This guy is a pretty darn good fighter and he is a true middleweight somebody who Taylor hasn't really fought yet. I know Taylor is supposed to be the heir to the middleweight crown but this seems a little extreme to me.

Raul Marquez was a "true" middleweight too. Joppy is used up, sad to say.

Well maybe, but 8-1, that is a little xtreme.

I don't think this fight will be as easy as people think.

Um..because he's a shot journeyman who was going to retire but HBO wanted a name guy for Taylor's next safe blowout?

Thats what everybody is saying but again, 8-1? Kali Meehan was a +375 against Rahman and that was a bigger mismatch on paper.

Meehan was fresh off what should have been a UD over Lamon Brewster. Joppy was last seen by the masses looking like a California Raisin after Hopkins was done with him.

Yeah but that was Bernard Hopkins, the man is in a league all his own.

Don't get me wrong I think that Taylor is a clear favorite to win this fight, but 8-1 seems a bit odd to me.

Do you think that warrants 8-1 odds.

That is exactly why the odds are 8-1. In addition to being used up, his defense is primarily designed around blocking punches with his face. Add the fact that Hopkins made him his ***** by delivering a brutal beating to him, and a loss seems imminent. Although, if I was betting, I would take those odds as I am not sold on Taylor.

I hope Joppy knocks him out...I'll bet on that Joppy by KO..30,000pts. any takers?

This is mind boggling. Joppy has beaten some nice fighters and is still a fairly dangerous "true" middle. Marquez was a natural 154 with no reach and no power. Joppy could still **** with Taylors nice ascension to the top if he comes ready to fight...8-1 dog is sick.

you shoudln't come back from beatings like joppy got. not against class opposistion.

if joppy wins, taylor is finished.

Joppy is a 3-time WBA middleweight champ and had a total of 8 successful defenses. Yeah, he got beat up lately but those were B-Hopkins and Trinidad. Taylor is not near anywhere these two fighters class, he's good and he's young, but I'm not sold on him yet. Joppy's got the experience and has pretty decent skills too, I won't be surprised if he beats Bad Intentions' ass.

I've said before if Joppy has anything left he can give Taylor a tough time and even beat him but I think Joppy is just about finished after Trinidad knocked him all around the ring and Hopkins rearranging his face. I still threw some points down on him at 7 to 1 in the fantasy betting forum though.

man, neils, that was well said... but 8 -1 is a little ridiculous for a hyped up guy who's been giving beatdowns to small jr middleweight club fighters. Joppy may be shot, but at least he HAD skills. "Bad Intentions" will win but i'll be surprised if he doesn't have trouble getting rid of Joppy - i mean these bull**** odds are the result of people overestimating Taylor, he ain't anywhere near Tito's skill level and he sure as **** ain't anywhere close to Bhop's. Because Taylor's management have kept him sheltered for so long, when he steps up against a guy who can hurt him he's gonna get slaughtered. It';s easy to have great jab when the other guy can't reach you, maybe Joppy doesn't have enough left in the tank but Taylor's goin down when he faces a quality opponent. Sorry guys, i just don't think Taylor's all that great, he's more like a Sloppy Joe Messy than Bernard Hopkins

I agree I can't see how people think he is ready for Hopkins or Tito.

The odds only reflects what the majority of the boxing betting public thinks . . . it is in no way an indication or have any bearing or what so ever on the might be outcome of the fight. It's just that there are so many people who thinks Taylor will beat JOP. That all in it. ;)

I'm interested in that . . . but what if Taylor doesn't get kayoed?

Let's just put it this way . . . can we raised it to 50? I'm for Taylor. If JOP wins by K.O. I'll pay you full, but if Taylor doesn't get K.O.ed even if Jops wins I'll pay you half (25). If Taylor wins irregardless how, you pay me full ;) Is that acceptable? :D

where are there 8-1 odds to bet on? im definately laying some $$$ on joppy at 8-1 underdog. those odds are ridiculous. he should be at most a 3-1 underdog against someone who to this date has only shown POTENTIAL to be great.

I'm not the only one that has noticed the long odds. Joppy has a great jab himself and Taylor isn't known for his combinations.

Regardless, those are very long odds, especially when you really consider both fighters and who've they fought.

That is why I always say that the money is made by betting on the underdog.

Joppy just sucked, that is all there is too it. He lost every round and was still showboating.
