View Full Version : Whats the happiest and saddest moments you guys have had in boxing? MexicanBoxer 12-01-2004, 08:46 PM My happiest was when Barrera beat hamed and my saddest is either when oscar beat Both Chavez and Vargas or when Tyson lost 2 Lennox Lewis. Moon 12-01-2004, 09:09 PM Barrera whoppin' Hamed was beautiful work. Hamed was favoured 3 to 1 to defend, so it was nice to see the odds turned upside down. But, the real sweetness was that Hamed has not been seen since. I remain happy as a result. ChrististheAnswer 12-01-2004, 09:14 PM saddest moments- Lewis-Tyson Tyson-Williams Holyfield-Toney,and Donald Whitaker-Trinidad Happiest- Tyson-Holyfield 1(I felt better about Holyfield winning then I did about Tyson losing) Tyson-Berbick Tyson-Spinks Barrera-Hamed Kid Achilles 12-01-2004, 09:24 PM Happiest was Rahman KOing Lewis. My friend and I had both predicted it and at the moment it ocurred, Lewis seemed to be on his way to establishing himself the fight. I went totally nuts when he was counted out. I have never been so excited watching a boxing match. The saddest was watching Tyson looking pitiful and helpless against Lewis in the last few rounds of that fight. It was the one ocassion where I was rooting for Lewis (his arrogant attitude turned me off to him for the most part) because I thought that a Tyson defeat might cause him to finally retire. I did not predict that it would be quite so one sided and that Tyson would be THAT timid and passive in defeat. I am not a Tyson fan, but I felt that he deserved more than that for his final shot at the undisputed title. jack_the_rippuh 12-01-2004, 09:28 PM Happiest: Bernard Hopkins TKOing Tito Trinidad in 12 after completely shutting him out.. Saddest: Roy Jones Jr. getting stopped in the 2nd round by Antonio Tarver. spinksjinx 12-01-2004, 09:30 PM Meldrick Taylor ChrististheAnswer 12-01-2004, 09:31 PM Meldrick Taylor Yeah I forgot about him, he should be on my list too. Colonel Jones 12-01-2004, 11:16 PM Happiest: Roberto Duran knocking out Davey Moore. Holyfield regaining titles from Bowe and Tyson. Saddest moments: Seeing Alexis Arguello lay motionless against Pryor in the 14th round after such a galant performance. Also the saddest are all those guys that I use to idolize years ago, slurring their words today. grayfist 12-01-2004, 11:29 PM HAPPIEST: Learning that Ali was coming back from such an unjust suspension (for refusing to step forward for Nam). :D SADDEST: 1. Seeing the Ali of the past few years. :( 2. Seeing that Vander still refuses to hang 'em up. :( Edit: 3. Reading that Freddie Roach is afflicted with Parkinson's (page 28, Boxing 2003, August issue). psychopath 12-01-2004, 11:52 PM That's easy . . . . happiest is when Pac beats MAB for the people's Championship. Why? Because Pac has reached the highest recognition a compatriot has ever accomplished in the modern times of the sport. That despite me being a MAB fan too. The saddest would be when a strugling filipino pug died in the hospital after a boxing bout. Sir_Jose 12-01-2004, 11:58 PM The hapiest- Watching Lewis damn near kill Tyson, Watching Chavez KO Taylor. The Saddest- Last saturday night watching Morales drop the the desicion to MAB. Novirasputin 12-02-2004, 12:41 AM Happiest was when KT KDed Judah and i turned away from the TV to say to my dad "hey he definately won the round now" because i saw Judah was getting up as if it didn't phase him so i thought it would continue and then out of the corner of my eye i saw Judah stumble forward and fall face first, and i got up cause i could feel by the way he hit the canvas that they could stop it, and then i hear nady wave his hands and say fights over while motioning for the doctor to come into the ring, and KT just raises his hand and then looks over again as if he doesn't believe he has accomplished it, Man i was jumping around yelling at the top of my lungs. Best part was probably calling my brother and telling him because he was at work, and we had both been KT fans ever since we saw him versus chavez for the first time, and the words tumbling out of my mouth something to the tune of "Its over he KTFO in 2 rounds" and my brother was in shock too he was saying "NO way, unbelievable" Saddest would probably be when Jirov Toney decision was read. First off guys i won't make excuses Toney won, and he deserved it but i thought the scores were complete crap even Lederman had it draw after the KD and the point deduction, so when they read 117-111 i was like "ah to hell with this unless he would have KOed him he still would have lost no matter what he did" so in that sense the rightful victory for Toney (perhaps not in a point sense, but if you were a judge just objectively Toney held a KD over vasili so that tips the scale in his favor just a bit,) was spoiled by the what in my mind were pre filled out scored cards now maybe some people will say its cause im a deluded Jirov fan but hey i have never not acknowledged Toney won, but i always add that it wasn't a points win, just a man's thing which is probably more significant. Zab Super Judah 12-02-2004, 12:43 AM saddest day is when ever tyson loses......just feel bad for the guy everytime TheGreat1 12-02-2004, 12:52 AM happiest= George Foreman KOing Moorer worst= Holyfield's last 2 fights marvdave 12-02-2004, 02:37 AM happiest Hagler-Hearns DeLaHoya-Vargas (punk got what was coming) Holmes-Cooney sadest Holmes-Ali Camacho-Leonard Hagler-Leonard n14061981 12-02-2004, 04:22 AM Yeah foreman vs moorer was great! puppy_dogg 12-02-2004, 04:30 AM happiest= leonard's tko of hearns saddest= both of jones ko loses. its sad to see superman die :( leff 12-02-2004, 04:39 AM Saddest when the doctor stopped the LL-vk bout. Saddest moments - the Delahoya vs Trinidad decision, Golota vs Ruiz decision, Golota getting destroyed by Lewis, Wladimir getting destroyed by Sanders, The decline of Holyfield and him not coming to the realization that after the second Lewis fight that he should hang them up. scap 12-02-2004, 10:28 AM Happiest was Rahman KOing Lewis. Along the same lines the happiest I have ever been is when Rock knocked out LEwis. I came home from school one day and told all of my friends that HAsim Rahman had signed to fight Lewis and that we could get 20-1 if we jumped on it. No one knew who Rock was but I convinced a lot of people that he could win 3x's if given 20 opportunities against Lewis. So nearly four months in advance me and several friends...even some females put nearly 2K down on the fight combined. When LEwis was dropped the house erupted, my red bull and vodka was everywhere and we wne t to the bars that night with an adrenaline rush that I can't describe. I felt very proud because me and about 12 other individuals were going to be very rich the rest of the school year...party like a rock star. The other is when McCall clipped Lewis, I was pretty excited that night. Eman 12-02-2004, 01:49 PM Happiest=Trinidad KO vargas, Mosely-DLh 1 Saddest= Tyson losing to Lewis, Trinidad losing to Hopkins, Watching Ali now. ChrististheAnswer 12-02-2004, 11:18 PM I forgot to mention but is probably the saddest of all... Gerald Mccllean phallus 12-02-2004, 11:30 PM My saddest was seeing RJJ forced to lean back the second time, because i knew he was done. It depressed me for over a week, no other boxing match has ever depressed me that much. Happiest? i'll get back to you on that ... FrankJack 12-03-2004, 02:17 AM I was happy when the Lewis/Tyson fight happened. I had told peeps for like 2 years prior that Tyson isn't messin with Lewis and nobody believed me.
