View Full Version : Star Wars 3: Revenge of the Sith
oldgringo 05-19-2005, 03:22 AM I saw the midnight screening tonight (Wed. night) and it was definitely a sweet movie in my opinion. I like the Star Wars movie s and have seen them all now but some of the people in that theater were just ****ing crazy (full jedi costumes with light sabers etc...). Anyway, I don't want this to really be a discussion thread about the movie because that could potentially ruin it for other people and I'd have to bother with spoilers and all of that junk. But if you are at all a fan of Star Wars and you want to see a movie thats worthy of being seen in a theater then you should spend the 8-10 dollars on a ticket and go see this ****.
Shaolin Bushido 05-19-2005, 03:59 AM What city you in? I'm in Charlotte and I'll catch the first showing tomorrow.
Good news, it's not a disappointment like a coupla the others.
Manny_P 05-19-2005, 07:54 AM Yep. Go see this movie peeps. hehehehehe!
TheFairPole 05-19-2005, 08:14 AM I saw the 3a.m. showing with my girlfriend and even she liked it! It was awesome! Definately go see it! It is action packed throughout the whole movie and it is definately not a let down! The people clapping in the theatre is kind of gay, but it was cool. I might go see it again later today with my little bro. Man, I feel like a little kid again... :D

....My brother in Virginia went and saw it last night at midnight too. I'm yet to get a report but I know he is gonna say it was awesome just like your report.
guardian 05-19-2005, 09:17 AM I plan to wait for it on DVD... but what the heck... I will watch it tommorow
Chups 05-19-2005, 04:49 PM I'll watch it on Monday. :(
You should see the lines at the movies 17 near my house. Damn.
The Troll 05-19-2005, 04:55 PM I saw it today it is definitely alot better than the last 2 films . It is way way better than Episode 1 and II. This movie is almost as good as Empire Strikes Back, maybe equal to Star Wars (1977) or a little better.
Empire Strikes Back
Star Wars Episode III
Star Wars
Return of the Jedi
Episode II
Episode I
oldgringo 05-19-2005, 05:01 PM I saw it today it is definitely alot better than the last 2 films . I only wish they went a little farther with the ending. But it is way way better than Episode 1 and II. This movie is almost as good as Empire Strikes Back, maybe equal to Star Wars (1977) or a little better. I though Episode I was a disgrace and episode II was not tht great either, but an improvement at least from Episode I.
Empire Strikes Back
Star Wars Episode III
Star Wars
Return of the Jedi
Episode II
Episode I
I liked episode 1 and thought that the final sequence was one of the better sequences in movie history (the battle of Naboo and especially the Darth Maul fight). Why was it so bad for you
I thought episode 2 was by far the worst and even though you get to see yoda fight it was still a lame transitional movie. Empire Strikes Back was what it should have been but it failed miserably. I liked ROTJ most, followed by this one and ESB, then ANH and ep1, then ep2
The Troll 05-19-2005, 05:24 PM There is alot of things I really like about this movie but I wont say what because I dont want to ruin it for anybody.
oldgringo 05-19-2005, 05:33 PM There is alot of things I really like about this movie but I wont say what because I dont want to ruin it for anybody.
Why didnt you like episode 1?
The Troll 05-19-2005, 05:38 PM Why didnt you like episode 1?
I thought it was geared more toward a younger audience and in general I thought it lacked drama. And the main character being a little kid was kinda lame. The speeder race and all that **** was boring to me, and almost the whole movie takes place in the same setting basically and there is not storm troopers. There is no good battles or anything, except those robots vs those wierd creatures. The light sabre battle in the end is neat but there is no drama associate with it like for instance the light saber battle between Luke and Vader in Empire Strikes Back or Return of the Jedi. Plus some of the characters in the movie were annoying and Samuel L Jackson hardly had any role in that movie. Nor did Yoda. In General there was not alot of depth to it and the soundtrack was crap compared for instance to Empire Strikes Back.
The Troll 05-19-2005, 05:40 PM My favorite PC game ever was "tie fighter" came out in 1994. It was a great game, way ahead of its time, still fun to play today. I liked how some of the vehicles in that game were in this movie. Like the Escort Shuttle, and the Dreadnaught.
The Fix 05-19-2005, 11:12 PM hey nerds, where are your calculators? :D
j/k for those who take offense
YoungTurk 05-19-2005, 11:48 PM I saw the movie at a late screening. You must watch this in a THX theatre. I had the opportunity of doing so. It was a very good movie. I wish they would have some more of these movies.
I liked all the Star Wars movies. Episodes 1 and 2 were not bad movies. I liked the race in Episode 1. It was the only time I've actually enjoyed anything related to racing. There were some good light sword battles in both movies. Much better than in the first three films, which is no surprise. The only thing I'm not crazy about is Yodo fighting. That gets lame to me.
Jar Jar was nowhere near as annoying to me as were those damn Ewoks. I couldn't stand those ugly Teddy Bear rejects. That was a useless and terrible idea.
guardian 05-19-2005, 11:53 PM Jar Jar and the ewoks doesnt bother me at all... every character in that series played every roles just fine.
Im still planning to wait for it on DVD to complete the series but I will have to watch it already in theaters beacause of chatting about it... hehehe
msocearnaigh 05-20-2005, 04:28 AM Im way out of synch with most of you out there.I went last night and came away a little disappointed.I expected a lot more from the duel scenes and, bar the last one, the rest were a let down.ah well each to his own.
the_roo 05-20-2005, 05:06 AM i went to the midnite showing
it was BADASS
go see it
oh and the battles and soundtrack were awesome i don't know why anyone would complain...
masterdirector 05-20-2005, 07:02 AM I thought the film was pretty damn good. I saw it at a THX cinema too. This theater had actually shut down a few years ago, but re-opened specifically to show Star Wars Episode 3. Now it'll stay open for other stuff but yeah.
I really enjoyed the film, but the audience really pissed the **** out of me. What is with *******s who get up during the middle of a ****ing movie? Learn some ****ing self-control! That **** just pisses the **** out of me. And what is even more annoying is these ****** ***** whipped guys that have to get up and go with their girlfriend to the restroom. WHAT THE ****?! You're going to miss part of the movie because the ***** sort of has to piss? Let her go. You shouldn't have to suffer. See? That's what "love" does for you.
And *******s who scream out "funny" **** during a movie should be shot and knife-****ed in the face repeatedly. Some jackass during this film screamed out something gay during the film and some idiots actually laughed.
I swear, once I'm an actual big time director, I'm going to make it ****ing law that nobody can walk into the theater once my film has started. They can go out, but they won't be allowed back in and their money will not be ****ing refunded. If they wish to see the rest of the movie, which they will because it'll be so ****ing awesome, they'll have to buy another ticket, which everyone will anyhow cause they'll have to see my movies like 10 times each.
Oh, surprisingly nobody had a cellphone go off. I was surprised at this.
I went with my nerdy friend who loves all this star wars ****. I got him to stand in line at 9:30 until 11:00 to get good seats. He'd already bought tickets on Monday. He stood in line and got good seats while I stayed at home watching Episodes 1 & 2 and the Clone Wars before going in. I sort of needed to catch up on the story. Saturday or Sunday I'd started watching the first 3 Star Wars movies.
If you can, try watching the animated Clone Wars before watching Episode 3. It does help because it ends where Episode 3 picks up. There is a significant gap of a few years between Episode 2 and 3, which the Clone Wars clears up for you. I don't know if all the Clone Wars are available on DVD or not. I know some are, there are 20 five minute episodes I think (or 25 five minute episodes) and then there are 5 fifteen minute episodes. Definitely worth watching.
Okay I'm done, for now.

...Clone wars is suprisingly good!!! Alot of subtle **** in their that is really neat to pick up on. It may be a cartoon but it's well written **** for sure. I have it on tape and my son andIhave watched it more than a few times.
olympic boy 05-20-2005, 10:35 AM i saw it last nite amigos!!!!!awesome!!!!!!
it's just sad to see 2 best friends fight each other to death for what they think is right!!!!! :boxing:
YoungTurk 05-20-2005, 10:48 AM PBDS I do not understand why you gave me bad karma. I gave you good karma. Did I say something to anger you?
I found this Clone Wars volume 1 on DVD. Are there more volumes that will be released or not? I would like to get them all of course.

....A misunderstanding brother. I thought your Karma was bad since it was grey and in your comments you disagreed with my post. Can you see why I mistook your good for bad when I couldn't tell? I will make it up to you though with some points and good K when I can hit ya up. Sorry again!!!!

I hate those douchebags that scream **** out like they're funny too. For example, the theater manager came around to all of the auditoriums to tell everyone to shut off cell phones, to not use lightsabers, and to generally just stay quiet during the movie. Some fat **** loser screams out, "WHAT ABOUT USING THE FORCE!?!?!" after hes done and half the theater bursts out into laughter. I was stumped and figured that it must have been because this guy was such an assclown and was dressed in a full jedi outfit but i got the sneaking suspicion that they laughed because they thought he was funny. It made me mad for people everywhere.

Thats not fair to everyone OG. Why cant people yell out:
"Who Da Jedi!" or even
"Who's your Yoda now!"

I dunno, you could just tell this guy was trying too hard and was such an asspirate. Maybe something different would have been funny from someone else but this guy just sucked at life.

masterdirector 05-20-2005, 12:50 PM I hate those douchebags that scream **** out like they're funny too. That alone makes me want to start punching people in the face repeatedly. Uggggh. Who the hell actually thinks such crap is funny? See I don't even consider myself a full-fledged fan cause I don't know a ton about star wars. I know what I've seen from watching the movies and that clone wars stuff, but I don't know all this detailed stuff that the really dedicated geek ass fans like my friend know.
However, I had the respect for those obsessed nerdy geek ass fans to not be an ass whatsoever during that entire screening. Well, I take that back. I did call this one idiot a *** when he hit my seat from behind when he got up to go to the restroom. And I casually said "You're gay" to these frat boy punks who were parked next to me. When they got out of their VAN, one looked at me and screamed "STAR WARS!! WHOOOOOOO!"
I actually didn't see many dressed up in Star Wars crap. A couple kids were. I only saw one light saber in the whole theatre. A lot of people had T-shirts and my friend had a Star Wars hat, but nothing too outrageous. I had on my Mike Tyson t-shirt. I try to wear boxing shirts when in public, support the sport.
Most of the dressed up people went to other theatres that had already been opened prior to Monday. The theatre I went to, the only THX theatre in my state, didn't even announce that it'd be opening until Monday. All the losers who got their tickets mega early at other theatres were pissed.
For those that don't know, George Lucas, Star Wars' creator/director, also created THX sound for the Star Wars films specifically. The theatre I saw the movie in was designed with specifications for the Star Wars movies. Like, that's the whole reason those theatres existed in the first place. This particular theatre opened in my state as the first THX theatre here back for the re-release of the original Star Wars movies. For some reason, it closed shortly after Episode 2 came out. There were like 5 big movie theatres in my city, which was just way too many for my town. Then, this huge theatre, the Hollywood 20, which holds 20 movies, came in. All the other theatres closed, dropped off like flies. It was about a year until we just fairly recently got a 2nd theatre. Now, we've a third theatre. And I'm so glad its the THX theatre. It is where I'll be seeing all the movies I want to watch this summer.
masterdirector 05-20-2005, 12:54 PM Thanks for ruining one of the mysteries for everybody.
You're joking, right? Umm...is it really a mystery at all? It SHOULD have been very obvious. I don't think he spoiled anything for anybody.
Would I be spoiling anything by saying all the jedis die too? I mean, its damn obvious. Its like saying the Titantic sinks at the end and someone saying "Hey, you spoiled it!" lol.
....Just saw it with my son and it was great!!!! He was a little pissed at certain parts but then again he is only four and I guess it can be confusing. Other than that he loved it.
Dyl-G 05-21-2005, 03:52 AM dude it wasnt that good, it seemed they had to cram everything in and there was still cheesieness to it with all the one liners. all the transformation going to the darkside ad the clones changing and the ships happened in like 15 min. the action was slow and it was like over the top drama to where they were using the god awful one liners. the movie is a rental.

norbak1258 05-25-2005, 03:52 PM My only beef with the movie is that I think they rushed anakin into the dark site, they should have done a bit more backround on him. Other than that i tought it was a decent movie.
marvdave 05-25-2005, 04:27 PM saw the movie and loved it. Is there a more annoying movie character ever than that whiney Annakin? Maybe it's the actor, but that little ***** bugged me. I was glad when he got his.

haha yeah dude exactly it only took like 3 confrontations with darth sidius and he was turned to the darkside, but i thought he had been following the jedi code like all his life and he had been training all his life to kill him and its all simple and quick, also the ships change really fast and the clothing, anakin was like the worst actor ever i didnt think natalie portman was good either. and it was super cheesy how darth sidius kept changing his voice every 5 syllables, that was super gay. but it was funny as hell when obi wan and darth vader are about to fight and annakin looks over natalie portmans shoulder and obi wan is standing on the top of the ramp like a model with his robe perfectly even and his hair combed all nice like he was posing for a picture. also at the end when darth vader finds out that natalie portman dies and he walks forward all slow like, :oh-oh-oh....NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!" that was funny ****
Shaolin Bushido 05-25-2005, 06:24 PM It was a very good movie ... but of course that is up to each of our individual tastes in movies.
IMO, the best of the series.
The Troll 05-25-2005, 06:29 PM The thing I liked about this movie the most was the way they picked for Darth Vader to be mangled. I wish there was somehow a follow up movie to this where we can see the Empire in its prime against the begginning of the Rebellion. And bring Obi One Ewan McGregor back into the film. But I guess that is an impossiblity.
But they are going to have keep making prequils and sequels as long as these movies make as much money as they do. Most Likely we would see Episode VII, it would be better than anything if they brought back Mark Hamil as Luke Skywalker and Harrison Ford back as Hahn Solo and Carrie Fisher back as Princess Leiha for Episode VII. I dont see any reason why they should not.
Harrison Ford is still in his prime and he was the driving force of the original III films. The plot is simple the war between the Rebellion and Empire continues just the Empire assumes new Leadership. Just because the Deathstar was destroyed the Entire Imperial Fleet and Army are still out there.
.::|ULTIMATE|::. 05-25-2005, 06:30 PM I was falling asleep, but frankly i had drunk a few beers hour before or so. But i didnt really enjoy it.
The Fix 05-25-2005, 06:33 PM the movie was a giant piece of ass, the worst ive seen this year. from the cheesy lines to the gay plot the movie was all in all a big waste of time and money
Shaolin Bushido 05-25-2005, 06:39 PM For anyone interested, there are entire series of novels out there that totally are in line with the events of the movies that both pre date and ante date the movies.
They're just as plausible and consistent in nearly every way.

And they have to bring John Williams back as well to do the soundtrack. But they dont put the effort into the films these days as they did in the past. People dont go to the movie theatre like they used to for a production like this: John Williams, Harrison Ford, the Millenium Falcon.
LuKahnLi 05-25-2005, 09:56 PM I think George Lucas deliberately made Episode I & II suck so bad so that Revenge of The Sith would look like ****ing Casablanca!!!
masterdirector 05-25-2005, 10:37 PM saw the movie and loved it. Is there a more annoying movie character ever than that whiney Annakin? Maybe it's the actor, but that little ***** bugged me. I was glad when he got his.
I personally found whiney Luke much more annoying.
Yeah, I'll agree that the movie does have its parts that are too "talkie." But all Star Wars movies are that way in my opinion.
I thought Portman's performance was good enough. Anakin, yeah I wouldn't have picked that guy to be Anakin in the first place. Given that, I expected much worse, so I don't mind Anakin either. Beats the hell out of Heath Ledger, who would have probably got the role if this guy didn't. Ryan Phillippe could've made a decent Anakin. You hate Hayden Christiansan's whiney Anakin though...lol...Phillippe would bury him.
*POSSIBLE SPOILERS BELOW!!* CAUTION! DON'T ***** AT ME IF YOU READ IT AND DIDN"T SEE THE MOVIE LIKE A DUMB *****
Probably my biggest problems with the film were:
-Darth Sithface's electricity **** powers. WTF? That was pretty lame. He zaps you with lightining fingers? I thought Sam Jackson said he didn't go down like a *****.
-not enough about General Grievous. He was a big marketing part of the movie, so people expected more from him. It was too critical to see the Clone Wars episodes to understand anything about him. Just watching from Episode 2 to Episode 3, like most people, you'd miss all his backstory.
-like others said, Anakin seemingly turns to the dark side quickly. Anakin decides in about 20 minutes what it took Luke 3 f'n films to decide.
I thought the movie would have a stronger focus on Anakin turning to the dark side. And they did need to, in all the Star Wars movies where it was mentioned, do away with that "from so-and-so's point of view, it is good/evil." No ****, I think the audience will get it. Count Dooku made his appealing argument in Episode 2, we didn't need this "point of view" crap talked about.
I like the Star Wars movies, but they're definitely not flawless.
George Lucas is a tad bit overrated I'd say. He was brilliant as hell to make sure he got licenses to all his **** though. He's got to be a billionaire. If he isn't, it is his own fault.
i m sure PBDS and SONNY are thinking senator palpatine is french
masterdirector 05-26-2005, 03:15 AM I say he's Texan. After all, he controls the Senate. Cheney is Darth Vader, mostly machine.
Shaolin Bushido 05-26-2005, 03:27 AM No. Emperor Palpatine is Darth Dubya in reality. God, I wish someone would photoshop a pic of that ****in Edward E Neuman lookalike onto the emperor's body!
Of the two, I hate dubya more than the Emperor. I mean, it's ludicrous for anyone to follow that clown but he's got a whole country fooled.
How the hell does that ***** have any leadership qualities? He's a prissy little rich boy who's gotten everything he has by virtue of his ****in dad ... is that what passes for impressive these days?
****! :dunce:
masterdirector 05-26-2005, 03:32 AM Shaolin, I was saying Bush is Palpatine (hence He's Texan), and Cheney is Darth Vader (hence the machine stuff). Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know much about politics.
Actually Daddy Bush might be the real Emperor Palpatine.
But, it all begs the question, where is our real life Luke? Making out with his sister?
I say he's Texan. After all, he controls the Senate. Cheney is Darth Vader, mostly machine.
obviously he is W bush , most of what he says is close to W bush doctrine.
I'll wait for it to come out on DVD.....
masterdirector 05-26-2005, 06:09 AM ha, you won't really experience it. Should at least see it once on the big screen, THX if you can. I'm a bit spoiled now. might go see it again, more just to be in such a badass theater than anything. That screen was at least a 60 foot screen. I want to go to a daytime screening with a lot less people there. Gotta do it before kids get out for school here, so I only got a few more days.
I havnt seen the first 2 movies, so this one would be pointless. I'm gonna wait till they are all out on DVD, make a day of watching them all.....
masterdirector 05-26-2005, 07:04 AM ah, but see that's no problem b/c it had been 10 years since I'd watched the original 3 star wars and I watched the first two Episodes at the theatre just once. So what I did was watch the original three, then Ep 1 & Ep 2, then Clone Wars Volume 1, then some bootleg Clone Wars Vol.2 which leaves you exactly where Ep 3 picks up.
Pick that stuff up and you'll be fine. And you can rent all that except the Clone Wars Volume 2, since the dumb****s didn't release it yet. Can probably use a Bittorrent program if you're so ambitious.
marvdave 05-26-2005, 08:17 AM Shaolin, I was saying Bush is Palpatine (hence He's Texan), and Cheney is Darth Vader (hence the machine stuff). Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know much about politics.

Princess Jolie?
to your earlier point about whiney Luke being worse that Annakin. Thats funny becuase as I thought about how much the character in III bugged me, I remembered how Luke was the same way. Maybe Lucas purposly cast another annoying guy to play Annakin becuase he was whiney too? (just like dear old dad :D )Maybe he also didn't want to likeable a character in that role. Wanted people to not like him while building up the switch to Vader. What a great last 30 minutes of the movie. Thought they did a great job showing the final moments of Annakin Skywalker.
I really did enjoy the movie. I am a Star Wars geek so guess so I might be biased. I just wish Natalie Portman had a nude scene.

what is Clone Wars..
masterdirector 05-26-2005, 09:53 AM Clone Wars is an official animated thing that you can get on DVD. Basically it fills the very large void between Episode 2 and Episode 3.
Check IMDB.com or Amazon.com for more info
Yeah actually Lucas made Hayden boy be whiney. He said that he wanted to be darker but Lucas wouldn't let him. And being a director, I can tell you, actors are like sheep. You must make them do what you tell them. Anyhow, it made sense for Anakin to be whiney at first for the very reason you said, I don't think it was an accident.
I've seen the guy who plays Anakin on talk shows and he's not nearly as annoying as you'd expect.
I guess its sort of a Brad Pitt thing. I used to f'n hate Brad Pitt, even the mention of his name just made me want to smash people in the face. Now I actually like him for the most part. How can't you love Snatch?

thanks..I'll check it out...and yes, I LOVE snatch (the movie too)
Brad Pitt is an underrated actor imo. The pretty boy thing clouds peoples judgement. He was great in a movie called "Kalifornia" also "Fight Club"
masterdirector 05-26-2005, 10:39 AM Gary Cole (guy in my Avatar) is also highly underrated. He played Lumberg, Mike Brady, and one of the best villains ever, Sheriff Lucas Buck. And I think he played the drunk vagrant hobo-turned lawyer in Gang Related. All that within like a 4 year period.
