagler. I really don't think anybody would be able to beat this guy. Excellent jab, reach, CHIN, workrate, countering, infighting ability, boxing skills, and oh yeah, the most LETHAL punch in the history of the sport. If Tommy had slightly better stamina and a beard like Hagler then nobody would have ever beaten him.

Yeah but he might bite his own ear off when frustrated.

But I think that mention of Ali and Foreman pretty good, imagine George floating like a butterfly. And Sugar plus Pernell is awesome too.

Yah, Robinson had the heart I think, until he killed that guy in the ring. Once that happened, I understand he didn't really want to box anymore, and did his singin'/dancin' career. Then he ran out of money and had to box again.

So, yah, SRR with the granite chin(even though his was pretty damned good already) and heart of Jake Lamotta would be devestating. All the SRR with a defensive fighter combos are good too.

You don't need to combine SRR with guys that have power, speed, agility or good chins, because he already had it. Basically the only thing he could improve was his defense, even though it wasn't bad, and his heart after he killed that guy. The guy was almost the perfect fighter as he was.

Right...but with Lamotta's open style and the way he absorbed punishment, it was clear who had the bigger heart. SRR did have heart of course: but in his early days he would box alot more than the later part of his career. Lamotta was a tank since day 1 and could absorb the most punishment of any fighter of all time.

He was never knocked down his entire career.

1.i pick Floyd Mayweather for his defensive skills and speed along with his boxing ablility..
2. Mike Tyson not the tyson today but a prime tyson for his youth power and even more speed. Put Great defensive skills with tyson along with his speed power and movment and make him a puncher/boxer you got a beast.

Very true. Looking at it that way, he would be one of the greatest intimidators in boxing. I'm sure people were scared enough of fighting SRR at the time, without him having incredible hulk ability to absorb punishment.

edit: And maybe if he'd had Lamottas super-human endurance and resiliance, he wouldn't have ended up brain-damaged with early senility.

haha. yeah that would be cool. Those two would make a super heavyweight though. Holmes workrate combined with ali's skills would be superior to just about any other fighter in that division.

JCC- Crazy pressure, chin, slugger-boxer w/ great body punching
Floyd Mayweather jr.- Awesome defense, great boxer, almost impossible to land a clean punch on, and his a bit of pop of his own.

This guy woulda KILLED Meldrick Taylor if he were for real.

All are real good choices, i would go with a combo of either ODLH and Hagler or Roy Jones Jr and Aaron Pyror. ODLH had great boxing skills, terrific jab and was a devistating puncher. He was so polished and so smart in the ring. Hagler was Hagler, remarkable. Power, Speed, Abaility to take a punch, foot work, he had it all. Combined with ODLH that would be a awsome fighter.
Roy Jones Jr's handspeed, footwork, great defense, and speed in general and power was awsome, if you put him with Aaron Pyror who could take a solid punch, throw such devistating ones and have stamina that was very solid. That would be a very great fighter aswell.

I would merge the boxing style of Ricardo "finito" Lopez and give him the jab of Larry Holmes.
