So here’s da deal. I’ve just joined a boxing gym and currently work out on the weekends. I would like to go several times at night during the week but I’m afraid that if I work out at night, I won’t be able to fall asleep at bedtime. Here are my questions:

Does anyone work out at night? How does this affect your sleep schedule? I usually go to bed around 11:00, so how many hours do I need to ‘wind down’ after I work out? What are some relaxing techniques to use?

Thanks…

Mayweather JR works out at night he says it gives him some psychological advantage....

using workout to sleep better is not uncommon. If you work your ass off, all you would need is some water and you'll fall asleep like a baby.

I've heard health experts say specifically not to work out in the evening b/c it may affect the sleep. I guess I should try it, and then discover on my own, if it works or not..

I've done it before, and I have had no problem falling asleep. As long as you don't eat a lot of carbohydrates, or anything for that matter, after you work out, you should be able to fall asleep proper.

I always workout at night, but then again I'm not a morning person.

If you work your ass off, a shower and then going to bed should be the only things you want to do.

Aha jump rope is hard to do consistently man, I used to be a bigger guy like 240 and it sucked so bad but then i lost a bunch of weight and cut to 190, so now i get through it in a breeze, especially when im training for a fight because i cut down to 160-175 so it gets easier. Just do it for as long as you can, even if you trip up a little bit its ok as long as your still constantly jumping up and down you'll start to get better you just find a rythm. And youre still getting a great workout because your still going hard.. I always play about 10- 4 minute songs with a 30 second rest period in between.... VERY hard lol and have about a gallon of ice cold water next to you too lmao!

I work out at night but dont do boxing since all I do is lift now.. But I like working out night better so that all the calories and carbs I eat I can use them at night.

It's my best tactic for cutting weight .Light dinner or no dinner sometimes .A high intenity workout then bed .As long as i've got enough water in me I can sleep but if i ain't then sleeping's a nightmare and I sometimes have to get up through the night and drink water .Just make sure you have enough water straight after your workout.

This is a very true statement, thats another reason i work out and do **** mainly at night because it helps cut weight, but water is the key to good sleep after a workout just like he said, especially if you take any preworkout drink like NO XPlode or Superpump before you lift or run or box or whatever youre doin, youll be up all night if you dont!

no way.

If anything I sleep better at night after a good workout, then when I dont workout in the late night.

Especially when I just sparred. The only thing I do after I get out is go st8 to bed. Well after a light yogurt and a nice hot shower of course! :)

Night workouts are best!

fo sho.

More so when you sparr. Your feels somewhat heavy and almost every part of your body is tired, so you just decide to knock the f0k out!...at least thats what my body does to me..

i like to run at night and when i first started boxing (before going to a gym) i would train at home at night but nowadays with other commitments il be doing a more generic set up with running in the early morning and training at the afternoon about 4 or so til like 8 atleast 4 days a week and any other day il be doing other work, weights or drills or using some of the homemade gear ive got at my place, simple things but theyve worked wonders with me
