this cameto me reading another thread.how do you condition your mind to toughen up?I watched wrestlers train and one said after a workout he jumped into a vat of ice cold water.this removed the lactic acid from his joints but interestingly it also mentally hardened him ie he knew it was going to be cold and if he could get over that it would condition his brain.Anyone any ideas?

well if its someone that you know is better and gunna beat you, i just think:
1) im not gunna die
2) im not a coward
3) ill get better from doing this
4) hell give me respect for not bitching out
5) fighting someone better is going to make it easier against people who arnt as good.

whats lactic acid?
After a session training, maybe after sleeping overnight, you might wake up stiff and tight.this is due to the build up of lactic acid in your joints.Iusually feel it worse if i havent trained for a few weeks and then go back.

If I could choose to die anywhere

It would be in the ring

I dont know why but it would be the coolest way to die

You will be rememembered for being a ring legend:D

It's not about how u were raised

It's about how hungry you are...lol...well everything that happens in your life affects u in some way or another so you're right lol

but if you really want somethin, that's what makes you have heart, where you're willing to do anything to win...

All very valid points people, but what Im looking for is tips/drills that a coach has given you, stuff you mightent be aware of at the time.Something to get you to go that extra mile.maybe something like if youre exhausted and he gets you to do another extra exercise, something to push you past your limits, that sort of thing.

i think everybody has their own thing they think about to push themselve. ive never really had a problem with fear in the ring; however, i have gotten to the point where i cant think of anything besides how tired i am. i found that conditioning and practice will beat that by a: allowing you to think clearly when youre exhausted and b: giving you confidence. sometimes, tho, you just gotta fall back on your instincts and stop thinking altogether.

Basically, I just push myself until I can't push myeself any longer, if you want to get mentally tough, do sparing, this will help you learn to not become afraid of being hit, if you want to be a boxer then you should be mentally and physically strong. Sparing, working out and pushing yourself is going to make you mentally stronger and physically, since those are the foundations of becoming a good boxer, skills, technique and mental toughness.

A trainer can't teach you to become mentally stronger, he can guide you, but he can't make you since its up to you. Good luck and hope you get stronger :)
