Hey guys,

Holyfield used to train wearing an "Upper Body Harness" apparatus that had two handles with cords attached to the harness. He would {When I saw him use it} throw alternating jabs while getting resistance from the harness with handles.

What is that device ????

What is it called and who distributes it????

Thanks

***

Currently I'm using 10 - 15lb rubber coated weights to throw alternating jabs .... but was hoping to get a device where I can alter the resistance at will.

I remember seeing footage of Holyfield training with that resistance device years ago.

I've got one of these -

w w w .shadowboxeronline.com (I'm not able post url links yet).

They do the same job and comes with three different resistance bands, they're pretty good, I don't know if this is a common problem but the velcro around the belt on mine seems to have worn a bit and some times comes off during training, easy enough to fix though.

Yeah ... that will work, I would want it to be up a little higher, around the pectorals but I will try it .....

personally I don't see the point in those things. They only provide resistence for straight punches, IMO you would be better off doing (one arm)pushups if you want to work those muscles for endurance

Am I the only one who doesn't see any point in one arm push-ups?

They aren't going to help with endurance because most people can't do more than 10 repetitions and you aren't improving endurance with 10 reps.

It's a show-off exercise more than anything

I get the whole 'most people can't do them' thing. But one arm pushups put most of the weight on the anterior deltiod so are pretty useful for strengthening your shoulders in the way closest to how they are going to be used.. It's about as close as you can get with bodyweight exercises anyway
