View Full Version : Who is to blame for Sonsona's lost ?
jimmy webb 02-28-2010, 12:48 PM I personally blame his overrated coach, Donaire Sr, his manager, and his promoter !!
Are y'all even aware that on fight night, Vasquez Jr, came in to the ring at a whopping 140lbs !! I'm not saying that Vasquez Jr would not have beaten him w/o that sizeable weight advantage.
But, they should not have taken this fight !!
sikwatee 02-28-2010, 01:21 PM I wasn't really following his recent fights but reports coming out of training camp showed proved to me he didn't take this fight seriously. Boxing is a no-no for people who lack discipline. That's why I didn't put a single bet on this fight.
He might improve someday, Pac has been KO'd twice before but he took every fight seriously and look where he is now.
jimmy webb 02-28-2010, 01:32 PM Key matchmaking is crucial in a young fighter's pro career. W-L column does not tell the whole story between two fighters. In this case, Sonsona and Vasquez Jr were nearly identical with their pro ring experience.
Personally, I wasn't really sold on Marvin to begin with. But, after seeing the size difference and the fact that the commentators mentioned that Vasquez blew up to 140lbs, that's just ridiculous.
I wonder what Donaire Sr , manager or promoter see in Sonsona or not see in Vasquez Jr that made 'em think this was a good matchup for them
Sonsona is the one to blame he looks scared at the weigh-in and still scared fighting Vasquez Jr. if he only box and just give it a try maybe we can give him some credit even if he loose but he didnt takot na takot yung bata. iba pa mka tingin sa abs ni Vasquez Jr. si Marvin...whahahaha
vErDuGo 02-28-2010, 01:56 PM His f*ckin promoter/manager!
tarantado yon!

PrtyBoyDlicious 02-28-2010, 03:09 PM The fight is fixed!....Damn! You guys are so naive...:D
Vegas wins with the fight ending under 8.5 rounds. Marvin was made a sacrificial lamb...fuking bull****! The kid has huge potential but his handlers are ruining his young boxing career....
BOLLOCKS 02-28-2010, 03:09 PM Himself....
Akyra 02-28-2010, 07:42 PM i feel bad for sonsona, the guy lost to an inferior fighter. just rewatched the fight and sonsona had the superior technique and was the better all around fighter.
his BIG mistake was doing the pacquiao trick of standing in the same place as to psyche the opponent out that his punches are not hurting him. i can swear he picked that up from watching pac in the cotto fight.. feel bad for the guy man. i see the kid blossoming into a great fighter though.. he'll be a more dangerous/better fighter after this one. if he learns from his mistakes he'll become an amazing fighter, he has all the tools to do so. hopefully there's a rematch because that was lucky moment there for vazquez.
dYeyKob 02-28-2010, 08:47 PM halatang takot sya kay Vasquez..ibang-iba dun sa pinakita nya sa laban nya kay Lopez...the weigh-in really ****ed his head up...
tanibanana 02-28-2010, 08:50 PM 50% - Sonsona (lack of discipline)
30% - Donaire Sr. (poor gameplan)
20% - Management (pushed him too early)

I see it like this...
50 % management(same reason as yours)
50% Donaire Sr(he should know his fighters better than anybody else)
Sonsona could've had his best training camp ever, but, he was simply not ready for that weightclass against that level of an opponent, perhaps he could've put up a better fight and lasted longer, but that was a huge msimatch in size alone. It's his trainer's job to know those things.
Akinapepemo 03-01-2010, 01:35 PM I don't know, i need to see how he comes back from a bad loss before i start pointing fingers at Marvin, be it his mental toughness or overall quality as a boxer.
I do agree that his handlers should have at least assessed this match-up before agreeing to take it. Of course the kid would be confident, coming into this fight without a loss, so it was up to his handlers to see his flaws and whether he can hang with Vazquez Jr.
Vasquez beat him, and beat him bad, that's about it.
PAKYO 03-02-2010, 08:36 AM Siguro maging humble na yan ngayon. Biglang yumabang nung maging champion kasi.
Hope he will take this as a hard earned lesson.
