Mike Tyson with his head movement in his prime was unhittable. (Or is it because his opponents were scared of the counter that came back when you tried to hit him?) Orlando Canizales can parry punches like the best of em. Wilfred Benitez is another who comes to mind. Who else?

Carlos monzon had a solid defence, Chris Eubank had a underrated defence, also Johnny Nelson had good defence and is a very under rated fighter.

Jeff Fenech was not a defensive wizard but was very hard to hit with a clean punch or put a combination together on, especially on the inside. Henry Armstrong was very hard to hit when he was coming in low and working his way inside as was Julio Cesar Chavez, but both men were very susceptible to take punches when on the inside but they picked off punches and slipped effectively on the outside. Glen Johnson has a very unorthodox yet effective defense.

When I think of fighters whose defense were their main trade but don't seem to get much credit, the two that come to mind first and foremost are Ayub Kalule and Hilario Zapata. Kalule is especially underrated in this department because most people never saw him fight in his prime.

I agree. Both are looked at as face first sluggers by many people, which is pretty far from the truth.
