JOHNNY NELSON - WBO Cruiserweight champion on Wright vs Hopkins

You couldn't help but be impressed by Ronald 'Winky' Wright's performance against Felix Trinidad in Las Vegas.

The American did everything correctly in the ring and made a great boxer like 'Tito' look pedestrian with basic boxing.

'Winky' is a guy who has boxed all over the world and, because of that, he knows what it is like to be up against the odds. He's been in tough situations before and has always come through them.

I believe it is things like that which make or break a fighter.

Going through a situation where your fighting away from home means you do all the work needed beforehand, you don't let up in the gym because there's no way you want to slip up.

I know Trinidad has announced his retirement after the unanimous points loss, but money talks in this business and I can see a re-match happening at some stage in the future.

The Puerto Rican has retired before only to return to action and, I believe, if he's offered the right package he'll fight Wright again because he will want to avenge the humiliating defeat he suffered at the MGM.

That second fight could be more dangerous for Wright as he may well relax in the same way he did against Shane Mosley the second time round.

The last thing you want to do is give a puncher a chance and his rematch with Mosley nearly saw him slip up after he was so dominating in their first bout.

One other option for 'Winky' could be a showdown with undisputed middleweight champion Bernard Hopkins, a fight I believe he would win.

I watched Hopkins against Howard Eastman and, although he was victorious, I thought you could see *****s in The Executioner's armour.

Hopkins has preserved himself for big fights and now he and Wright are in a situation where they can both make a lot of money by going toe-to-toe with each other

I agree with Johnny Nelson... I think Wright has the oppertunity of becoming a hall of famer by beating Hopkins! - And I don't think Wright will have too many problems doing it either!

Hopkins whoop Winky ass in the 2nd most boring fight ever. Hopkins running around the ring and Winky jabbing the air behind him. Let me reserve my pillow now.

LOL!... Yeah Hopkins would do the "scared of getting hit" running thing (as he always does these days)... And winky would be chassing him for 12 rounds with that ferocious jab... LOL!...

Wont Happen, Hopkins already said that he wont fight Wright as of yesterday. He said not enough money there and also he wants to fight winner of tarver johnson 2 for final career fight. Unless theres a big change Winky will have to fight Taylor.

I've still not got over wasting £15 ($25) on the Hopkins vs Eastman fight, put me off ever watching Hopkins again!

Kinda funny you'd agree with this fake-ass Ruiz fan, Martin. That's pretty pathetic. What's more boring than a Ruiz fight?

In any case, Hopkins is number one p4p, and has earned the right to fight however he wants at this old age.

Winky vs Hopkins will never happen though. After Taylor, Hopkins wants the Tarver-Johnson winner and that's all she wrote, folks.

REALLY!... Hopkins said that he won't fight Winky Wright?... WOW!...

I don't think he fancies being out-boxed... :dunno:

Mind you, if Hopkins DID sign to fight Winky Wright, I reckon everyone would be saying, "This is starting to get ridiculous! Hopkins fighting ANOTHER guy that has to come up in weight to challenge him? When's he gonna pick on someone his own size?"

LOL!... ;)

Yeah I know what you mean fella... I felt cheated out of £15 that night!

I thought I'd paid to watch a fight... :dunno: Instead all we got was watching a guy who looked terrified of getting hit for 45 minutes. :nono:
