It was voted the biggest event in the history of Madison Square Garden, the mecca of boxing. Yeah. I think Ali-FrazierI and the Schmeling-Louis II were the two biggest fights with Jeffries-Johnson and Dempsey-Tunney II fighting it out for number 3. Bigdaddy_Vh 03-03-2010, 09:59 PM i would say(btw these are in no order of any kind) Leonard/Hagler Tyson/Lewis Louis/Schmelling 2 Ali-Frazier honorable mention: Mayweather-De La Hoya, De La Hoya-Chavez 2 future possibles-Mayweather-Pac boxingbuff 03-04-2010, 03:01 PM 1-Fight of the Century....Muhammad Ali vs Joe Frazier 1 2-Joe Louis vs Max Schmeling 2 I pick Ali-Frazier 1 because you had two great Heavyweights(Both undefeated)where Louis-Schmeling had just one great Heavyweight. Both fights were about equally anticipated. Chex31 03-04-2010, 03:29 PM Ali-Frazier I Louis-Schmeling II If Mayweather and Pac fight, then that may be the biggest fight of this century Boss Don 03-04-2010, 03:33 PM Ali-Frazier is the most anticipated fight in history hands down JAB5239 03-04-2010, 05:25 PM Ali-Frazier is the most anticipated fight in history hands down Everyone in the world was anticipating Louis-Schmeling II, not just fight fans. The world wide political ramifications made it the biggest sporting event in history. Not just "fight fans" were anticipating the Ali-Frazier 1 fight too. People around the World were anticipating the Fight of the Century for many reasons as well. Both fights were anticipated around the world, but the Ali-Frazier fight was "bigger" because you had two undefeated Heavyweight Champions. It's close, there 1&2 for sure. Sugarj 03-04-2010, 05:42 PM Tyson vs Spinks was huge at the time! To be honest.....Tyson vs Bruno 2 was massive too. Non boxing fans were into that one, especially in the UK. Could Tyson be champion again? Sometimes a disappointing fight/result can overshadow how big an event was built up.
