View Full Version : Ruiz vs Tua question
tonytucker 05-19-2005, 06:53 PM When Tua landed his first huge left hook on Ruiz, if I remember correctly it was the ropes that stopped Ruiz from being knocked to the canvas. He was not given a count and Tua went on to knock him out. If the ropes stopped him from being put down after that first left hook does that not count as a knockdown. Should the Ruiz vs Tua fight be classed as a "no contest" instead of a loss on Ruiz's record? What are your thoughts on this matter?
Later brother brologs.

theres no fukin way it should be no contest. i dont know where u get that from. if u say give him a count, would the result be any difff, ok i can accept u saying that.
BUT A NO CONTEST
16 SEC KO..... RUIZ SUX
plain and simple
Yarmez 05-19-2005, 07:16 PM Ruiz Got Knocked the ****out, in that case then Mercer Vs Morrison in a No Contest, cause Morrison was down and getting hit, if the ref is to slow to stop an onslaught of punchers then i blame him.
Tarver is my dad 05-19-2005, 07:23 PM When Tua got that first left hook in, Ruiz fell back and the ropes held him up, I thought this would have counted as a knockdown...
Yarmez 05-19-2005, 07:27 PM Look the ropes a there for a reason to stop guys like john Running away from guys like Tua, sometimes they can save a fighter and other times..............Well ask John Ruiz,

Ruiz never ran or ducked nobody unlike all the bums in the division today. Or any division for that matter. Ruiz has more courage than anyone else in boxing today and that cant be disputed by anyone. He challenges everyone and ducks no one.
Ruiz was young as hell in that Tua fight. Look at the pics he looks like a college kid. Now he's experienced and wise and thats why he's the champ with best record in the hw division.

how does he have the best record in the division, he hsa 5 losses, Toney is 68-4, way better record than Ruiz, Vitali has 2 losses, he would kill Ruiz.
tonytucker 05-19-2005, 09:24 PM When Tua got that first left hook in, Ruiz fell back and the ropes held him up, I thought this would have counted as a knockdown...You are 100% correct. Bad ref in that fight. You are the only one that has got it right.
The rules are the rules people. It should be declared as a no contest.

you dont just go changing the official results of fights like that man, the ropes did not hold him up, everybody needs to stop with this "standing 8 count and rope knockdown ****" its rediculous, thats why there is professional boxing and amateur boxing. sounds like you would be more of a fan of amateur contests where they dont let anyone get hurt.
at least in the castillo one, castillo didn't actually go down. ruiz was murdered, plain n simple

5-1 title defenses, thats how.
How many HW title defenses Toney got? None thats how many. Ruiz best record in the div.
slavik18 05-19-2005, 11:07 PM God I would love to see Vitali demolish Ruiz's pathetic ass. No one but bums....oh I guess Lennox was just a bum. BTW Ruiz got beat by 2 middleweights, what a pathetic chump.
The Pretender 05-19-2005, 11:08 PM Hey goldfish poop, hate to break it to you but Vitali LOST against lennox. And go ahead and tell Vitali to quit ducking if he so tough. Ruiz been challenging EVERYONE in the div to unify for over a year.

jack_the_rippuh 05-19-2005, 11:33 PM When was the last time in heavyweight boxing history did a fighter get knocked out in the first minute of the fight, but went on to win a world title later on in their career?

Here we go again!!! :D
SnoopySmurf 05-19-2005, 11:42 PM John Ruiz is the suckiest heavyweight of all time.
Yarmez 05-19-2005, 11:46 PM I Give Ruiz Credit for standing up to antone who wants a go, but lets face facts.
When is the last time Ruiz has Dominated someone well and truly till he KO'ed them and Oquendo doesn't count, cause that was close till the KO.
It is time Ruiz fans realise, he might be a nice guy, but he has less than average skill, his speed is sub-par, his chin can get hurt, he is getting older, his power isn't the best and he has no thinking in the ring, jab-hug, jab-hug, jab-hug, jab-hug, sound familiar.
He is an over achiever and has been for a long time, and he has lady luck on his side sometimes.
good on him for doing what he did, but he is boring old slow and can't fight properly, maybe he should try MMA, where you are allowed to wrestle.
SnoopySmurf 05-19-2005, 11:48 PM What's with this "Oh he's a nice guy outside the ring!" BS I keep reading? I'm a boxing fan, not some tabloid fan. Ruiz is a cancer to boxing. He needs to go.

That's why I like Ruiz. He's a prodigy of the ring. Despite his inferior natural born boxing skills, he still manages to do quite well against those with better natural skill and talent than himself. Thats the david vs goliath underdog position. I like it when the underdog defeats the opposition when everyone bets against him.
And I find Ruiz fights exciting anyway. Because 90% of everyone rooting against him but I know he got a good chance to pull an upset one way or another.

I used to want to see Tyson get beat, but now I want to see him win because he is the underdog. I don't like seeing these stupid pictures of Ruiz that have been put in this thread showing him standing up in front of the ropes.....don't try that crap with me! You won't put the "real" picture of Ruiz straight after the left hook that clearly shows the ropes stopped him from going flat on his ass! LEFT HOOK BY TUA, NOW WATCH RUIZ SPRAWL INTO THE ROPES, NOW STOP RIGHT THERE....YOU DON'T WANT TO SHOW THAT PICTURE  THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A COUNT AT THIS POINT....THERE WAS NO COUNT! NO CONTEST!!!

The Pretender 05-20-2005, 12:09 PM Just another example that all fighters get robbed every now and then. Controversy and freak KOs, they happen.

I THINK I CAN WATCH THIS CLIP ALL DAY LONG...LOL
SnoopySmurf 05-20-2005, 01:31 PM Ruiz deserved every punch he took from Tua. In fact, I think Ruiz should be jailed for ruining heavyweight boxing.
