Hey guys,

For those of you who watch the Contender what do you think of Alfonso Gomez!!! He is the smallest guy there and did well.. If his conditioning was better he would have beaten Manfredo again.. I think this kid has alot of potential to go places.. What say you?

Difficult to tell with the editted rounds. If he has a tendancy to swell, like he did after 7 rounds, he might not be able to go the distance without loosing vision in both eyes.

Alfonso got a good attitude but he's too soft and a fattie. Needs to tone up and do some Tae-bo or something.

Ah slavik18, my personal goldfish poop. See, goldfish always have this problem pinching off their feces so it tends to trail around behind them everywhere they go. That's you. My own personal poop I didn't pinch off.

Simply place his ass on ignore. Really the only way I can see what he types...is when someone quotes what he says. That or his response is simeultaneously timed with the response of another troll.

Yeah Ishe Smith was the best. But Gomez is really good and tough, with skills he kinda reminds me of morales though. Even though he has good boxing skills, when hit he prefers to start brawling. what wieght class do you think he would be best suited for?

I heard he walk around at about 155.. So with proper training maybe 140.. Who knows, since hes not in the best shape if he squeezes weight off of himself maybe even 135 is a possibility.. Id say there!!

The reason why he got swollen so fast was because he only had like 4 days to a week to rest from his previouse fight. Look at MAnfredos eyes and alfonso's, they both had black eyes from their previouse fights. If they had a good amount of time to rest and regenerate im sure he would have done alot better.

I do think he has a career, he's the type of fightr that fans would want to see b/c of his style. We can't really tell all that much b/c of the edits but i think he would continue to do well.

Gomez should fight at a lower weight.

They edit a lot on the show. From what I've seen the guy seems to be an offensive tactician. He appears to be able to throw combinations from multiple angles. He mixes up his punches well. Hard to tell about his defensive skills but what I saw seemed OK. I have to agree that he may have a stamina problem, but we never got to see a whole round to get an accurate judgment on how much energy he is expending per round. It may be that he's not pacing himself.

In all I thought he was one of the better fighters and without question one of the most humble and classy.

Thats true. Gomez was smallest fighter of them all so it wasn't really fair. He did pretty good for being the underdog and definately had heart in that rematch with Manfredo. Just needs to work on stamina.

a great fighter with a big heart and the right attitude.

with some proper conditioning, i think he can be a real contender.

i agree with this... ahmed said alfonso did not have any power but almost knocked kaddour out... if alfonso gets in better shape and trims down the his fats, then he should qualify for a lower class wherein his power could be a lot more...

I feel bad that he had to fight Manfredo again, after he already beat him once and sent him home, he landed some big shots in their 2nd fight, and looked to be a good fighter. I think he has a future in boxing.

You're right thats why the show is a bunch of bull**** and isnt having another season!!I felt really bad for Gomez.. Great, great kid.. That was unjust.. Peter Manfredo is a joke.. Ive heard he is a world ranked middleweight.. I think Gomez has a better style for the pros, and I like the fact that he has fought the best out there , not padded his record fighting bums..

yeah, I agree. I'm getting sick of watching Manfredo get pounded for rounds while his wife is yelling "C'MON PETER!!" it's very annoying, and it's **** that Gomez lost to him, when he already destroyed him their first fight, I hope this guy has a good future in boxing, and from the way he fights, it looks like he will.

Yeah Peter is WAY overrated. I don't like his poor stance and posture in the ring. Plus he gets discouraged if his daddy isn't watching. And man all those spectator shots with everyone shadow boxing as if they were in the ring is embarrassing. I mean there are grandmas and little girls throwing hooks and jabs.

I agree. The kid seems to have a great attitude and a lot of potential. I'd also say he could lose some weight and move down but part of the reason for the stamina concern is that the ring men were aweful. "You got to get busy, keep punching, attack, attack, attack!!!" This might make for better tv but is not very sound advice coming from your corner man. For example, when Jesse ko'd Balisante or what ever his name was, Balisante had won at least 3 and maybe 4 of the first 4 rounds. But instead of telling him the fight was his and just play it safe and stay away from Jesse, the corner guy tells him he really needs the round and to really mix it up.

About Peter, I agree. If he wins the million bucks it will be an embarrassment. The guy lost the very first fight nad shouldn't even be there. I think "the snake" will win it all.

i want mora to win it all, he seems the best fighter in the series, although i also was impressed by najai turpin (R.I.P.). too bad losing to mora was the end for him, i like fighters who throw a lot of punches. im in the uk so we a few episodes behind so thanks for allowing me to win bets on who wins. joey gilbert has heart as he fought through pain in both fights.

I hope Sergio wins but he needs to go lift some weights. He has arms like a girl. A lot of these guys do actually.
