hopefully the 10mil he got helps him cope. But the fact that he shows his emotion like that shows passion real fans respect.

If all the boxers that ever lost retired there would be no boxing. Why, after every loss does Tito retire? Sounds like either he doesn't like losing or is a sore loser.

Im surprised he isnt wearing a neck brace, I was sure all those solid jabs would of gave him a bad case of whiplash.
He will be back its just a PR phase he is going through. :D

it is called passion people...if you want fighters who don't have a passion for the sport, then go nuthug Ricardo Williams and Domminick Guinn...

I am sure the retiring has more to do with the losses being very emotional...remember guys, this is his life! fighting is the lives of these men...this is not some hobby they do on the side...this is not them taking piano lessons on the side of their careers and social lives...this is life for them...a dominating loss to a Boxer has an effect on them...just like if a Doctor loses a patient...this is their life...

if you don't understand what passion for something is, then hopefully you will find out sometime down the line...

He's just a little crybaby *****!! He's crying because he's questioning his own manhood!! Real men avenge loses and try again..I'd have more respect if he tried again. Shane Mosley at least can look himself in the mirror. At least he TRIED again to beat Winky!! If Tito thought he could win hed fight again. He knows he's inferior. If he was a humble, gracious man I'd accept his crying as sincere.. He is crying for the wrong reason here. He's ashamed at himself. After all when you say you're going to "kill" somebody and then they embaress you rather easily it's gotta make you feel like **** inside. Have a nice life Tito, you obviously couldnt hang with two seasoned, street-smart American fighters!!

I respect Tito alot and was sorry to see him lose but on the other had i wasn't shocked when Winky won. Winky is and always has been a good fighter but NEVER given the true respect he really deserves.

BTW Tito crying shows you how much the sport means to him, quite refreshing to see.

I wish the guy health and happiness too.. I just think as a proud man that he probably wont be as happy as he could be unless he avenged his loss to Winky.. He may regret later on in life that he didnt even try!!

I show respect to those who deserve it.. Tito threatens to kill fighters.. Do you think I'm making up that quote about Tito saying he'd drop Hopkins just like the Towers fell? Does that sound like PR to you.. I cant respect someone who says those horrible things!!

I have never heard that quote and if it is true, indeed I would like to read it.

I cant imagine Tito saying that especially since he was at ground zero helping out anyways.

Besides people say crazy things to hype up a fight. Do you respect Hopkins for what he did in Puerto Rico?

You act like Tito is a bum and has never accomplished anything.

I dont care what it is. I'm a NYer and 3,000 people died that day, my friend was one of them... There are some things you don't joke about or "publicize".. I can respect Cotto and I do.. Tito never!!

No Hopkins wasnt right to do that and I dont condone his actions.. But I believe Hopkins is smart enough to never make fun of an incident that God forbid involved the death of 3,000 Puerto Ricans.. But then again he is smarter than Tito.. Maybe Tito was just too dumb to understand the words he spoke!!

Former middleweight champion Felix Trinidad won't keep fighting without his father, putting his boxing future in jeopardy.

Trinidad, who lost to Winky Wright on Saturday in Las Vegas, said at a news conference late Sunday that his father wants to retire.

``If you aren't here, I'm not continuing in boxing,'' Trinidad said before embracing his father and crying.

Trinidad has held world titles in three weight classes, and had lost just once before Saturday -- to Bernard Hopkins in a middleweight title fight four years ago. Trinidad also retired after that fight.

``I don't feel that I am giving my 100 percent in the corner, as I used to ... Because of this, I feel I don't want to carry on working in the ring,'' Trinidad's father said.

Added Felix Trinidad: ``My father told me at Miami airport what he was going to do, and I reminded him that since I was a kid I told him that the day my father could not be at my side, I would not throw another blow.''

Just thought I would post that for incase nobody has read that yet.

I dont feel his emeotions. The guy quits after getting embarass, the guy was totally manhandled! He should go out with a w against a big opponent.I have lost respect for Tito.He still can fight, i thought the gameplan was all wrong in this fight. The guy doesnt have a jab and he didnt even throw that many punches. He looked like he gave up in those couple of last rounds!

I agree with part of what you posted. I think that Trinidad should go with a farewell victory against a credible opponent, if and only if, he thinks he still has the will and determination to forget about what just happened to him and focus on that last big fight.

He is retiring because his dad is and he said he will not fight unless his dad is in his corner.

Yeah, after the Winky fight I dont want to see it again, but a fight with Lacy is PPV/fan friendly, somebody would get KO'd but it'll be a good last fight to be remenbered with, win or lose, and its worth the risk for his record.

Of course he is trying to hurt his oppenent its boxing. And publicty brings money to both fighters. He is a good person he never he is crying but he took the loss like a man,and if he wants out its his choice.

I'm still mad at his dad, he didn't do **** like in the Hopkins fight, If he had a dif trainer maybe he could had learned a few things from the hop fight, but it's to late...Even in the press conf here in PR his father said that he doesn't want to be in his corner AND THAT IF TITO STILL WANTS TO FIGHT WITHOUT HIM HE WOULDN'T EVEN SEE THOSE FIGHTS! WTF, he always wants to take all the credit...I think that Trinidad should retire and enjoy his wealth...He still one of the best fighters of our era and 42-2-35 is not a bad record...keep in mind that he lost to the p4p middle weight (a guy that has not lost in the last decade) king in his second fight as a middle and lost to the undisputed jr middle (a guy that has not lost in the last 5 years) both guys needed to fight a tactical fight to beat Tito...We just lost one of the best entertainers in boxing...

I'll say it again, Félix Trinidad Rodríguez is an ignorant and stubborn dumbass who thinks he is the greatest trainer ever. I've always thought that he made Tito his puppet and Tito never noticed that, so he had to go through bull**** experiences because of his father.

josenoway
05-16-2005, 10:38 PM
I can't credit his dad for any of Tito's victories, Tito won those on his own talent, power, and skill.

When the situation called for a good trainer to step in, *cough*hopkins*cough *cough*winky*cough*, where the hell was his corner? Your corner is supposed to be your eyes and ears, giving you tactical info on how to win the fight. His dad did none of that.

All that slapping stuff was stupid. It's like he watched too many Rocky movies or something.

Tito has character. It can't be easy knowing EVERYONE in a country and a good portion of New York is betting their homes on you and then losing despite your best effort.

I hope he's satisfied his competitive itch and can retire in peace, now. He knows that he's not the same fighter; no one he's ever gotten in the ring with has controlled him so easily with the possible exception of Hopkins.

I'll see him in the HOF, in a short while.
